Localized dissolution kinetics of low carbon steel
Aljana Petek, Valter Doleček, 2007, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Localized dissolution of low carbon steel in saturated calcium hydroxide with different amount of sodium chloride has been investigated, using a dc technique. Potentiokinetic polarization curves indicated that pitting potentials ($E_{pit}$) decrease linearly with the log of chloride concentration. The rate of pit nucleation (1/$t_i$), and the rate of pits growth increases with increasing concentration of $Cl^-$ ions. Initiation of pitting attack could be ascribed to the adsorption of $Cl^-$ ions on the oxide surface. Adsorption of $Cl^-$ ions is physisorption and follow the Langmuir isotherm with $Δ_{ads}G^0$ = -21.1 kJ/mol.

Influence of temperature and pressure during PGSS[sup]TM micronization and storage time on degree of crystallinity and crystal forms of monostearate and tristearate
Zoran Mandžuka, Željko Knez, 2008, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: For controlling the degree of crystallinity and crystal form during particle formation using supercritical fluids, knowledge of pressure influence on solid-liquid-gas (S-L-G) equilibrium and solubility data of the system is crucial. S-L-G equilibrium data were determined in pressure range from 50 to 600 bar for systems monostearate/CO2 and tristearate/CO2 using a high-pressure view cell. Results showed a temperature minimum for both systems. The solubilities of CO2 in liquid glycerides were high: maximum solubilities, which were determined at temperatures 70 and 90 °C and pressure range from 50 to 450 bar, were from 50 to 90 mol%. Physical characteristics of micronized monostearate and tristearate samples were studied in detail after micronization and after 3 months of storage at 20 °C.

Sustainable business solutions through lean product lifecycle management
Valentina Gečevska, Nedeljko Stefanic, Ivica Veža, Franc Čuš, 2012, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: In today's process manufacturing environment, innovation is viewed as critical to sustainable growth and business profitability. While open innovation is regarded as the answer, the companies can effectively measure the return on R&D investment, have acceptable product success rates, achieve acceptable promotional effectiveness, or have visibility into their compliance risks or operational readiness for new product launches. While open innovation is an actual topic, capitalizing on the opportunity requires holistic strategy, not just increased collaboration. Companies must have repeatable, compliant and responsive business processes, global information infrastructure that provides a single source of the truth, alignment across departments and solutions that evolve without coding. With holistic strategy and supporting infrastructure, companies can consistently minimize the time to scale, improve product success rates and promotional effectiveness, and enjoy sustainable and profitable growth. With open innovation providing unlimited opportunities, the company should start to identify the best open innovation opportunity and deliver top and bottom line of the company's benefits. The companies must first focus on the needs of their customer, continually minimize time to scale, eliminate waste, drive out costs and improve. These are core concepts of a Lean strategy. This paper will describe how Lean concept with PLM business strategy can leverage Lean with integrated compliance, continual improvement and other PLM best practices to increase the return on R&D investments and provide sustainable and profitable growth for business processes mainly manufacturing processes. The purpose of this paper is to review PLM approach linked to Lean concepts in order to achieve sustainable and innovative business processes with sustainable and profitable growth.

Adsorption and antibacterial activity of soluble and precipitated chitosan on cellulose viscose fibers
Lidija Fras Zemljič, Tijana Ristić, Tina Tkavc, 2012, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The aim and novelty of this work was to compare the adsorption of totally-soluble chitosan (acidic solution) against the adsorption of precipitated chitosan, onto cellulose fibers. The influences of both these chitosan-adsorption procedures on a final amino groupćs content in functionalized cellulose fibers were studied, using potentiometric titration and the conventional spectrophotometric C.I. Acid Orange 7 method. Surface modification and adsorption of chitosan were, in addition, monitored by determining XPS spectra. The antimicrobial activities of both chitosan- functionalised cellulose fibers were examined, in regard to pathogen bacteria and fungus.

Computational fluid dynamics by boundary-domain integral method
Leopold Škerget, Matjaž Hriberšek, G. Kuhn, 1999, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: A boundary-domain integral method for the solution of general transport phenomena incompressible fluid motion given by the Navier-Stokes equation set is presented. Velocity-vorticity formulation of the conservations is employed. Different integral representations for conservation field functions based on different fundamental solutions are developed. Special attention is given to the use of subdomain technique and Krylov subspace iterative solvers. The computed solutions of several benchmark problems agree well with available experimental and other computational results.
