Abstract:V diplomskem delu so opisane teorije zdravstvene nege, konceptualni model V. Henderson in metoda procesa zdravstvene nege.

Title:Patient health care within the framework of Virginia Henderson's conceptual model
Abstract:In the thesis I described the theories in healthcare, Virginia Henderson’s conceptual model and the method of healthcare process. I also presented the results of the research, which we had conducted in the April 2009 among nurses employed at the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases at the Internal Medicine Clinic (KBC* Rijeka). The goal of the research was to get the opinion of nurses about the possibility of using the healthcare process during their everyday work. The purpose was also to find out whether the nurses really have the necessary job education, all necessary knowledge and experience to perform their vocation, whether they need and want further education and are they satisfied with the organization and the way of work at their workplace. The results of the research show that the questions posed to nurses concerning their knowledge of theory in healthcare, V. Henderson’s conceptual model and the method of healthcare process confirm that majority of the nurses are familiar with the facts from mentioned field, but are very insecure because they lack the necessary education, which consequentially includes the incapability of performing the tasks efficiently. Having in mind that 56% of them consider that it is necessary and useful to use the Virginia Henderson’s conceptual model, the same percentage of nurses would like to gain knowledge in all fields of healthcare. The results also demonstrate that the majority of nurses are not satisfied with the way of work, organization and interpersonal relationship at work, and that they want changes. Of course, that kind of results were expected, knowing the facts that the most of departments still use the traditional and old way of performing healthcare; the positive fact is that 40% of nurses want to perform the method of healthcare process. Such a fact helps to build an optimistic future, when we will have to provide even more patience, effort and hard work for the nurses to gain all necessary knowledge and skills which they will some day use in their competent performance of healthcare process.
