Abstract:Hiter tempo sodobnega življenja, individualizacija, negotovost zaposlitve in družine, pa tudi notranje neravnovesje zaposlenih vse pogosteje povzročajo izgorelost kot posledico skrajne psihofizične in čustvene izčrpanosti. S stopnjo izgorelosti so pozitivno povezani materialna naravnanost zaposlenega, zdravstvene težave in strah pred izgubo službe.

Title:Determinants of employees burnout
Abstract:The pace of life, individualisation, uncertainty of employment and family, and also the inner lack of balance of the employees will more and more frequently cause burnout as a result of extreme psycho-physical and emotional exhaustion. An illness will not be affected only by stress on job but also factors which are linked to conditions in society, personal characteristics (idiosyncrasies) and psychological circumstances of work of the employees. The illness has serious and protracted results (consequences) and that is why it is so important that the symptoms be recognised in time and measures undertaken to fight them before they have reached the highest level. Prevention is still the most efficient remedy but it requires the cooperation of all three agents: the companies, the employees and the government. This master thesis aims to determine the factors linked to burnout on job on a sample of 194 persons. The results of the research indicate that burnout is not correlated to gender, harmonious nature and on years of work experience. However, the employees wishing to assure financial safety are quite ready to put at risk their health. The burnout degree is significantly associated with material orientation of the employees, with medical problems that they may have and with the fear of losing employment. Those employees that may invest more into their work than they receive as a remuneration for it will display a higher degree of burnout. The burnout degree is negatively correlated with job satisfaction, settled private life and promotion at work. The results of regression analysis show that the variance of burnout degree is positively affected by work experience longevity, fear of loss of employment , overtime work, sensitivity to conflict with colleagues on job, by risking health for financial security and by material orientation; it is, however, negatively affected by job satisfaction, responsible attitude to work and settled personal life.
