2. Method review for assessing damage to human health in LCA : implementation in the production of selected food productsMatjaž Denac, Tinkara Ošlovnik, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Agriculture and food production can cause a variety of adverse environmental impacts. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is the only standardised method so far that provides a comprehensive assessment of the environmental burden of products. LCA results can be expressed as environmental impacts (midpoint level) or environmental damage (endpoint level). Communication on environmental impact is mostly carried out as a part of the Carbon Footprint (CF) or Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), while reporting on environmental damage is rarely used. Due to the growing interest of consumers in ‘healthy’ food, it is important that food producers address the environmental damage. Therefore, an overview of existing Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA) methods that provide insight into endpoint indicators describing damage to human health has been performed and presented in this paper. The application of the selected LCIA methods is demonstrated for the case of food products, highlighting the fact that the results obtained by different LCIA methods are not directly comparable due to a variety of methodological limitations, such as the existence of different environmental indicators and their structure. Finally, the usage of the LCA method for designing food products is presented, with the aim of enabling consumers to choose diets with lower environment and human health impacts. 3. Dynamic capabilities and environmental performance of high-tech SMEs in Pakistan – the role of eco-innovation and female executivesRameen Niamat, Fayyaz Hussain Qureshi, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Background/Purpose: This study examines the relationship between dynamic capabilities (DCs) and environmental performance (EP) in high-tech SMEs in Pakistan, focusing on the key dimensions of sensing, seizing, and reconfiguration. Additionally, it explores the mediating role of environmental innovation (EI) and the moderating effect of female leadership on this relationship. Methods: A quantitative research approach was employed, using a structured questionnaire distributed among male and female Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), senior management personnel, and executives in high-tech SMEs. Data were analysed using structural equation modelling (SEM) to assess the relationships between DCs, environmental innovation, and environmental performance. Results: The findings indicate that seizing capabilities significantly enhances environmental performance, with a one-point increase leading to a 0.282-point improvement. Similarly, reconfiguration contributes positively, with a one-point increase resulting in a 0.227-point improvement. Both process innovation (path coefficient = 0.384, p = 0.001) and product innovation (path coefficient = 0.157, p = 0.043) positively influence environmental performance. However, female leadership did not exhibit a significant direct effect on environmental performance. Notably, female moderators negatively impacted the relationship between process innovation and environmental performance (-0.328), suggesting that in lower hierarchical positions, female inclusion may reduce the effectiveness of process innovation in achieving sustainability goals. Conclusions: The study provides empirical evidence on the role of dynamic capabilities and environmental innovation in enhancing sustainability in high-tech SMEs. It highlights the need for firms to strengthen their seizing and reconfiguration capabilities to improve environmental performance. Additionally, eco-innovation should be encouraged, and gender diversity in leadership should be strategically considered when designing innovation and sustainability strategies. These findings offer valuable insights for policymakers and industry practitioners aiming to foster sustainable business practices in high-tech SMEs in Pakistan. 6. Eco-finishing of cotton with chitosan and giant goldenrod (Solidago gigantea Aiton) aqueous extract for development of antioxidant and UV protective textilesSebastijan Šmid, Anja Verbič, Lidija Fras Zemljič, Marija Gorjanc, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Giant goldenrod (S. gigantea Aiton) is considered an invasive weed in Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. In this research, the untreated and chitosan-treated cotton fabrics were functionalized with goldenrod inflorescences aqueous extract, at room temperature and 95°C. Zeta potential of fabrics was determined as a function of pH and the results showed an increased isoelectric point from 2.50 to 5.25 and amphoteric character of the chitosan-treated sample. The antioxidant activity (AA) of extract and functionalized fabrics was determined using DPPH analysis, while color and ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) were determined spectroscopically before and after wash and lightfastness testing. The chitosan pretreatment and dyeing of cotton at higher temperature increased AA (from 41.19 ± 0.28 to 56.08 ± 0.25), UPF (from 33.05 to 51.59) and color strength (K/S) (from 1.74 to 2.21), providing dyed cotton with excellent UV protection and a free radical inhibition activity. The samples had good wash fastness in terms of color (ΔEab* < 1), but not in terms of UV protection (UPF value decreased after washing to 23.47). The overall lightfastness was good to excellent (the UPF values of chitosan and dyed samples did not change much after lightfastness test (UPF = 51.75). 7. Parametrični vplivi na kakovost in zanesljivost merilnega vezja : učbenikVojko Matko, 2022, učbenik Opis: Vsebina obsega vplive posameznih parametrov na kakovost in zanesljivost merilnega vezja. Parametrični pristop daje zelo natančen kakovostni pregled nad vplivi parametrov vezja, vplivnimi količinami in tudi optimiranju merilnih vezij v smislu “ECO (Ecology) design-a”. 8. Green productBorut Jereb, Matjaž Knez, Darja Kukovič, Tina Cvahte Ojsteršek, Matevž Obrecht, 2016, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji Opis: According to Kotler (1998) the product is the first and most important element of the marketing combination. Product strategy should include consistent decisions "about the product combination, group of products, brands, packaging and labelling." (Kotler 1998: 459). After we identify green products we will especially be interested in specific strategies for developing green products and packaging and green brand positioning.
Shortly green products can be labelled as more durable, non-toxic, made from recycled materials and have less or only necessary volume of packaging (Ottman 1997: 89). Broader definition is given by Peattie (1995) who also considers the social dimension under the concept of green. He considers the product or service as green, where its effect on the natural environment and its social impact in terms of production, use or disposal, is significantly improved with respect to conventional products and services (Peattie 1995).
Green product strategy should be implemented through:
- Development of green product,
- Green brand,
- Eco-label and
- Eco-design. Ključne besede: environmental management, green products, green brand, eco-label, eco-design Objavljeno v DKUM: 10.05.2018; Ogledov: 1319; Prenosov: 102

9. Cultural landscape and tourism on historic ranches of the Pantanal wetlands of BrazilAna Paula Correia de Araújo, Ana Maria de Bicalho, 2009, pregledni znanstveni članek Opis: The rise of eco-tourism and rural tourism as new complementary activities which add value to traditional stock-raising functions on historic ranches located in the Pantanal Wetlands of Central-West Brazil is analyzed. Differently from other rural enterprises of the booming Central-West, which produce the majority of Brazilian export commodities, the specific environmental conditions of seasonal wetlands and perennial swamp of the Pantanal restrict the viable options for gaining access to global markets. Consequently, after 1990 ranchers of the Pantanal have developed tourist activities based on the spectacular natural beauty of the wetlands as well as the distinct ranching culture. The ranches have modernized with amenities to attract domestic and foreign tourists and tourism has assumed an importance source of their income. 10. Outline of implemented eco-innovation activities : the case of clusters of South Eastern European regionJana Hojnik, Mitja Ruzzier, Aleš Lipnik, 2014, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Background and Purpose: Providing a win-win situation for enterprises and the environment is raising the importance of eco-innovation. This article sheds light on the eco-innovation activities implemented within the clusters of the South Eastern European region (hereafter the SEE region). The main objective of this paper is to provide an outline of the situation pertaining to the implementation of eco-innovation activities in analyzed clusters.
Methodology: Empirical evidence is provided through the performance of survey research with a sample of 52 clusters, encompassing 11 countries of the SEE region. The basic research method used in this research was a questionnaire developed for cluster organizations, with which we gathered the data and afterwards conducted descriptive statistics.
Results: The findings demonstrate that the majority of analyzed clusters implement eco-innovation activities. The results indicate that 40 clusters out of 52 in all have set objectives with regard to eco-innovation support in their national or regional programs, followed by 35 clusters, which include objectives related to eco-innovation in their cluster strategies, and lastly, only 15 clusters are primarily focused on eco-innovation. Hence, our study depicting the current situation regarding the implementation of eco-innovation activities in analyzed clusters and clusters' orientation towards eco-innovation leads to us the discussion of why such differences in clusters occur.
Conclusion: The huge differences related to the implementation of eco-innovation activities in clusters of the SEE region, can also reflect the level of the national/regional development in terms of economic indicators such as GDP and, at the same time, offer room for a lot of improvement, and an exchange of best practice.
