Experimental validation of a dynamic photovoltaic/thermal collector model in combination with a thermal energy storage tank
Klemen Sredenšek, Sebastijan Seme, Bojan Štumberger, Miralem Hadžiselimović, Amor Chowdhury, Zdravko Praunseis, 2021, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The primary objective of this paper is to present a dynamic photovoltaic/thermal collector model in combination with a thermal energy storage tank. The added value of the proposed model is the use and integration of existing dynamic models for describing the entire photovoltaic/thermal system. The presented model was validated using measurements on the experimental system located at the Institute of Energy Technology, Faculty of Energy Technology, University of Maribor. The validation was carried out based on three different weather conditions—sunny, cloudy, and overcast. The validation results were evaluated using the normalized root mean square error and mean absolute percentage error for the temperature and output power of the photovoltaic/thermal collector and the temperature of the thermal energy storage tank. The model results concurred with the measurements, as the average mean absolute percentage error values for the temperature and output power of the photovoltaic/thermal collector and thermal energy storage tank temperature were 5.82%, 1.51%, and 7.58% respectively.

5th International Conference EnRe - Energy & Responsibility : book of extended abstracts
2022, zbornik

Opis: The tendency to improve energy devices, the impact of environmental factors and the development of new technologies for the exploitation of sustainable resources contribute to the fact that we have witnessed intensive energy development in the last decade. The two most important Slovenian energy pools, located in Velenje and Krško, are at the turning point of renovation, and are facing major challenges in the design and planning of modern energy devices. The current generation faces a great ethical responsibility to leave their descendants a world with as little human impact on the environment as possible. Therefore, communication between experts and researchers, discussion and exchange of different views for the future is of the utmost importance, which is exactly the purpose of the EnRe Conference.
Ključne besede: renewable energy and energy storage systems, classic energy systems, policies and strategies for RES, alternative energy systems, energy conversions, energy transfer, electrical machine, thermal machines, mathematical methods in energy engineering, environmental protection, micro and nano energetics, hydrogen technologies, low carbon technologies and strategies, nuclear energy, smart buildings, smart cities and smart grids

Ground-sourced energy wells for heating and cooling of buildings
Heinz Brandl, Dietmar Adam, Roman Markiewicz, 2006, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Energy wells are thermo-active elements for an economical extraction or storage of ground energy, similar to energy piles and other deep foundation elements also used as heat exchangers. Heating and/or cooling of buildings requires a primary and secondary thermo-active circuit, commonly connected by a heat pump. The paper gives several design aspects of energy wells which can be also used for the design of deep energy foundations. Thermal response tests have proved suitable for the in-situ determination of thermal ground properties required for an optimised design. Moreover, different systems of energy wells are discussed, and a comprehensive pilot research project is described.

Impact energy analysis of quenched and tempered fine grain structural steel specimens after weld thermal cycle simulation
Marko Dunđer, Tomaž Vuherer, Ivan Samardžić, 2014, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The paper presents impact energy results of thermal cycle simulated specimens of quenched and tempered fine grain structural steel S960QL. These results are obtained by examining notched Charpy specimens. Upon performed metallographic analysis and measured hardness, total impact energy is separated into ductile and brittle components.
Ključne besede: quenched and tempered fine grain structural steel, welding thermal cycle, impact energy, cooling time t8/5

Sustainable refurbishment of Martin Konšak Primary School in Maribor
Hristijan Babuka, 2016, magistrsko delo

Opis: The thesis tends to present a comprehensive approach for sustainable refurbishment of primary schools, treating Martin Konšak Primary School in Maribor as a case study. The first part provides theoretical framework in which understanding of the sustainable refurbishment of schools is formed. Moreover, energy-efficient and sustainable principles of design are introduced. The following part deals with detailed analysis of the existing school. The investigation extends from site analysis - climate conditions, orientation, and urban context - to school building analysis, which includes an overview of the history and the current situation of the school, architectural evaluation, and energy analysis, resulting in summarizing the advantages and disadvantages of the existing building. The final part synthesizes the knowledge and proposes a final design solution for sustainable refurbishment of the school. The refurbishment concept involves renovation or demolition of particular elements and extension of the building's volume. Furthermore, it covers energy-efficient design principles and passive and active strategies to reduce energy consumption of the building and improve its environmental performance. The thesis concludes with simulations of building's energy use before and after the refurbishment.
Ključne besede: sustainable refurbishment, sustainable school, school refurbishment, architecture, energy efficiency, thermal envelope, energy performance.
