EVTANAZIJA MED MEDICINO IN PRAVOM,Dileme pravnega urejanja evtanazije
Tadej Kamnik, 2009, diplomsko delo

Investigation of the bullwhip effect using spreadsheet simulation
Borut Buchmeister, 2008, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Superior supply chains are one of the best ways to compete in today's marketplaces. In Supply Chain Management, overall supply chain evaluation needs to include an important logistical effect known as the Bullwhip Effect. It shows how small changes at the demand end of a supply chain are progressively amplified up the supply chain. Production plans are based on demand forecasting and suppliers not only react an changed demand, they adapt the level of safety stock (variation of stocks and orders increases). In this paper two special situations in a four-stage supply chain are studied: i) stable demand with a single 5 % change in demand (with application of four different stock keeping policies), and ii) changing demand with alternating 5 % changes in demand (up and down, with another three stock keeping policies). The results of spreadsheet simulations are shown in tables and charts. Increasing variability of production orders and stock levels up the supply chain is evident. The Bullwhip Effect is measured by the standard deviation of orders. The comparison of the results shows that the Bullwhip Effect can be partially reduced by appropriate stock keeping policy.

Numerical analysis of constraint effect on ductile tearing in strength mismatched welded CCT specimens using micromechanical approach
Bashir Younise, Marko Rakin, Bojan Medjo, Nenad Gubeljak, Dražan Kozak, Aleksandar Sedmak, 2011, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: In this paper, constraint effect on ductile fracture initiation and propagation has been studied. Three-dimensional finite element analyses of mismatched welded joints made of high strength steel, have been performed for centre-cracked tensile (CCT) specimens. Different weld widths and material mismatching ratios have been considered. Ductile fracture parameter, crack tip opening displacement at crack growth initiation (CTODi), has been obtained for centre-cracked tensile (CCT) specimens using local approach to fracture and compared with experimental results of single edge bend specimens. Micromechanical complete Gurson model has been applied to investigate fracture behaviour of cracked welded joints. Crack tip constraint has been analysed through stress triaxiality in order to study transferability of fracture parameters from one geometry to another.

Bullwhip effect problem in supply chains
Borut Buchmeister, Jože Pavlinjek, Iztok Palčič, Andrej Polajnar, 2008, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: In Supply Chain Management, a phenomenon called the "Bullwhip Effect" has attracted considerable attention. Overall supply chain evaluation needs to include the Bullwhip Effect. The Bullwhip Effect shows how small changes at the demand end of a supply chain are progressively amplified for operations further back in the chain. It is understood that demand forecast variance contributes to that effect in the chain. With this understanding, the authorsexperimented with two cases: stable demand with a single 5 % change in demand, and changing demand in periodic 10 % increases and later in the same decreases. Two stock keeping policies for all stages in the chain have been studied: to keep in stock i) one, and ü) two periods' demand. Results are shown in tables and charts. Increasing variability of production orders and stocks up the supply chain is evident. The effect indicates a lack of synchronization among supply chain members because of corrupt key information about actual demand. When we understand the nature of supply chain dynamics, there are several actions concerned with coordinating the activities of the operations in the chain, which is discussed in the last part of the paper.

Antimicrobial disinfection effect of a laundering procedure for hospital textiles against various indicator bacteria and fungi using different substrates for simulating human excrements
Sabina Fijan, Srečko Koren, Avrelija Cencič, Sonja Šostar-Turk, 2007, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Recent studies confirm the increase of nosocomial infections and microbial resistance. One of the possible causes is infected textiles due to inappropriate laundering procedures. Most Slovenian laundries use thermal laundering procedures with high energy and water consumption to disinfect hospital textiles. In addition to this fact, there is an increasing number of hospital textiles composed of cotton/polyester blends that cannot endure high temperatures of thermal disinfection. On the other hand, decreasing the temperature of laundering procedures enhances the possibility of pathogenic microorganisms to survive the laundering procedure. In our research, we determined the antimicrobic laundering effect by simulating a common laundering procedure for hospital textiles in the laboratory washing machine at different temperatures by the use of bioindicators. Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Mycobacterium terrae, Enterobacter aerogenes, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were used for determining the antibacterial laundering effect. Candida albicans was used for determining the antifungal laundering effect. Swine blood, artificial sweat, and swine fat were used as substrates for simulating human excrements and were inoculated together with the chosen microorganisms onto cotton pieces to simulate real laundering conditions. It was found that E. faecium, S. aureus, E. aerogenes, and P. aeruginosa survivedat 60 °C, but no microorganisms were found at 75 °C.

Micromechanical analysis of constraint effect on fracture initiation in strength mis-matched welded joints
Miloš Dobrojević, Marko Rakin, Nenad Gubeljak, I. Cvijović, Milorad Zrilić, N. Krunich, Aleksandar Sedmak, 2007, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: In this paper the micromechanical approach to ductile fracture was applied in a study of constraint effect crack growth initiation in mismatched welded joints. The single edged- notched bend specimens (precrack length ▫$a_o/W=0.32$▫) were experimentally and numerically analysed. The coupled micromechanical model prposed by Gurson, Tvergaard and Needleman was used. Constraint effect was tested by varying widths of the welded joints (6, 12 and 18 mm). HSLA steel was used as the base metal in a quenched and tempered condition. The flux-cored arx-welding process in shielding gas was used. Two different fillers were selected to obtain over- and undermatched weld metal. The micromechanical parameters used in prediction of the crack growth initiation on precracked specimen were calibrated on a round smmoth specimen. The difference in fracture behaviour between over- and undermatched welded joints obtained in experimental results was followed by numerical computationsof void volume fraction in front of the crack tip.

Mott-Peierls phase in deuterated copper-DCNQI systems: a comprehensive study of longitudinal and transverse conductivity and ageing effects
Marko Pinterić, Tomislav Vuletić, Martin Lončarić, Konstantin Petukhov, Boris Gorshunov, Jost Ulrich von Schütz, Silvija Tomić, Martin Dressel, 2003, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Transport and low-frequency optical reflection measurements (180-380 GHz) are reported for the quasi-three-dimensional conducting alloy ▫$Cu[(2,5(CH_3)_2-DCNQI)_{0.70}(2,5(CD_3)_2-DCNQI)_{0.30}]_2$▫ between room temperature and 35 K. The optical properties of the system are strongly anisotropic. It is metallic down to 60 K where a Mott-Peierls phase transition occurs. While the transverse conductivity remains practically unchanged, the longitudinal conductivity abruptly drops at the phase transition. Comparing our latest results with previous dc data and measurements of the microwave conductivity also reported here, we find indications of an ageing effect in these samples.

Inventory cost consequences of variability demand process within a multi-echelon supply chain
Francisco Campuzano Bolarín, Andrej Lisec, Francisco Cruz Lario Esteban, 2008, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The bullwhip effect (Lee et al, 1997a) is a known supply chain phenomenon where small variations in end item demand create oscillations that amplify throughout the chain. Different price elasticity of demand influence different changes of demand when prices of items are changing on the time horizon. The variance of the orders at the end user placed on suppliers or on manufacturer increases with the orders flow upstream in the logistics chain. This creates harmful consequences in inventory levels and all kind of inventory costs that may affect added value of activities along the logistics chain and finally affect Net Present Value of all activities in the chain. Traditional model of dynamic supply chain structures is used for this particular study, based on the seminal work of Forrester Diagrams (Forrester 1961). Simulation platform for supply chain management at stochastic demand developed by Campuzano (2006) has been used. VENSIM Simulation Software was previously used for developing these supply chain dynamic models. In the development platform generalised supply chain models are constructed graphically and also analytically. Our study here is to get a dipper insight into the processes in a logistics chain, measuring the inventory cost consequences due to variability demand amplification.
