1. Analysing picking errors in vision picking systemsEla Vidovič, Brigita Gajšek, 2020, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Vision picking empowers users with access to real-time digital order information, while freeing them from handheld radio frequency devices. The smart glasses, as an example of vision picking enabler, provide visual and voice cues to guide order pickers. The glasses mostly also have installed navigation features that can sense the order picker's position in the warehouse. This paper explores picking errors in vision systems with literature review and experimental work in laboratory environment. The results show the effectiveness of applying vision picking systems for the purposes of active error prevention, when they are compared to established methods, such as paper-picking and using cart mounted displays. A serious competitor to vision picking systems are pick-to-light systems. The strong advantage of vision picking system is that most of the errors are detected early in the process and not at the customer's site. The cost of fixing the error is thus minimal. Most errors consequently directly influence order picker's productivity in negative sense. Nonetheless, the distinctive feature of the system is extremely efficient error detection. 2. Comparison of lowest-slot and nearest-stack heuristics for storage assignment of steel bar setsJakob Marolt, Tone Lerher, 2018, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Our research objective is to lower intralogistics costs by minimizing the number of shuffling operations in a steel plant company commercial warehouse. The process of dispatching products consists of retrieving set of steel bar (SSB) from a floor stored stack or a special stacking frame by an overhead crane. To retrieve a targeted merchandise all SSB above targeted must be reshuffled. Proper assignment of storage locations is a key logistics problem for efficient order picking. We are comparing two heuristics, that do not require information of dispatching sequence of any stored products. We simulated the problem at hand with both methods. Our objective is to count the number of reshuffles using each heuristic on randomly generated examples and decide which is better in the long run. Our problem has similarities with storage assignment of steel plates or steel coils for minimization of reshuffling operations. The problem is also comparable to storage assignment of containers in a container yard. In our case we are dealing with a special stacking configuration of products, that demands different approach. We want to demonstrate which heuristic should be used in companies that lack necessary storage information infrastructure. 3. Energy storage potential of used electric vehicle batteries for supporting renewable energy generation in IndiaRajat Chauhan, Ram Santran, Matevž Obrecht, Rhythm Singh, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: As electric vehicle (EV) batteries degrade to 80 % of their full capacity, they become unsuitable for electric vehicle propulsion but remain viable for energy storage applications in solar and wind power plants. This study aims to estimate the energy storage potential of used-EV batteries for stationary applications in the Indian context. To estimate the renewable energy generation and used-EV capacity, the study adopted International Energy Agency (IEA) and International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) growth scenarios for renewable energy growth and electric vehicle growth, respectively. Battery degradation models for popular battery chemistries in electric vehicle mobility, namely Lithium Iron Phosphate, Lithium Manganese Oxide, and Nickel Manganese Cobalt, are employed to estimate reusable battery capacity. The first life for these battery chemistries, for mobility applications, ranges from 3.5 to 7 years. Results indicate an estimated storage potential of 1300–1870 GWh in used electric vehicle batteries in India by 2038. This is equivalent to 17 % – 39 % of average daily energy generation from solar and wind power plants in various scenarios by the year 2038. This research contributes to SDG-7 by facilitating clean energy accessibility through renewable energy storage and supports emission reduction efforts in transportation and energy sectors, thereby fostering sustainable cities (SDG-11). 4. Advanced technologies in logistics engineering : automated storage systems with shuttles integrated with hoisted carriageTone Lerher, Primož Bencak, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This paper presents automated storage systems with shuttles integrated with hoisted carriage for successful application in intralogistics. The first part of the paper presents classic and advanced AVS/RS along with specific intralogistics automation systems known as AutoStore from Swisslog and Skypod from Exotec. The second part of the paper focuses on an advanced system with shuttle vehicles capable of serving multiple tiers of the storage rack. An analytical model for the shuttle vehicles capable of serving multiple tiers of the storage rack is presented, which is based on (i) the sequences of acceleration, constant velocity and deceleration, and (ii) randomised assignment policy. Based on the presented model, the expected Single Command (SC) and Dual Command (DC) travel (cycle) time as well as the throughput performance of the shuttle vehicles capable of serving several tiers of warehouse, could be calculated. A programme code in MATLAB has been presented for the computation of throughput performances of automated storage systems with shuttles integrated with hoisted carriage capable of serving several tiers of the storage rack. 5. Slow growth storage of Berula erecta in vitro - effect of sucrose, sorbitol and temperatureJana Ambrožič-Dolinšek, Sanja Oblonšek, Terezija Ciringer, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: It has been established that in vitro storage of Berula erecta (Huds.) Coville by slow growth would rationalize the culture maintenance by reducing the number of transfers to fresh medium. Attempts of slow growth were made while maintaining viability by adding sugars and sugar alcohols to the MS medium and lowering the culture temperature in the growth chambers. The effect of low temperatures (13°C and 4°C), different combinations and concentrations of sorbitol (20, 40 g L-1) and sucrose (30, 40 g L-1), and light was tested to determine the viability and ability of B. erecta to recover growth. Increasing sucrose concentration did not inhibit or slow growth. At 23 ± 2°C, the addition of 20 g L-1 sorbitol successfully inhibited growth, while the addition of 40 g L-1 sorbitol resulted in plant senescence after two months of culturing. Storage of B. erecta at 13°C did not effectively inhibit growth and recovery ability in any treatment. The most effective way to maintain B. erecta for long-term slow growth storage in tissue culture while retaining a high level of viability with minimal growth was to culture the plants at 4°C in the dark. This kept the plants viable and capable of regeneration for several months. 7. A novel autonomous vehicle-based storage and retrieval system with movable liftsBanu Y. Ekren, Tone Lerher, Boris Jerman, 2023, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci Opis: This paper presents a novel autonomous vehiclebased storage and retrieval system with movable lifts (AVS/RS/ML) as an alternative automated warehousing technology to tier-captive shuttle-based storage and retrieval systems (SBS/RS). The proposed system aims to provide a costeffective, highly efficient, and adaptable solution for warehouse operations utilizing automated guided vehicles (AGVs) capable of travelling both inside and outside the warehouse. 10. Analysis of photovoltaic system with battery storage in winter periodJan Lokar, Peter Virtič, 2019, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci Opis: Energy sources as a solar, wind and water energy are used in production of electrical energy. Their biggest advantage is that they are renewable and they are sustainable. On the other hand, production from renewable energy sources is limited by environmental conditions. Production of photovoltaic systems are dependent on solar radiation, temperature, incidence angle, shadowing and other variable quantities. That is why designing of photovoltaic system is complex. In this paper a photovoltaic system production analysis and consumption analysis in residential house are presented. With real measured data the consumption and production are compared and energy balance equations, battery charge and discharge model are defined and behaviour of battery storage system through the one day are analysed. In addition, the reactive energy production and consumption are also analysed.
