Principal space-related transformation processes demonstrated by maps of the Atlas of Eastern and Southeastern Europe
Peter Jordan, 2008, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The article highlights some principal transformation processes in the post-Communist transformation countries of Central and Southeast Europe. This comprises (1) environmental change, (2) growing spatial disparities, (3) democratic transformation with a focus on administrative decentralisation and (4) the consequences of a rise in national and ethnic consciousness. As its main source this article is based on the Atlas of Eastern and Southeastern Europe, edited as a thematic map series since 1989 by the author of this article.

Urbanisation, urban environmental quality, national socio-economic conditions and diseases burden in Africa
Richard Ingwe, 2013, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The investigation of socio-economic, political and environmental aspects of urbanization in Africa is gaining research attention. Most recently, information on the patterns in urbanization, population growth, slumisation, among other aspects of urban Africa within the past quarter of a century or thereabout were reported. While this report elucidated on the relevant challenges, it was restricted to the regional patterns of the variables investigated. This report indicates that more information on the sub-regional aspects of these variables is required to elucidate on urban planning in the region and its sub-regions. Here, the ways forward in investigating these issues and variables underlying them are outlined. The theoretical, methodological, spatial and temporal aspects or requirements of the proposed research are discussed to provide a compass for future research.

Depleting state of stratospheric ozone
Mohammad Afsar Alam, 2016, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: Though the basic needs of the humans are prioritized first, health and quality of environment are also equally important. Environmental issues are based on many and different things. One of these is the depleting state of Stratospheric Ozone in the atmosphere. The ozone layer is vital to life on earth because it acts as a filter for UV radiation, which can have severe impacts on human health and the earth’s environment. As estimated, every one per cent decrease in the ozone layer results in the increase of ultraviolet light intensity at the earth's surface by two per cent. Known effects of ultraviolet exposure include greater incidence of skin cancer and eye cataracts among humans and diminished crop yields for foods such as peas, beans, and squash and soya beans. Phytoplankton, the tiny one celled Ocean plants that are staple food for squid, fish, seals, and whales also are vulnerable to Ultra violet radiations. Depletion of ozone layer is one of the main issues of the world today. Concerning to these issue two important meetings had been hold i.e. known by the Montreal Protocol and Vienna Convention. Most of the world countries are part of this Montreal Protocol and Vienna Convention. Eritrea is also part of Montreal Protocol and Vienna Convention. In the present paper basically an attempt has been made to show the world’s concern in general and the Eritrea’s in particular about the conservation measures taken on mitigation of Ozone layer. This research paper also emphasizes on the global problem of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODSs) releasing from different industries and specific sources. Besides, the study further includes the existence of naturally created Ozone hole on the Polar Regions.

Evaluation of the influence of the macro-environment on the social innovation activity of enterprises
Liliya Satalkina, Nestor Shpak, 2018, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Background: Nowadays the emphasis on social components in the general mainstream of innovation activity is one of the strongest grounds for the successful functioning and development of enterprises. In several countries, social innovation activity is becoming a product of business in general, with associated expectations regarding profit. Objectives: The goal of the article is to develop a toolkit for the evaluation of the influence of the macro-environment on the social innovation activity (SIA) of enterprises. Method: The methodology includes elements of theoretical and empirical research with the implementation of methods such as a literature review, all types of analysis, and methods of aggregation and integration. Questionnaires were used as a means of data collection. Results: The general methodological framework of diagnostics of the SIA macro-environment is distinguished. Based on a theoretical analysis of the SIA ecosystem and the experience of operating enterprises, the main factors of SIA macro-environment are determined. The general integrated index and its five-level interpretational model are proposed as a measure for the evaluation of the SIA macro-environment. Conclusion: The results presented provide data necessary for the argumentation of SIA strategy and tactics, as well as investment policy in this sphere.

Environmental management & audit 4: Environmental assessment - featured articles
2016, znanstvena monografija

Opis: The present scientific monograph, entitled “Environmental management & audit“, is the result of three years’ work on an international project entitled “Environmental management in Russian companies – retraining courses for the sensibilization for and integration of Eco-Audit programs in corporate decision-making (RECOAUD)”. Within its more than 600 pages, the monograph features interesting texts written by 31 authors from the European Union and the Russian Federation, edited by dr. Borut Jereb, Darja Kukovič and dr. Daria Meyr. The monograph “Environmental management & audit“ is composed of four books: “Scarcity and Introduction of Environmental Management”, “Management Systems”, “Controlling and Stakeholders”, and “Environmental Assessment” (Featured Articles). These four topics reflect the complexity, heterogeneity and multidisciplinary of the project Tempus RECOAUD. The reader of the monograph gets a comprehensive overview of theoretical perspectives of environmental management and audit in the chosen areas. Furthermore, the monograph also highlights the results of research in the field of environmental management and audit as well as trends and challenges in the development of this field. Providing insight into theoretical and research findings, the monograph will prove useful to both practitioners and researchers in the field of environmental management and audit; it can also be used for study purposes.

Legal aspects of health implications caused by environmental distress
Rajko Knez, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The article tries to explore legal consequences in cases where the environmental distress causes health implications for individuals. The author begins with the observations from two different angles, that is ex ante and ex post actions. Both approaches differ substantively, since the ex ante approach is applied by state authorities (command-and-control approach, de iure imperii acts), while the ex post approach is by a general rule initiated by individuals against polluters/state. Both approaches are discussed considering the application of EU rules and beyond (ECHR, Aarhus convention). The main emphasis is given to one of the biggest problems, that is the issue of causality, which discourages many plaintiffs from claiming damages. For the so-called post-industrial risks the conventional rules of causality do not suffice, which is why certain courts proposed that changes in this respect are necessary. In addition, the role of NGOs is emphasised, since the NGO can, especially in the ex ante approach, achieve better effects, especially when locus standi is assured.
