1. Motor efficiency in relation to body weight status and gender in preschool childrenMiran Muhič, 2024, original scientific article Abstract: Deficits in motor skills and function are associated with overweight and obesity in children. This study aimed to investigate the development of motor efficiency in 3-4-year-old children over seven months and to identify possible gender and body weight status differences in motor efficiency. In the study, there were 45 children (21 girls, 24 boys), the mean age of whom was 39 months. Analysis of the results of testing for differences in motor efficiency according to body weight status and movement components showed no statistically significant differences (p>0.05) between healthy weight and overweight children. 2. Recommendation systems, parents, and preschool children : the story behind digital technologyLorena Mihelač, 2024, original scientific article Abstract: A survey was conducted in November 2023, involving 554 Slovenian parents and their preschool-aged children. The survey aimed to investigate the following: (i) the way parents and their preschool-aged children employ social media and digital technology; (ii) the parents’ comprehension of the term “information bubbles”, and (iii) the parents’ awareness of recommendation systems. Parental and child digital technology patterns and behaviours are correlated, according to the findings. The results suggest that most parents have a restricted understanding of the operational mechanisms of recommendation systems and how they contribute to the construction of “information bubbles.” Keywords: recommendation systems, parents and preschool children, digital technology, social media Published in DKUM: 29.07.2025; Views: 0; Downloads: 4

4. Dance creativity in kindergarten : improvisation as a method for identifying dance talent in childrenAna Tina Jurgec, 2025, independent scientific component part or a chapter in a monograph Abstract: Dance improvisation is a spontaneous and free form of expression that intertwines movement and imagination, creating space for creativity. The creativity expressed through dance improvisation represents a key category in identifying dance talent in children, as it provides insight into their ability for free expression and original movement. The aim of our study was to explore the characteristics of dance improvisation in early childhood, with a focus on physical activity and the formation of movement in children. We employed a quantitative research approach, collecting data through an observational protocol. The study included 246 children aged 5-6 years from 38 public kindergartens across Slovenia. Our findings serve as an important foundation for further research on monitoring dance improvisation in preschool children and for a deeper understanding of the role of body movement in children's creative dance expression. 6. Construction of the Scale of child's attachment to his/her kindergarten teacher (CAKT)Zlatka Cugmas, 2009, original scientific article Abstract: In the theoretical part of this paper, the author gives answers to the question of whether a real attachment relationship can exist between a child and a non-maternal caretaker. She mentions the established methods of measuring the child's attachment to the kindergarten teacher. She presents The scale of child's attachment to his/her kindergarten teacher (CAKT), which is based on authors previous findings and the experience of other authors in the forming of psychological instruments of this type. The scale was tested in a research which involved twenty-five kindergarten teachers who participated in the evaluation of 178 children (49.4% boys). Children ranged in age from 3 to 6 years. The purpose of the study was to investigate the dimensionality and internal consistency of the Scale. It was established that the psychometric characteristics of the Scale were adequate. This paper also presents the limitations of the research, which should be considered in the interpretation of the obtained results. Replication studies using clinical groups and samples from different cultures will be needed to assess a possible generalization of the presented results. 7. The development of four-year-old child's competences with the help of information-communication technologyJurka Lepičnik-Vodopivec, Pija Samec, 2012, original scientific article Abstract: Nowadays it is very difficult to avoid the information-communication technology. It is present everywhere: in the business world, civil services, education, at home. The ability to search, choose and use relevant data and information among endless choices, offered by the modern technology, is also seen as a key competence. This article presents the influence which the ICT has on the development of four-year-old children's competences. The present issue is a part of an extensive study which also deals with children's access to the ICT and its usage at home. The data was gathered with the help of 130 parents, who filled out a questionnaire and provided us with their opinions about their children's usage of the ICT at home. We discovered that the ICT influences the development of certain competences to some extent. We also tried to see if there are any differences based on the child's gender and parents' level of education.
