Coordination of school science classroom furnishings with anthropometric parameters for 11-12 year-old children
Nataša Rizman Herga, Samo Fošnarič, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The aim of the research was to explore the size suitability of school furnishings with the help of anthropometric measurements established on 11-12 year-old pupils. These pupils who have switched from single classroom teaching to teaching by subject and have lessons in specialized classrooms that are designed for a specific school subject. We were interested in the discrepancies between pupils' anthropometric dimensions and the size of school furniture in science classrooms. The study included 192 pupils (N=192) in the 6th and 7th grades of primary schools in North-Eastern Slovenia. Readings were made of the pupils' anthropometric dimensions, including stature, popliteal height, buttock-popliteal length, elbow height sitting, thigh thickness, subscapular height and hip width. Measurements of the school furniture showed that the dimensions of desks designed according to ISO 5970 correspond to a size 6 (for those between 173 and 184 cm tall). Results of the anthropometric measurements have shown that 6th grade pupils are on average 152 cm tall, 7th grade pupils 160 cm. The research thus indicated a serious mismatch between school furnishings and the anthropometric dimensions, an issue which can have serious consequences for pupils' development.

Preference for visual motifs in first grades of primary school
Matjaž Duh, Jerneja Herzog, Špela Ros, 2013, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: A visual motif is an important component of an art project and is the thing initially detected in the visual art. A suitable introduction into visual motifs is provided by art education classes. A teacher can enable a successful execution of an art project to a pupil, only with a detailed introduction into visual motifs. These are not defined with the curriculum; instead, they are freely chosen by the teacher himself. The motifs should be more unusual, out of the ordinary, colourful and original. With the right approach and the selection of artworks, the teacher can develop artistic creativity in his pupils. At the same time, pupils can develop the ability for observation, critical analysis and evaluation of visual art. In this article, a study is presented, whose purpose was to examine the preferences for visual motifs by gender and stratum of pupils on 4th level of primary school. The findings show the differences are more commonly reflected through gender, and less through stratum from which the pupils originate.

Art expression of identical twins
Matjaž Duh, Lucija Gosak, 2012, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The presented research discusses art expression of identical twins in different art fields: drawing, painting and sculpting. The research sample included two elementary school boys of age 12. With the help of a case study we observed, analyzed and studied artworks of these two identical twins. We established that the artistic expression of identical twins is similar at drawing and painting. At sculpting, the final artworks visually differ, but the boys used similar art and design strategies.
