Abstract:Diplomska naloga prikazuje izobraževalne procese, ki potekajo v Karate zvezi Slovenije.
Keywords:karate – duhovna in fizična samoobrambna borilna veščina trener – učitelj, ki prenaša znanje na učenca DAN – stopnja mojstrskega znanja v karateju KYU – stopnja znanja pri začetnikih in učencih

Title:THE ORGANISATION OF EDUCATION IN THE KARATE FEDERATION OF SLOVENIA
Abstract:The thesis shows the educational processes which appear in the Karate Federation of Slovenia (KFS). The education in the KFS is divided into four sections. The section entitled "The advancement in karate – the phases of proficiency – belts" compares three different programmes for gaining karate belts and conditions for gaining master titles. The level of knowledge in karate is shown by the belt that the person is wearing. Despite the fact that all programmes originate from the same school they are nevertheless different. A system of advancement should therefore be unified within the Federation. The system should be fair and equal for each individual and clubs. The second section describes the education of the karate instructors. This section mostly describes the problems that some instructors face. These instructors have gained their titles in the early stages of karate development – they do not have proper education and are too old for further education. The section intended to describe the education of referees represents the problems concerned with the quality performance of individual referees. This section draws not only from the available literature but also tries to define the problems by using a questionnaire. The last section of the thesis is concerned with gaining licences for establishing the educational, professional and organisational work in the karate field. This field is the most regulated area of professional educations that are organised in the KFS. The basic problem in the thesis is the unregulated field of education. Karate has been present in Slovenia since the end of 1960s. The inequality regarding regulations of certain areas most likely originates from the times when the Karate Federation of Yugoslavia was formed. The centralised regulation and equal conditions for all are becoming necessary. This is important because of the fact that karate will be present as an Olympic sport in the 2016 Olympic Games and also to change the negative perception that some people have about martial arts in general.
Keywords:karate – spiritual and physical form of self defence instructor – a teacher who passes his knowledge onto a student DAN – the level of master knowledge in karate (further subdivisions of black belt rank) KYU – the level of knowledge among beginners and students
