1. Employers’ efforts to encourage older workers to retire later : a case study of large companies in SloveniaVesna Novak, Anja Vidmar, Janja Jerebic, Alenka Brezavšček, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Background and Purpose: Most developed societies are facing the challenge of an ageing population, which poses several issues, including low labour force participation and financial pressures on the sustainability of the pension system. Countries typically address this situation by raising the retirement age, which often results in dissatisfaction among workers as such decisions are perceived as imposed. Therefore, our work’s main purpose was to research the analysis of implementing measures for managing older workers in companies, which would indirectly influence workers’ decisions to voluntarily choose longer work participation. Design/Methodology/Approach: We designed our study on the assumption that companies that more frequently conduct various analyses of their employees also pay greater attention to measures for managing older workers. In doing so, we focused on the measures that the literature identifies as important for keeping older workers employed for longer. The data source was a study from 2020, which sampled large companies in Slovenia with more than 100 employees. We posed the questions to the person responsible for human resource management in the company. The initial question was whether conducting employee analyses is associated with the implementation of measures focused on education and training, skills transfer, and career development as well as managing the health of older workers. We formulated three main hypotheses, which we confirmed using linear correlation analysis. Results: We found that companies that conduct more frequent analyses of employees’ qualifications and competencies, on average, also more frequently implement measures related to the area of education and training of older workers and to the area of knowledge transfer and career development of older workers. We confirmed statistically significant correlations in general as well as at the level of particular measures. Furthermore, we found that companies that more frequently conduct analyses of the health structure of employees, on average, also more frequently implement measures in the field of managing the health of older workers. We concluded that companies that conduct employee analyses more frequently demonstrate a higher level of commitment to implementing measures for managing older workers, which subsequently impacts their decision to retire later. Conclusion: By conducting employee analyses, companies gain important information that leads to the timely and sufficiently frequent implementation of measures for managing older employees. With empirical data, we have supported our prediction that the frequency of implementing measures through which companies can influence older workers’ decisions for later retirement is associated with the frequent conduction of employee analyses. This article has contributed to our understanding of ageing and the treatment of older workers. It has also highlighted a softer approach to promoting prolonged work engagement for older employees as an alternative to unwanted, legally imposed later retirement. 2. Video in blended teacher education : a tool for practicing teaching analysisJana Stara, Tereza Krčmářová, Jana Krátká, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The article presents a case study of using videos to develop primary school student teachers’ skills when analysing teaching. It is based on a content analysis of teaching observations, students’ written work, teacher feedback, curriculum, student evaluation, and teacher interviews. The research results show that using video is meaningful and motivating to student and university teachers. However, students rarely draw on theoretical knowledge in analysing the situations. To connect theory and practice, it is desirable to consistently apply the requirement to reflect on observed phenomena with the underpinning of theory and to strengthen the connections between theoretical and practical courses. 3. Subjectively perceived importance of education by university students at the beginning of their studiesRadmila Burkovičová, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The article investigates students perception of the importance of education and its rationale at the beginning of their studies. Fifty-seven students from the bachelor’s programme Teacher Training for Kindergarten from 2018/2019 to 2021/2022 participated. The sampling was based on convenience. A qualitative approach was used through open verbal statements transcribed into a text. The individual importance of education to students at the beginning of the first semester and their personal justifications for the importance of education were identified, representing several categories. We found the following dimensions for the categories of the meaning of education (personal goal category) and personal definition of education (categories: association with context; from individual to society; on the background of historical development; personality development and evolution; essence; mode of acquisition; value; through the lens of the present; Dionysian conception; general overview; confused definitions). 4. Using Kolb's learning model in structured types of professional education and training for teachersSnježana Močinić, Sanja Tatković, 2021, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The use of Kolb's model enhances the effects of professional development because the model allows the exchange of concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualisation and active experimentation, and provides the connection between theory and practice. The empirical part of this paper analyses the results of a survey conducted among teachers from Croatian primary schools regarding the presence of the four stages of Kolb’s learning model in structured types of professional education and training. The survey shows teachers’ dissatisfaction regarding the presence of activities such as reflection on teaching, linking theory to practice and stimulating research activities in teaching practice. 5. The creative artistic portfolio and reporting by art education students on their student teachingTomaž Zupančič, 2020, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The study of art education is characterised by the duality of artistic and pedagogical content. The importance of a high-quality intertwining of both segments is emphasised. Various types of portfolios are mentioned. The study focused on how the artistic portfolio and the reports from art teacher trainee students about their student teaching experience can be connected. An innovative model of instruction for the preparation of the student teaching report was prepared. Using qualitative analysis procedures, it was established that the creative-pedagogic (CP) model had positive effects on student motivation and generated in-depth introspection. The students worked with the principles of contemporary art, such as juxtaposition, symbolism, performance art, body art, and self-portrait (selfie). 6. Innovative professional learning communities and sustainable education practices through digital transformationMaja Vičič Krabonja, Simona Kustec, Vesna Skrbinjek, Boris Aberšek, Andrej Flogie, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Education is the most important part of sustainable society development. Traditional
approaches to permanent lifelong educator training often fail to produce lasting changes in teaching
practices (UN, Goal 4). This paper examines how educator involvement in a professional learning
community (PLC) ensures equitable quality education and promotes lifelong learning opportunities
for all and a sustainable digital transformation of the teaching and learning process. Participation in
PLC and the use of contemporary learning environments positively impact the quality of educators’
work, thereby enhancing the overall educational process. This study utilised a quantitative methodology, employing both descriptive and inferential statistics to analyse the data. Results indicate
that a balanced integration of formal PLC structures and guidance, combined with elements of a
non-formal, broader PLC and external incentives and support (such as projects), can surpass mere
exchanges of best practices, foster innovation, and support the sustainable digital transformation
of educators. This approach leads to a sustainable shift in pedagogical paradigms. The PLC_IP
model (focused on including digital technologies and effective teaching strategies) enhances collective
educator efficacy, contributing to improved teaching quality. For PLCs to achieve sustainability, they
must be dynamic entities that adapt to the evolving educational landscape, ensuring their continued
relevance and impact with rising completion rates over time. Our findings underscore the importance
of innovative PLCs in driving sustainable educational development and improvement and provide a
framework for future research and practical applications in educational settings. In addition, PLCs
can strengthen the means of implementation and revitalise the global partnership for sustainable
development (UN, Goal 17). Ključne besede: professional learning communities, ESD, training, sustainable changes, sustainable education, education practices, schools Objavljeno v DKUM: 27.11.2024; Ogledov: 0; Prenosov: 16

7. Safety culture and the positive association of being a primary care training practice during COVID-19 : the results of the multi-country European PRICOV-19 studyBianca Silva, Zlata Ožvačić Adžić, Pierre Vanden Bussche, Esther Van Poel, Bohumil Seifert, Cindy Heaster, Claire Collins, Canan Tuz Yilmaz, Felicity Knights, Zalika Klemenc-Ketiš, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The day-to-day work of primary care (PC) was substantially changed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Teaching practices needed to adapt both clinical work and teaching in a way that enabled the teaching process to continue, while maintaining safe and high-quality care. Our study aims to investigate the effect of being a training practice on a number of different outcomes related to the safety culture of PC practices. PRICOV-19 is a multi-country cross-sectional study that researches how PC practices were organized in 38 countries during the pandemic. Data was collected from November 2020 to December 2021. We categorized practices into training and non-training and selected outcomes relating to safety culture: safe practice management, community outreach, professional well-being and adherence to protocols. Mixed-effects regression models were built to analyze the effect of being a training practice for each of the outcomes, while controlling for relevant confounders. Of the participating practices, 2886 (56%) were non-training practices and 2272 (44%) were training practices. Being a training practice was significantly associated with a lower risk for adverse mental health events (OR: 0.83; CI: 0.70-0.99), a higher number of safety measures related to patient flow (Beta: 0.17; CI: 0.07-0.28), a higher number of safety incidents reported (RR: 1.12; CI: 1.06-1.19) and more protected time for meetings (Beta: 0.08; CI: 0.01-0.15). No significant associations were found for outreach initiatives, availability of triage information, use of a phone protocol or infection prevention measures and equipment availability. Training practices were found to have a stronger safety culture than non-training practices. These results have important policy implications, since involving more PC practices in education may be an effective way to improve quality and safety in general practice. 8. Preparing students for mobility in vocational education and trainingTina Rajhman, 2019, magistrsko delo Opis: The following master’s thesis focuses on preparing students on mobility in vocational education and training. The focus lies on English for specific purposes which is an integral part of English in technical secondary and vocational technical education. The thesis also concentrates on exchange programmes and their effects on students’ L2 and communicative competences.
The above-mentioned educational programmes have to focus on both general English as well as English for specific purposes because the students need the knowledge at school, during the vocational training and later at work. The EU helps promoting language diversity by financing various international mobility programmes. The following MA thesis focuses on Erasmus+ which supports education and training at all levels and helps the schools send vocational education and training learners abroad. As proven by various studies, mobility has a beneficial effect on students’ English and communication skills.
The case study included seven students attending upper-secondary programmes at the school centre Škofja Loka. The purpose of the study was to analyse the influence of the students’ vocational training abroad on their foreign language competences and to see whether students’ communicative competences improved during the vocational training abroad. The results were used to prepare helpful language exercises for future Erasmus+ students. According to students’ answers, a four-week exchange period is long enough for both weaker as well as more advanced students to make progress in English. All of them also confirmed that the most used language skills during the mobility were speaking and listening. For that reason, the practical part of the MA thesis presents four examples of exercises focusing on woodworking vocabulary, listening and speaking. 10. The effectiveness of distanced e-learning in teachers' education : a case study in SloveniaMilena Kerndl, Metka Kordigel Aberšek, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: In the last two decades a remarkable shift from conventional forms of teaching toward e-learning happened on all levels of education. This shift included also teachers’ permanent, lifelong education. The purpose of the study was to find and compare the effectiveness of conventional workshop and an e-learning module in teachers’ lifelong/permanent professional training. A study included 30 mother tongue teachers. The aim of the teachers training course curriculum was focused in their competence for developing students’/reader’s reception metacognition (RRM), a competence which is a prerequisite for differentiation/individualization in the process of implementation of literature curriculum in the frame of mother tongue education. Pre-intervention and post-intervention teaching practice of both groups of teachers were observed and compared to find out, which form of lifelong education influenced participants’ teaching practice in a more effective way. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of data, gained in e-module and compared with those, gained in the traditional workshop education, shows a significantly bigger effect of education on the case study participants teaching practice for the group of teachers, which participated in traditional educational form – a workshop.
