Advantages and disadvantages of information-communication technology usage for four-year-old children, and the concequences of its usage for the childrens' development

Opis: Information-communication technologies (ICT) are a part of our world and we use them every day. They represent an important source of information about us and others, as well as about local and world events. Besides that, ICT can also be very attractive for pre-school children, who acquaint with them very quickly. This article presents advantages and disadvantages of ICT usage for a four-year-old pre-school child and its potential consequences for the child's development. The data was collected with the help of 130 parents. They were asked to fill out a questionnaire and share their opinions about their four-year-old children's usage of ICT at home. We found out that in the case of four-year-old children the usage of ICT has its advantages and disadvantages, and that the consequences of its usage (positive and negative) would be approximately the same.

Recent transformation of economic inequality in NUTS 3 regions in Slovenia

Opis: The restructuring of the economy and transition to a market economy have had different impacts on the economic position of regions. The level of impact that changed economic and socio-political circumstances caused in the individual regions depended on various factors: the economic structure of the regions, their ability to reroute onto foreign markets, development potentials, development strategies, and their strategic decisions. Development problems are distinctive predominantly in areas suffering from structural backwardness and economic weakness with predominantly rural orientation, areas facing demographic problems, low income per inhabitant and high unemployment rate. The peripheral nature of the underdeveloped areas caused the emptying of the countryside and concentrating of the population in urban centers. Unfavorable demographic picture, emigration of the young, poor educational structure and shortage of adequate staff, and absence of strategic decisions had led to an increasing setback of the underdeveloped regions compared to the developed ones. The results of empirical analyses of division NUTS 3 regions in Slovenia into groups, taking into account the selected development indicators, lead to the conclusion that economic development has not been conducted in the context of modern understanding of balanced regional development and in accordance with the principle of integrity of implementing regional policy in the entire state territory. The existing regional developmental differences confirm the thesis that market mechanism on its own will not reduce economic inequality and substantiate the need for efficient conduct of regional policy.

Possible consequence of student's relationship to parents and to school

Opis: This research work is dealing with the different behaviour of the young, adolescent people and their perception of the relationship with their parents and their attitude towards school in the time of their early adolescence. Research work is answering the questions connected with the relationship with the parents, attitude towards school as well as the behaviour deviation of adolescents (youth). The research is based on claim that teenager's relationship with his mother and father have an important influence on his/her behavior, especially on the conflicts with the environment. Opačič (1995) argues that the relationship between parents, the environment and the teenagers is not so important. Therefore, we were interested in teenagers' attitudes towards their relationships that they have with their parents. The following dimensions of a relationship were emphasized (observed in greater detail): control, punishment, intimacy and carelessness on the side of the parents. Through those dimensions we could show the teenager's comprehension of the relationship they have with their parents and/or mother and father's comprehension of the relationship in the early phase of adolescence. He stresses (emphasizes) their attitude (perception of) towards such relationships. Some quantity research procedures are used in this research work. There are four different non-standardized questionnaires: The frequency of the behaviour deviation, A relationship with a mother, A relationship with a father, A conflict situations with parents connected with different conversation themes, An attitude towards school. The study relies on descriptive and causal-non-experimental methods of empirical pedagogical research. The research includes an accidental sample of the pupils attending 7th and 9th class of the Primary school in Maribor in the school year 2007 (n=300).

Does undergraduate education influence teachers' perceptions of learning and teching? : the case of the Republic of Slovenia

Opis: In the first part of the paper, different models of teacher education are presented and analysed: the pre-technocratic model or the model of training master craftsmen; the technocratic model or the model of applied science; and the post-technocratic model or the reflexive model. In the second part of the paper, the results of the empirical research are presented. The aim of the empirical research was to determine the influence of undergraduate teacher education on teachers' perceptions of learning and teaching and, consequently,on teachers' actions. In Slovenia, teachers' education was carried out following two main models: the pre-technocratic model or model of training master craftsmen, which was typical for the Academy of Education, and the technocratic model or the so-called model of applied science, which is used at the education faculties nowadays. Because of this dualism in teachers'education models, there exist differences between teachers and their perception and actions as well.

Theoretical and experimental investigation of calcium-contraction coupling in airway smooth muscle

Opis: We investigated theoretically and experimentally the ▫$Ca^{2+}$▫-contraction couplingin rat tracheal smooth muscle. ▫$[Ca^{2+}]_i$▫, isometric contraction and myosin light chain (MLC) phosphorylation were measured in response to 1 mM carbachol. Theoretical modeling consisted in coupling a model of ▫$Ca^{2+}-dependent$▫ MLC kinase (MLCK) activation with a four-state model of smooth muscle contractile apparatus. Stimulation resulted in a short-time contraction obtained within 1 min, followed by a long-time contraction up to the maximal force obtained in 30 min. ML-7 and Wortmannin (MLCK inhibitors) abolished the contraction. Chelerythrine (PKC inhibitor) did not change the short-time, but reduced the long-time contraction. ▫$[Ca^{2+}]_i$▫ responses of isolated myocytes recorded during the first 90 s consisted in a fast peak, followed by a plateau phase and, in 28 % of the cells, superimposed ▫$Ca^{2+}$▫ oscillations. MLC phosphorylation was maximal at 5 s and then decreased, whereas isometric contraction followed a Hill-shaped curve. The model properlypredicts the time course of MLC phosphorylation and force of the short-time response. With oscillating ▫$Ca^{2+}$▫ signal, the predicted force does not oscillate. According to the model, the amplitude of the plateau and the frequency of oscillations encode for the amplitude of force, whereas the peak encodes for force velocity. The long-time phase of the contraction, associated with a second increase in MLC phosphorylation, may be explained, at least partially, by MLC phosphatase (MLCP) inhibition, possibly via PKC inhibition.

Damjan Vantur, 2013, diplomsko delo

Opis: V diplomskem delu obravnavamo povezljivost platforme Android z zunanjimi napravami. Natančno bomo spoznali možnosti komunikacije med posameznimi načini povezav – vmesnikov, kot so USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi in NFC, ter to podprli s primeri izvorne kode, pripravljene za izvajanje na platformi Android. Predstavili in praktično izvedli bomo komunikacijo med prototipnim vezjem Arduino in platformo Android s pomočjo vmesnika Bluetooth. V ta namen bomo implementirali preprosti protokol komunikacije na nivoju vhodnih in izhodnih tokov za prenos sporočil med napravama. Varnost parametrov – ukazov –, ki jih vezje izvede, bo kodirana z MD5. Vezje bo krmililo lestenec za spreminjanje barv svetilk. Barvo bo določil algoritem povprečne barve na mobilni napravi, napisan v jeziku C++, ki se izvaja kot native izvorna koda na platformi Android. Za zajemanje in računanje povprečne barve matrike nam bo v pomoč odprta knjižnica OpenCV.
