2. Differences between national cultures matter : case of Slovenian-Korean working environmentMatej Tušar, Anja Žnidaršič, Gozdana Miglič, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Aims: Global business today usually requires organizations to be present locally in countries where their customers are. To do this successfully, good cooperation with local people is needed. Therefore, this paper focuses on the integration of cultures in the business world. The insights from this study are expected to benefit Slovenian expatriates to foreign companies in South Korea, as well as national culture researchers. The main goals of this research include a comparison of Hofstede’s IBM survey results with the researched working environment, and identifying the benefits of merging two national cultures for the working environment.
Methods: A questionnaire was distributed to purposive samples within the researched working environments and the collected data analysed used SPSS, where the hypotheses were tested using a chi-square test and t-test for independent samples.
Results: The results revealed significant differences between the two national cultures in the working environment, e.g.: fear of expressing disagreement towards superiors, commitment to work, preference of challenges, tendency to avoid conflicts and innovations - all differed according to nationality.
Conclusion: Working together with people from different cultures requires a certain amount of adaptation (learning about another culture, expecting situations that are not usual). If this adaptation is successful, then cooperation between the different cultures can also be successful, leading to a potential output that is even better than cooperation between people from the same culture. 3. Similarities and differences of health-promoting leadership and transformational leadershipAnita Dunkl, Paul Jiménez, Simona Šarotar Žižek, Borut Milfelner, Wolfgang Kallus, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The concept of health-promoting leadership focuses on the interaction between the organization and the individual by identifying components able to positively influence employees’ working conditions. In the present study, the effects of health-promoting leadership and transformational leadership on the employees’ recovery–stress balance are investigated. In an online study, 212 Slovenian workers were asked about their perceptions of their direct supervisors and their work-related stress and recovery. The results showed that both leadership styles have a significant effect on employees’ recovery at the workplace, which mediated the relationship between leadership and work-related stress. 4. A new method for determining extra time by considering ergonomic loads in the garment and metal working industriesVekoslav Verhovnik, Andrej Polajnar, 1993, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The changing labour conditions in the garment and metal-working industries have led to the necessity of determining new extra times to establish the time standard. In this paper, a method of measuring stress and strain imposed upon the operator in new working conditions by determining the additional production coefficient is presented. The method gives criteria and grades to assess stress at the workplace. Physical stress (dynamic and static), thermal and visual stress, discomfort caused by noise, aerosols, gases and vapours, and the stress due to monotony are assessed. The stresses are expressed by ecological, physiological and psychological indexes. The indexes are pondered. Ponderation includes the factor of the magnitude and the time of exposure to stress. Ponderation is expressed by the number of points, the total being an adequate presentation of the stresses. Stress and strain decrease the working performance of the operator. Therefore they must be included in the standard to compensate for the operator's lower working efficiency due to physical and psychological strain at the workplace, Short breaks and stops allowed during work enable the operator to perform work tasks without getting excessively tired. The necessary correction of the production time is made by applying the ergonomic coefficient Ker. 5. InpPro training environment and model based working in constructionNenad Čuš Babič, Danijel Rebolj, Thomas Olofsson, Sebastian Schumacher, 2009, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci Opis: InPro project is European initiative which is developing a model based and collaborative way of working in early design phase in construction. To support project goals and facilitate the industrial transformation and industrial technology take-up, the project implemented tools and developed curricula and materials for training and education of management, architects, engineers, and construction workers, as well as university students. The paper presents training environment architecture with BIM laboratory that was developed to support training on model based work practices and enhancement of hands-on skills. Development process, technical solutions and experiences are described. Content of training courses and curricula is based on experiences from live project demonstrations and use cases. The paper presents one of the answers that address the problem of insufficient skills in construction industry that prevent adoption of novel methods of working and technology.
