1. Artificial intelligence in travel agencies in Slovenia : 1st cycle professional bachelor's studies graduate thesisArmin Bičo, 2024, diplomsko delo Opis: Guided by the experience of how travel agencies operate and the significant expansion and success of artificial intelligence, an opportunity was seen to connect and explore these two areas. Many business processes in travel agencies are still outdated and monotonous, and can certainly be automated, such as data processing and analysis. Existing systems could be improved, and new ones could be introduced to enhance service quality and market competitiveness. The goal was to investigate how familiar travel agencies in Slovenia are with this technology, if travel agencies have experience with its use, and if integration of the technology into their operations is accepted. The current state of travel agencies in Slovenia and the steps needed for future progress are provided by this research. The focus is placed on the basics of artificial intelligence, travel agencies, and how they can function together. Field results were gathered by interviewing ten travel agencies in the Republic of Slovenia, providing a sample that aids further research. A SWOT analysis was conducted using all the obtained information to understand what artificial intelligence offers. 2. Ephemerality in personal memory travel : encountering the changing environmentAndreja Trdina, Maruša Pušnik, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This article approaches personal memory travels with the aim of investigating people’s encounters with the changing environment in relation to time. It centers on the intra-actions with perceptual ephemera as immaterial non-solid entities to argue that our relational reality is a cyclical, dis-continuous process of past and present encounters. The study is grounded in the post-humanist performativ-ity approach and based on personal life histories of memory trips gathered in Slovenia with the help of in-depth interviews and photo-elicitation. Findings suggest that travelers’ engagements with ephemera at site illustrate complex entanglements between human and other (immaterial) entities as co-constituted in time and from within time, provoking the production of situated and temporally sensitive knowledge about the more-than-human world. The article endorses the significance of memory work and human engagements with absences and resonances, both allusions to other (past) contexts, as fundamental for cultivating post-anthropocentric attitudes and advancing the habit of timefulness. 3. Suggestions and solutions for enhancing active commuting to the University of Maribor and advancing ▫$CO_2$▫ emission reductionBeno Mesarec, Branka Trček, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This study investigated commuting behavior at four technical faculties (BCTF) in Maribor. The main aim was to provide suggestions and solutions for challenges related to active commuting to the BCTF, while promoting advancements in CO2 emission reduction. The research methodology was based on analyses of a questionnaire survey and calculations of CO2 emissions. The results indicate that implementing measures to promote walking, bicycling and the use of city and regional public transport, in conjunction with supportive housing and parking policies, has the potential to eliminate car trips within 0–1 km of the BCTF and reduce car trips from other zones in favor of active commuting by 30% to 50%. These proposed transport scenarios could lead to an annual reduction in CO2 emissions ranging from 17% to 29%. The greatest potential for CO2 savings is observed within 0–5 km of the BCTF, where a shift to walking and bicycling could reduce emissions by up to 44%. The results also highlighted a notable disparity, indicating that students with term-time accommodations emitted 3.5 times and 4.1 times less annual CO2 within 0–5 km of the BCTF compared to students and staff commuting daily from their permanent residences in the city. 5. Literary tourism : the role of Russian 19th century travel literature in the positioning of the smallest European royal capital - CetinjeAndriela Vitić-Ćetković, Ivona Jovanović, Jasna Potočnik Topler, 2020, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Increasing competition on the global tourism market forces numerous tourist destinations to create a specific image and diversify their offers through innovative and sustainable tourism products. In view of this, there is a range of possibilities for utilizing historical resources, tangible and intangible cultural heritage, including travel literature, which has not been considered in Montenegro thus far in the context of potentials for enhancing the tourist offer. This paper is focusing on the research of travel literature by 19th century authors from Russia who wrote about Cetinje and Montenegro, as well as the possibilities of creating a destination image and diversified experience for specific market niches, primarily the tourists from Russia who have been among the most numerous in Montenegro. The expected outcome of the research is to point out the importance of valorisation of Russian traveler literature in the context of creating a destination image. Considering the negative propaganda of a part of the media in Russia when Montenegro entered NATO in 2017, it is expected that this Balkan and Adriatic country, whose primary business is tourism, will have to identify and acquire state-of-the-art modalities for attracting new target segments from the Russian Federation. In this paper, literary tourism with the concepts of town - museum, town of books and storytelling, as marketing communications tools, are proposed to promote the revival and valorization of historical events, historical figures and Cetinje's former image in the positioning of the tourism destination, also in the conte xt of sustainable tourism development. 6. Teaching writing skills in English for tourism by employing travel writingJasna Potočnik Topler, 2021, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji Opis: This chapter examines teaching writing skills in English for Tourism by employing travel writing, which is not only a tool for teaching linguistic skills, but also encourages students to develop research interests and storytelling techniques. When travel writing was introduced to undergraduate and MA students during the English lessons the role of languages in Tourism, Tourism Discourse and Literary Tourism was also discussed with them. As part of the English assignment, students were asked to produce their own travel writing texts, which were discussed, reviewed by their teacher, re-written and – in the case of Master students – at the final stage, also published as an example of a teaching and learning experiment. Thus, this chapter presents travel writing as a successful method of developing travel writing skills inside the English for Specific Purposes classes. 7. Building the ethnopôle : eliciting and sharing ethnobotanical knowledge in tourism developmentCharlie Mansfield, Jasna Potočnik Topler, 2021, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: With rising tourism interest in cultural heritage, destination management organisations, museums and other cultural institutions are seeking methods of unlocking the intangible cultural heritage of local residents and sharing that before it is lost. This is specific knowledge of the uses and practices of disappearing urban space, of plants and foodstuffs, of clothing and of work practices that were more in-tune with local, sustainable production. With the emergence of post-humanism, based on Deleuze's reading of Spinoza's ethics, this contribution outlines new methodologies in building the ethnopôle, and proposes a model for transmission that explores narrative knowing through literary travel writing for a new public.
