1. Evaluation of the simultaneous operation of the mechanisms for cross-border interchange and activation of the regulating reservesMarcel Topler, Boštjan Polajžer, 2021, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This article examines the mechanisms for cross-border interchange of the regulating
reserves (RRs), i.e., the imbalance-netting process (INP) and the cross-border activation of the
RRs (CBRR). Both mechanisms are an additional service of frequency restoration reserves in the
power system and connect different control areas (CAs) via virtual tie-lines to release RRs and
reduce balancing energy. The primary objective of the INP is to net the demand for RRs between
the cooperating CAs with different signs of interchange power variation. In contrast, the primary
objective of the CBRR is to activate the RRs in the cooperating CAs with matching signs of interchange
power variation. In this way, the ancillary services market and the European balancing system should
be improved. However, both the INP and CBRR include a frequency term and thus impact the
frequency response of the cooperating CAs. Therefore, the impact of the simultaneous operation of the
INP and CBRR on the load-frequency control (LFC) and performance is comprehensively evaluated
with dynamic simulations of a three-CA testing system, which no previous studies investigated
before. In addition, a function for correction power adjustment is proposed to prevent the undesirable
simultaneous activation of the INP and CBRR. In this way, area control error (ACE) and scheduled
control power are decreased since undesired correction is prevented. The dynamic simulations
confirmed that the simultaneous operation of the INP and CBRR reduced the balancing energy
and decreased the unintended exchange of energy. Consequently, the LFC and performance were
improved in this way. However, the impact of the INP and CBRR on the frequency quality has no
unambiguous conclusions. Ključne besede: frequency quality, load-frequency control, regulating reserves, cross-border interchange, cross-border activation Objavljeno v DKUM: 16.06.2025; Ogledov: 0; Prenosov: 2

2. Chemical and fruit skin colour markers for simple quality control of tomato fruitsVesna Mila Meden, Tatjana Unuk, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The orientation of this research was to evaluate the classic parameters regarding the external and internal quality of tomato fruits cv. ‘Brilliant‘ at different stages of maturity and to define the dynamics of their changes during the ripening in storage at 18 °C. Principal component analysis (PCA) and multivariate canonical discriminant analysis (DA) were used to classify tomato samples according to quality (internal and external) and nutritional value based on fruit mass, fruit skin colour, contents of soluble solids (SS), total titratable acids (TTA), ascorbic acid (AA), and total antioxidant potential (TAP). Several methods are usedfor determining AA content and TAP in plant samples. A simple routine method, direct redox titration with iodate solution and spectrophotometric determination of TAPSP, as described by Singleton and Rossi, also called total phenols, were used respectively. The results show that the stage of maturity (based on fruit skin colour) strongly determines the quality and nutritional value of the tomato fruit. Tomatoes harvested at table maturity (red colour, index a*/b* ≥ 0.85) have a significantly higher nutritional value (in terms of antioxidants – TAPSP and AA content) and overall quality than those harvested at an earlier maturity stage and then ripened in storage. This brings out the importance of short food supply chains and, from the viewpoint of overall fruit quality, it raises doubt about harvesting before reaching table maturity. On the other hand, it is necessary to be extremely attentive when determining optimal maturity, because when the plant becomes over-ripe or when stored, the nutritional value and overall quality decrease drastically. Besides the colour parameters, AA content is the most important chemical marker for a simple quality control. By using a simple and reliable analytical method for determining AA content, such as direct redox titratiation, the monitoring of tomato fruit quality could also be easily performed in situ. 3.
5. Fuzzy logic based quality monitoring in short-circuit gas metal arc weldingMarjan Golob, Arpad Köveš, 2007, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Conventional methods, e.g. destructive and non-destructive testing methods, are expensive and time-consuming; therefore, possibilities of online and automated quality control of a welding process during welding as such are investigated. The paper deals with the possibilities of application of fuzzy logic to the analysis of weld quality, particularly assessment of the weld surface condition by means of measurable electric signals emitted during welding. A simple fuzzy inference system was realised which could relatively efficiently assess the weld quality on the basis of time variations of the welding voltage and short-circuit time in a certain time window.
