AI for optimizing analog RF parameters on NFC frontends

Opis: In this Master’s thesis, we study in detail NFC technology, NFC standardization, Artificial intelligence and GUI topics.Our goal is to optimize the measurement process of the FeliCa listener phase window in order to define the best analog parameters for the NFC IC. Namely, by combining machine learning and test automation, we want to achieve a faster validation time of the NFC IC under test. Firstly, we introduce the main topics related to NFC and present the thesis alongside specific goals. Next, we present the NFC technology on a fewuse cases. We also cover international standards, emphasizing sections that directly affect our validation and, therefore, the understanding of our solution. The NFC coverage is described alongside data representation used to interpret data used in proprietary software. Artificial intelligence is integrated into this software for multidimensional data interpolation task. We also cover the basics of deep neural networks and the most common architectures used in the DL field. The neural network training process is also covered to understand how we can optimize neural network global minimum convergence. In the last part of the thesis, we also explain how proprietary software tool actually works and how it can outperform previous processes. In the end, specific solutions related to the tool are described in more detail to understand our software development decisions better. Finally, we present measurement results and evaluate our goals.

Uporabniška vsebina kot orodje marketinških odnosov z javnostmi na spletu : magistrsko delo

Opis: Magistrska naloga preučuje uporabniško vsebino na YouTube-u z vidika marketinških odnosov z javnostmi. Ugotovili smo, da video blog ali vlog, kot izrazit primer te vsebine, omogoča blagovnim znamkam in podjetjem številne priložnosti za oblikovanje mnenj njihovih ciljnih skupin. Izjemna gledanost in priljubljenost ustvarjalcev vlogov, t.i. vlogerjev, predstavljata njihovo izhodišče moči vplivanja. Plasiranje taktično usmerjenih sporočil skozi vloge je tako postalo del vsake gledalčeve izkušnje na YouTube-u, kar smo dokazali z analizo umeščanja izdelkov. Hkrati nas je zanimalo, ali obstaja podobnost v načinu ustvarjanja tovrstne vsebine in umeščanja izdelkov pri različnih vlogerjih. Odgovore in spoznanja na to smo našli v široki paleti preučenih sorodnih študij, ki smo jih povezali v splošen komunikacijski model vlogerja. Gre tudi za najpomembnejši rezultat našega raziskovanja, saj predstavlja osnovo za analizo vsakega vlogerja.

Trends that will shape the professions of the future information society

Opis: In this paper we discuss the trends in present society that will have the most important influence in shaping future jobs, with an emphasis on issues related to sustainable development and an information society. We point out that based on the requirements of educated end-users, companies will have to follow the principles of sustainable development and social responsibility. In future, due to technical development, natural resources, environmental issues and demographical trends in the developed western world, the most attractive jobs will be in high technology, health and medical care, as well as the pleasure and free time industry. The most important sectors will be informatics and telecommunication, logistics, safety, healthcare and life-long education.

Vpliv uporabnika na spletno marketinško platformo

Opis: As a part of the Master thesis, we wanted to improve user experience, user interface and usability of Forsikringsportalen platform. Based on literature review and case studies conducted from the same or similar area of research, we redesigned certain elements of the platform. The performance of the redesigned elements was measured with Preference and Question tests as well as gathering of statistical data. With gathered results, we formed a conclusion that will help the company to engage users more. With the implemented improvements and increased percentage of first-time logins, the company can focus on the engagement after the login.

Materials design for language m-learning

Opis: Today's smart phones are versatile multimedia devices. Their processing power is incredible compared to decades-old personal computers (PCs), and the time is right to use them in education. The touch screen has provided a haptic user interface that cannot be considered as merely another mouse. The design of m-learning materials therefore needs to follow a special set of rules to maximize the efficiency of constraints posed by the devices and the user interface. In the article the design considerations are presented in the context of a practical application for using mobile devices in language learning with the application BlaBla$^{TM}$.

Simulations of VoIP applications in INET framework

Opis: This master's thesis describes the support for modelling Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) applications in the INET Framework. First, it briefly presents the VoIP technology and factors responsible for the VoIP quality of service. Next, the thesis moves on to discuss the OMNeT++ environment and the INET Framework, their installation and usage. Following this, it examines all of the INET packages and modules available for VoIP modelling, with all VoIP-related INET examples then shortly described and tested. By using INET, our own network and application models are created and simulated using different parameters. Comparisons of the simulation results are carried out and some of the best-found parameters for the VoIP communications are presented. At last, the calculation of jitter by using the obtained simulation results and Excel program is described, because jitter is not shown in the simulation results in INET.

Adapted user-centered design : a strategy for the higher user acceptance of innovative e-health services

Opis: Being familiar with all the benefits of e-Health and the strategic plan for the Slovenian health sectors informatization, Telekom Slovenia and the Faculty of Medicine from the University of Maribor, along with other partners, have initiated an e-Health project. The project group is developing various e-Health services that are based on modern ICT (information and communications technology) solutions and will be available on several screens. In order to meet the users needs and expectations and, consequently, achieve the high acceptance of e-Health services, the user-centered design (UCD) approach was employed in the e-Health project. However, during the research it was found that conventional UCD methods are not completely appropriate for older adults: the target population of the e-Health services. That is why the selected UCD methods were modified and adapted for older adults. The modified UCD methods used in the research study are presented in this paper. Using the results of the adapted UCD methods, a prototype for a service named MedReminder was developed. The prototype was evaluated by a group of 12 study participants. The study participants evaluated the MedReminder service as acceptable with a good potential for a high adoption rate among its target population, i.e., older adults.

User experience with security elements in internet and mobile banking

Opis: Background/Purpose: Maintaining a balance between security and a positive user experience in mobile and Internet banking is becoming increasingly difficult for the providers of banking services. The goal of our research is to analyse user opinions about the current situation: how users perceive security and how the authentication methods they are using affect user experience. Methodology: Data were collected using an online survey among the users of 15 banks operating in Slovenia, and statistical methods were applied to analyse them. Results of the users’ study were evaluated and commented by a limited number of interviewed banking security experts. Results: The results indicate that the use of mobile banking in Slovenia is relatively low, as only 30 percent of respondents use mobile banking along with Internet banking. Slovenian users perceive security to be the most important factor in mobile and online banking, closely followed by reliability. We also verified whether the users knew which authentication methods they were using: 69% of respondents selected the correct authentication method. The opinion of 88% of respondents was that authentication methods do not limit them when using mobile and Internet banking. Results of the study of user’s opinions did not surprise the experts, although experts’ views about the balance between security and usability diverged considerably. Conclusion: Our results indicate that, in Slovenia, users of the Internet and mobile banking services regard security to be the most important element in mobile or Internet banking and find user experience less important while they absolutely do want products that are easy to use.

Gamification: Improvement of the user experience in ubiquitous applications for health and well-being of people

Opis: The goal of this work was to explore gamification in the healthcare domain with regards to fitness in order to understand how and which gamification mechanics can improve user experience in ubiquitous applications. This possible influence was tested conducting a survey in which the participants evaluated first the fitness application 30 Day Fit Challenge Workout and then its impact on their motivation. The results showed that the gamification mechanics did increase motivation (progression the most significantly, achievements the least), and therefore improved the user experience. Female participants felt more motivated than male ones.

Translation Shifts in User's Guides: The Case of iPhone User Guide for iOS 5.1 Software

Opis: The graduation thesis Translation Shifts in User's Guides: The Case of iPhone User Guide for iOS 5.1 Software presents translation shifts and their appearance in the Slovene translation of the user's guide. Translation shifts are common in all kinds of text. In this thesis I describe some of the most common translation shifts, present in the Slovene translation of the iPhone User Guide for iOS 5.1 Software. Technical texts are a challenge for every translator. He has to poses the knowledge of the technical field he is translating in. Whenever transferring the message form one language to another, there are obstacles, which the translator has to overcome. Each language has its grammatical, lexical and semantic characteristics, which are unique. Achieving equivalence and equivalent effect always and in every situation is nearly impossible. Therefore translation shift are unavoidable. C. J. Catford (1965), Kitty van Leuven-Zwart (1989) Vinay and Darbelnet (1995), Nida (1964) and Popovič (1970) dedicated their time to translation shifts. Based on the work and classification of Vinay and Darbelnet (1995) and Nida (1964) I have analysed the Slovene translation of the iPhone User Guide for iOS 5.1 Software. The analysis of the iPhone User Guide for iOS 5.1 Software shows that the predominant translation shift is transposition (change of word class). It occurs most frequently in connection with nominalization in the Slovene translation.
