Artificial intelligence and agility-based model for successful project implementation and company competitiveness

Opis: The purpose of the paper is to present a model of factors affecting the successful project implementation by introducing agility and artificial intelligence to increase the company’s competitiveness. In the model, the multidimensional constructs describing the implementation of an agile work environment and artificial intelligence technologies and tools were developed. These multidimensional constructs are agile work environment, agile leadership, agile team skills and capabilities, improving the work of the leader in the project, adopting AI technologies in the project, and using AI solutions in a project. Their impact on successful project implementation and on the company competitiveness was tested. The fundamental reason for conducting this research and developing the model is to enhance the understanding of factors that contribute to the successful implementation of projects and to increase a company’s competitiveness. Our developed model encompasses multidimensional constructs that describe the agile work environment and the utilization of AI technologies. By examining the impact of these constructs on both successful project implementation and company competitiveness, we aimed to establish a comprehensive framework that captures the relationship between agility, AI, and successful project implementation. This model serves as a valuable tool for companies seeking to improve their project implementation processes and gain a competitive edge in the market. The research was based on a sample of 473 managers/owners in medium-sized and large companies. Structural equation modeling was used to test the hypotheses. In today’s turbulent environment, the results will help develop guidelines for a successful combination of agile business practices and artificial intelligence to achieve successful project implementation, increasing a company’s competitiveness.

Multi-criteria measurement of ai support to project management

Opis: This paper aims to measure the level of artificial intelligence (AI) support to project management (PM) in selected service sector activities. The exploratory factor analysis was employed based on the extensive survey on AI in Slovenian companies and the multi-criteria measurement with an emphasis on value functions and pairwise comparisons in the analytic hierarchy process. The synthesis and performance sensitivity analysis results show that in the service sector, concerning all criteria, PM is with the level 0.276 best supported with AI in services of professional, scientific, and technical activities, which also stand out concerning the first-level goals in using AI solutions in a project with the value 0.284, and in successful project implementation using AI with the value 0.301. Although the lowest level of AI support to PM, which is 0.220, is in services of wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, these services excel in adopting AI technologies in a project with a value of 0.277. Services of financial and insurance activities, with the level 0.257 second-ranked concerning all criteria, have the highest value of 0.269 concerning the first-level goal of improving the work of project leaders using AI. The paper, therefore, contributes to the comparison of AI support to PM in service sector activities. The results can help AI development policymakers determine which activities need to be supported and which should be set as an example. The presented methodological frame can serve to perform measurements and benchmarking in various research fields.

Enhancing the performance of high-growth small- and medium-sized enterprises through effective project- management processes and stakeholder engagement : a systems perspective

Opis: This study examines the impact of project management practices on high-growth Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (HG SMEs) from a systems perspective, utilizing Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) and data from a diverse SME sample. It investigates the intricate relationships among project management system support, project management processes, stakeholder involvement, project management success, project success, and HG SME growth. Our findings highlight the substantial positive influence of project management processes and stakeholder engagement on project management success. These factors subsequently contribute significantly to both project success and the overall growth of HG SMEs. Notably, project management system support does not exhibit a substantial influence on these success factors. Furthermore, our research uncovers important indirect effects. Project management processes indirectly impact both project success and HG SME growth, underscoring their central role. Similarly, stakeholder involvement indirectly influences HG SME growth through its impact on project success, emphasizing its significance. This study contributes to the existing body of knowledge by emphasizing the critical roles of project management processes, stakeholder engagement, and project success as drivers of SME growth. These insights have valuable implications for SME managers, project leaders, and policymakers, highlighting the essential nature of effective project management in shaping the growth trajectory of SMEs.

A review of energy-efficient and sustainable construction scheduling supported with optimization tools

Opis: This article reviews the accomplishments of studies in which optimization tools were used to develop energy-efficient and sustainable construction schedules. With the increase in global awareness of environmental issues, the construction industry has been forced to explore innovative techniques to make the building process more energy-efficient and sustainable. Project managers can use optimization tools in their scheduling procedures to address these issues in the early stages of the project. Therefore, this paper examines different optimization-based construction scheduling methods and their impact on schedule energy efficiency and the three key sustainability goals: economic viability, social equity, and environmental protection. Such a review has not yet been conducted to the best of our knowledge. This research aims to fill the gap and contribute to understanding advanced optimization tools that can pave the way to energy-efficient and sustainable scheduling practices. After a brief introduction, the background of optimization-based construction scheduling techniques that aim to improve construction management and incorporate these aspects into the decision-making process is explained. Then, these approaches are addressed in detail. It is determined for each study whether it adopted energy efficiency goals and which sustainability dimensions it considered within the proposed optimization model. The results of this study indicate a wide heuristic algorithms application for complex scheduling problems. Meanwhile, mathematical programming is still quite unexplored, especially methods that utilize algebraic modeling languages. This study provides a foundation for further research by addressing the current reach in development and possible knowledge gaps that could be researched in future studies. The paper also discusses the advantages and limitations of different approaches and illustrates the potential for utilizing these methods. Supported by the main review findings, conclusions and recommendations for further research are provided.

Organiziranje poroke s strani poročnega organizatorja

Opis: Poroka ali sklenitev zakonske zveze je dogodek, na katerem si partnerja obljubita večno zvestobo. Vse poroke ne potekajo na enak način, saj se med seboj razlikujejo. Na poroko se je treba pripraviti. Proces organiziranja poroke je dolgotrajen in se redko kdaj zgodi z danes na jutri. Dolgoročne in skrbno organizirane priprave na poroko bodo paru zmanjšale tveganje za napake na poročni dan. Organiziranje porok je priporočljivo za lažji potek poročnega dne. Je najdaljša in hkrati tudi najpomembnejša faza v projektu. Par se v tej fazi odloča o vseh izvajalcih, ki bodo pomagali izpeljati poročni dan, o vseh končnih podrobnostih, o dekoraciji na poročni dan ipd. Vse odločitve vzamejo paru ogromno časa, še posebej če se par s poroko sooča prvič v življenju. Nikjer ni zapisanih pravil, kako se soočati s tako organizacijo in nikjer ni zapisan vrstni red aktivnosti. S pomočjo vsega znanja, ki smo ga pridobili pri predmetu Management projektov in literature, ki se navezuje na izpeljavo takega dogodka, smo izdelali projekt organizacije poroke, ki smo ga nato preslikali v program MS Project 2019. Za lažje razumevanje smo naredili SWOT-analizo ter prikazali vse potrebne korake, ki so potrebni za realizacijo projekta. Med seboj smo primerjali izdelavo projekta brez pomoči poročnega organizatorja in s poročnim organizatorjem. Ugotovili smo, da če si par želi več prostega časa in manjšo stopnjo tveganja pri organizaciji poroke, je smiselno najeti poročnega organizatorja.

Digitalna transformacija v gradbeništvu

Opis: Digitalna transformacija se z razlogom ponaša z nazivom četrta industrijska revolucija. Prelomne tehnologije, kot so velike količine podatkov, poslovanje v oblaku, internet stvari, delo na daljavo, tehnologija veriženja blokov, omogočajo gospodarskim panogam nesluten napredek v vseh panogah. Z vpeljavo novih tehnologij v poslovne procese se drastično spreminja način dela in poslovna kultura. Podjetja, ki v proces digitalne transformacije ne zmorejo ali ne želijo, na tržišču izgubljajo konkurenčno prednost. V gradbeni panogi so procesi med manj informatiziranimi, kar velja tudi na globalni ravni. Gradbena podjetja se zelo oklepajo klasičnih tehnologij. V gradbeni panogi procesi potekajo drugače kot v preostalih vejah industrije. Vsak projekt v gradbeništvu je enkraten in neponovljiv, zato je delo težko vkalupiti v module celovitih rešitev novih tehnologij. Kljub temu pa je v procesih moč najti elemente, ki se iz projekta v projekt ponavljajo in na njih graditi digitalno transformacijo. V magistrskem delu smo raziskali in opisali digitalno transformacijo na splošno, proces izvajanja strategij s projekti. Predstavili smo tudi elemente informacijskega sistema s poudarkom na projektno informacijskem sistemu ter digitalno transformacijo v gospodarski panogi gradbeništva v Sloveniji. Dejstvo je, da gradbeništvo v digitalni transformaciji zaostaja za preostalimi gospodarskimi panogami. Zato bo potrebnega še veliko dela z osveščanjem izvajalcev in naročnikov, investitorjev.

Development and validation of open source CTD sensor : magistrsko delo

Opis: The CTD sensor captures measurements of conductivity, temperature and depth of the oceans. Scientists lack this data to discover unexplored areas of the oceans, as measuring systems and maintaining them are very expensive. The aim of this master's thesis is to produce a open source CTD sensor that will be cost-effective, accurate enough to make the data credible and attachable to a sea turtle. Through the thesis we learned about the theoretical background of processes in the oceans, reviewed the measurement methods for measuring conductivity, temperature and pressure. We made a circuit for measuring conductivity and measuring electrodes from graphite DC motor brushes. We validated all the sensors and finally assembled them into the first prototype of a CTD sensor.

Planiranje kapacitet v orodjarstvu s pomočjo orodij microsoft project in microsoft excel

Opis: Orodjarstvo je panoga, vključena v skoraj vsak proizvodni proces v industriji, in sicer od zamisli prek planiranja do izdelave izdelka. V času, ko sta hitrost in kakovost nadvse pomembni, se tudi orodjarne, slovenske, evropske in ostale, srečujejo s problematiko, kako svoj izdelek narediti čim hitreje in čimbolj kakovostno ter kako hitro je le-ta lahko pri svojem kupcu. V diplomski nalogi predstavljamo, kako v orodjarstvu s pomočjo računalniških (programskih orodij) Microsoft Project in Microsoft Excel planirati kapacitete tako, da je najboljše izdelan izdelek čim hitreje pri svojem kupcu. Obe programski opremi bodisi Microsoft Project bodisi Microsoft Excel sta odlični za planiranje, a sta le delček orodij, ki jih uporablja konkurenca. Seveda pa zgolj računalniški programi niso dovolj za učinkovito planiranje. Vsi procesi skupaj morajo delovati kot celota. Zato je bistvenega pomena, da se optimizacija prične že pri sami pripravi projekta, na samem začetku, kjer se lahko reši že ogromno težav, za katere bi v prihodnje porabili ogromno sredstev in pa časa. Predvsem smo opazili, da je še ogromno stvari, na katerih lahko gradimo našo prihodnost, ne samo pri planiranju, uporabi novejših računalniško podprtih sistemov in pa navsezadnje tudi nekaj samoiniciative, s katero lahko že vsak zaposlen v podjetju pripomore, da bo delo potekalo po predvidenem planu oziroma še boljše. Izpeljava projekta do končnega cilja – predati orodje naročniku oziroma kupcu.
