Blockchain technology adoption for improved environmental supply chain performance : the mediation effect of supply chain resilience, customer integration, and green customer information sharing
Summer K. Mohamed, Sandra Haddad, Mahmoud Barakat, Bojan Rosi, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Due to the complexity of building supply chain resilience (SCR) towards long-term environmental sustainability amendments, the use of emerging technologies such as Blockchain Technology (BCT) can be adopted as an innovative tool to enhance the sustainability and resilience of supply chains, especially in uncertain environments. Drawing on the Knowledge-Based View (KBV) and Dynamic Capability View (DCV), this research aims to demonstrate how the adoption of BCT can enhance the environmental supply chain performance (SCP). A total of 603 valid surveys were collected from respondents from manufacturing and service organizations in Egypt. The collected data were analyzed using structural equation modelling, and results revealed that BCT adoption alone had a negative direct impact on environmental SCP. However, when this relationship was mediated by SCR and sequentially mediated by customer integration and green customer information sharing, the results were positive. This research presents insights on how organizations can adapt to dynamic business environments, and, in addition, it extends the theories of KBV and DCV in an empirical contribution by filling the gap in understanding regarding how environmental SCP can be enhanced through the adoption of BCT.

Data sharing concepts : a viable system model diagnosis
Igor Perko, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Purpose Artificial intelligence (AI) reasoning is fuelled by high-quality, detailed behavioural data. These can usually be obtained by the biometrical sensors embedded in smart devices. The currently used data collecting approach, where data ownership and property rights are taken by the data scientists, designers of a device or a related application, delivers multiple ethical, sociological and governance concerns. In this paper, the author is opening a systemic examination of a data sharing concept in which data producers execute their data property rights. Design/methodology/approach Since data sharing concept delivers a substantially different alternative, it needs to be thoroughly examined from multiple perspectives, among them: the ethical, social and feasibility. At this stage, theoretical examination modes in the form of literature analysis and mental model development are being performed. Findings Data sharing concepts, framework, mechanisms and swift viability are examined. The author determined that data sharing could lead to virtuous data science by augmenting data producers' capacity to govern their data and regulators' capacity to interact in the process. Truly interdisciplinary research is proposed to follow up on this research. Research limitations/implications Since the research proposal is theoretical, the proposal may not provide direct applicative value but is largely focussed on fuelling the research directions. Practical implications For the researchers, data sharing concepts will provide an alternative approach and help resolve multiple ethical considerations related to the internet of things (IoT) data collecting approach. For the practitioners in data science, it will provide numerous new challenges, such as distributed data storing, distributed data analysis and intelligent data sharing protocols. Social implications Data sharing may post significant implications in research and development. Since ethical, legislative moral and trust-related issues are managed in the negotiation process, data can be shared freely, which in a practical sense expands the data pool for virtuous research in social sciences. Originality/value The paper opens new research directions of data sharing concepts and space for a new field of research.

Regulatory Aspects of Servitisation : Study Materials for Global Law Course
Janja Hojnik, 2024

Opis: This course material was prepared as a support for a lectures series under Global Law Programme organised by the Catholic University Leuven (Belgium), Faculty of Law and Criminology. The course dealt with EU regulatory challenges arising from the servitisation of manufacturing and the related sustainability and digitalisation process in the EU economy. Servitisation is a complex interdisciplinary concept that essentially stands for bringing together products and services. Servitization as an economic megatrend reflects consumers’ oriented business models, offering not just products to the buyers, but solutions to their problems. This solution offering is enhanced by digitalisation of the economy that makes the relationship between product-service providers and their customers easier to maintain due to various mechanisms of distant communication and monitoring. Moreover, servitisation is at the centre of the endeavours to establish a more sustainable circular economy. Adding services to products can prolong their consumption time, decrease the amount of materials needed for certain effect and improve waste management. Increasingly, however, it is clear that servitisation is not just related to environmental sustainability, but social as well. These services often require people to be performed and digital applications tend to decrease their rights as workers to the benefit of the owners of these applications.

Motivations for hosting on Airbnb : the case of Slovenia
Katja Kokot, Maja Turnšek, 2022, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: The ‘platform economy’ has evolved over the years into a global phenomenon. The focus of this paper is the motivations of Slovene hosts to use the Airbnb platform. While Airbnb was originally optimistically discussed as an element of ‘the sharing economy’, it has become known as one of the key players of the ‘platform economy’, belonging to the area of the so-called capital platforms, which allow participation-based primarily based on ownership of capital. Our research amongst a sample of 103 officially registered accommodation providers in Slovenia has shown that Airbnb is the second-most used platform, on average bringing a third of income for the surveyed participants, while Booking.com brings about half of their income. Furthermore, the results show that monetary motives prevail among Slovene hosts. However, social and moral motives are also strongly expressed. These findings indicate that the perceived primary purpose of Airbnb is generating additional earnings due to a surplus of real estate capital. A higher share of income from hosting in comparison to other types of income is correlated with the expressed importance of monetary motives. In contrast, the prevalence of social motives is influenced by fear of loneliness, cultural openness, and hosts’ global prosociality.

Barriers to applying last-mile logistics in the Egyptian market : an extension of the technology acceptance model
Mohamed Amr Sultan, Tomaž Kramberger, Mahmoud Barakat, Ahmed Hussein Ali, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Drawing on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), this research aims to investigate the impact of social, environmental, and technological barriers on adopting the last-mile logistics application. This research used a self-administrative questionnaire to collect 1060 respondents from the Egyptian market and analysed it using partial least square structural equation modeling. The findings revealed that some elements could obstruct the implementation of last-mile delivery technologies, namely complexity, collaboration efforts between users and application developers and the impact of technical knowledge and expertise on the potentially involved users. The sharing economy helps organisations reduce contaminants, emissions and carbon footprints, and last-mile logistics is one of the tools of the sharing economy that can enhance the productivity and competitiveness of logistics and boost consumer fulfillment. This research will help enhance organisations’ performance in Egypt as a developing country and push towards applying environmental sustainability practices, as it introduces a tool to enhance customer satisfaction and reduce emissions by illustrating how last-mile logistics can be implemented. This is particularly important as last-mile logistics face some implementation barriers, especially in developing countries. In addition, it will help in extending the theory through conceptualising its abstract ideas with the research variables and applying it in a different context.

Towards trusted data sharing and exchange in agro-food supply chains: design principles for agricultural data spaces
Martina Šestak, Daniel Copot, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: In the modern agricultural landscape, realizing data’s full potential requires a unified infrastructure where stakeholders collaborate and share their data to gain insights and create business value. The agricultural data ecosystem (ADE) serves as a crucial socio-technical infrastructure, aggregating diverse data from various platforms and, thus, advertising sustainable agriculture and digitalization. Establishing trustworthy data sharing and exchange in agro-food value chains involves socioeconomic and technological elements addressed by the agricultural data space (ADS) and its trust principles. This paper outlines key challenges to data sharing in agro-food chains impeding ADE establishment based on the review of 27 studies in scientific literature. Challenges mainly arise from stakeholders’ mistrust in the data-sharing process, inadequate data access and use policies, and unclear data ownership agreements. In the ADE context, interoperability is a particularly challenging topic for ensuring the long-term sustainability of the system. Considering these challenges and data space principles and building blocks, we propose a set of design principles for ADS design and implementation that aim to mitigate the adverse impact of these challenges and facilitate agricultural data sharing and exchange.

Z anketiranjem tujih poslovnih gostov smo potrdili njihovo zanimanje za souporabo avtomobila in predlagali nova prevzemno-vračilna mesta avtomobilov v neposredni bližini najpomembnejših turističnih znamenitosti v Sloveniji in prometnih središčih. Tuje poslovne goste je treba z možnostjo souporabe avtomobila seznaniti že pred prihodom v Slovenijo.

Metka Bauer, 2016, diplomsko delo

Ana Marija Lach, 2014, magistrsko delo

Opis: This master thesis researches online media file sharing. The primary goal is the identification of changes in media content and the identification of changes in users and their way of consuming that content, due to sharing media content online and the rise of the remix culture. The main research interest lies in the triangle “Online media content sharing – media content – media user”. We overviewed history, development and technology related to file sharing. We briefly addressed legal issues, explained terms like Digital Rights Management, fair use and Creative Commons, we assessed the impact of copyright law on innovation in media, and we explored remix culture as a direct consequence of file sharing practices. We researched secondary sources in order to identify the influence of file sharing on media content and found that the majority of changes in the last decade occurred because of file sharing technologies and users of such technologies, whether it was with the intent of resisting or adjusting to them. In order to research the user-end of the triangle, we conducted a survey among 104 Internet users in Croatia and found that file sharers tend to be more affectionate of media content than non file sharers. They are also more likely to buy media content and spend more money on it, with the exception of books.
