Title:Kompeticija treh morfotipov navadnega matije (Phalangium opilio Linnaeus, 1758) (Opiliones, Phalangiidae) na montanskem pašniku

Abstract:Paša je selektiven dejavnik za rastline, pri čemer ostajajo nekatere rastlinske vrste nepopasene. Na pašnikih v bližini planinskega doma Košenjak smo poleti 2008 opravili raziskave izbranih okoljskih parametrov na mirovališčih navadnega matija (Phalangium opilio) na nepopasenih grmih oziroma šopih mnogolistnega volčjega boba, malinjaka, lasaste šopulje in velike koprive. Med drugim smo določili specifično listno površino (SLA) in vsebnost suhe snovi lista (LDMC). Za osebke vrste Phalangium opilio je značilen spolni dimorfizem samcev, razpoznaven po dolžini heliceralnih apofiz, tako da so prisotni trije morfotipi odraslih osebkov: velikorogi samci, majhnorogi samci ter samice. Zanimala nas je razporeditev posameznih morfotipov med opoldnevnim mirovanjem na imenovanih rastlinah. Med meritvami smo na mirovališču vsakega osebka določili njegov spol oziroma morfotip in izmerili naslednje okoljske parametre: višina nad tlemi, višina rastline, temperatura, vlaga, lega glede na osončenost mirovališča ter oddaljenost do najbližjega sosednjega osebka ne glede na morfotip. Po eni strani smo potrdili hipotezo, da se velikorogi in majhnorogi samci glede okoljskih dejavnikov na mirovališčih med seboj značilno razlikujejo. Prav tako smo potrdili hipotezi, da so osebki Phalangium opilio pogostejši na širokolistnih rastlinah, ter da velikorogi samci zasedajo na rastlinah ugodnejša mirovališča kot majhnorogi samci. Po drugi strani nismo potrdili hipoteze, da se samice glede okoljskih dejavnikov ne razlikujejo od nobenega morfotipa samcev.

Title:Competition between three morfotypes of Phalangium opilio Linnaeus, 1758 in a montane pasture
Abstract:Grazing is a selective factor to plants providing some of them left behind ungrazed. In the summer 2008 we conducted an investigation on selected environmental parameters in the resting places of the harvestmen Phalangium opilio on the ungrazed bushes/tufts of Lupinus polyphyllus L., raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.), the grass Agrostis tenuis L. and stinging nettle (Urtica dioica L.) on the pastures near the mountain hut on the Mt. Košenjak. Among others, we measured the specific leaf area (SLA) and leaf dry matter content (LDMC). In Phalangium opilio, sexual dimorphisms of males occur, recognized according to the length of their cheliceral apophyses. Thus there are three morphotypes of adults: large-horned males (LM), small-horned males (SM) and females. We were interested in the distribution of morphotypes during mid-day resting on plants. In the resting place of each individual we determined the sex and morphotype, respectively, and meassured the following enviormental parameters: the height of the placement, the height of the plant, temperature, humidity, the insolation and the distance from the closest neigbouring specimen, irrespective of its morphotype. On the one hand, we confirmed the hypothesis, that both males signifficantly differ with respect to the enviromental factors in their placements. We also confirmed that Phalangium opilio is commonest on broadleaf plants, and that the large-horned males inhabit more favorable places on plants than do the small-horned ones. On the other hand, we could not confirm the hypothesis that females don not differ from either males in enviromental factors.
