Abstract:POVZETEK Poučevanje ročnih spretnosti se v šolah pojavi s šolskim zakonom o obveznem obiskovanju osnovne šole leta 1869. V diplomskem delu smo predstavili ročne spretnosti, makrame, vezenje in kvačkanje ter psihološke, pedagoško-didaktične in zgodovinske vidike o interesni dejavnosti ročna dela.

Title:Handicraft skills as an activity of interest in a primary school
Abstract:ABSTRACT Teaching handicraft skills came into our school programme in 1869 when the school law enacts obligatory attendance in primary school. Students acquired the knowledge of handicraft in different fields, such as woodcarving, clay and paper modelling, sewing, crocheting, knitting, knotting, embroidering and so on. Some of these skills are also found in today’s curriculum for a nine-year primary school, especially in technical science, science and art. Crocheting, knitting and knotting are handicraft skills that have lost their value over time and have disappeared from the curriculum, gaining of these skills is present in activities of interest that are organized. In this diploma paper the handicraft skills, macramé, embroidering and crocheting are presented together with psychological, pedagogic-didactical and historical views of activities of interest, called handicraft skills. We decided to explore the number of this activity in some of the schools in Dolenjska and Bela Krajina. The empirical part of the diploma paper ascertains the number of active activities of interest called handicraft skills in Dolenjska and Bela Krajina, their work programme, the number and age of the students that take part in this activity, the way of gaining the necessary materials and the reasons why this activity of interest is lacking in our primary schools. The results have shown that the activities of interests connected to handicraft skills and at the same time the development of the sense of the Slovene national tradition and culture are not as common as the teachers in the first five years of a primary school would like them to be. When looking for solutions for this problem, we made a didactical model of a yearly lesson plan for handicraft skills which represents only one of many ways of spreading these skills among the young population.
