Multilingualism - a new aspect of teacher's professional development
Katica Pevec Semec, Saša Jazbec, 2018, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Multilingualism is an important element in the life of modern people, and a relevant topic of professional, scientific and political discussion. This paper will shed light on theoretical aspects of multilingualism: past and present concepts of multilingualism, the advocacy for and the promotion of multilingualism in the EU, as well as multilingualism in educational discourse, and teachers' professional development. The next section focuses on a project that puts multilingualism into practice in a creative manner and can thus be seen as a role model in this field of work. The paper pays special attention to the teachers who work within the framework of multilingualism, and to their new roles, distinctly different from the traditional teacher role. The concept of multilingualism as established and realized by the project covers multilingualism at the border of three countries, three languages and three educational systems and could be used as a model for other similar practices.

Influence of road transport infrastructure on agricultural sector development in Nigeria
Olusogo Ogunleye, Akinyemi Ajibola, Oluwafemi Enilolobo, Olufolakemi Shogunle, 2018, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The study investigated the effects of road transport infrastructure on agricultural sector development in Nigeria from 1985 to 2014, using secondary annual time series data on agricultural development (proxy by gross domestic product in the Agric sector) road transport infrastructure (proxy by length of paved road per square kilometer of area) export and capital, all obtained from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) [3], and National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) [16], statistical bulletins. The data were analyzed using Granger Causality test and Ordinary Least Square estimation techniques. The study concluded that a positive and statistically significant relationship exists between road transport infrastructures (LRT) also evidence was found of a unidirectional causality from agricultural sector development to transport infrastructure. The study, therefore, recommends that adequate and timely maintenance of existing roads should be carried out as well as enacting appropriate regulations that ensure proper implementation and completion of new road construction contracts in the country in order to boost agricultural sector development, reduce wastage of farm produce and increase the possibility of economic diversification.

Productivity and economic growth in the European Union
Andreja Nekrep, Sebastjan Strašek, Darja Boršič, 2018, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This paper focuses on investment in research and development as a factor of labour productivity and economic growth. Our analysis confirms the link between expenditure for research and development (expressed in % of GDP) and labour productivity (expressed in the number of hours worked) based on selected data for EU Member States in the period 1995-2013. A causal link between variables of the concave parabola was confirmed, and the value of expenditure for research and development (2.85% of EU GDP) maximising productivity (per hour of work) was determined based on the examined data. In accordance with these findings, EU’s target of reaching 3% of GDP spent on research and development to be achieved by 2020 seems in support of reaching maximum productivity in the EU.

Financial system and agricultural growth in Ukraine
Olena Oliynyk, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Background/Purpose: An effective financial system should increase the efficiency of economic activities. This study provides evidence regarding the importance of financial development for agricultural growth in Ukraine. Methodology: We used non-integrated and integral indicators, time series and regression analysis to investigate the link between the financial development and agricultural growth. Results: The results based on integral indicators shows that the financial development does not affect agricultural growth in Ukraine. The study based on non-integrated indicators, which characterizes various aspects of the financial system’s banking component and agricultural growth, provided a significant link between the financial system and agriculture growth. The regression models revealed if bank deposits to GDP (%) increases the value added per worker in agriculture increases exponentially. The results of the study indicate that, agriculture is more sensitive to lending changes than the vast majority of other sectors of the economy. The increasing lending of one UAH (Ukrainian hryvnia) resulted in retail turnover growth of 1.62 UAH, while agricultural gross output, growth was UAH 5.06. Conclusion: Our results reveal a positive relationship between financial system’s banking component and agriculture growth in Ukraine. The results indicate the necessity for continued research into further developing universal methodological approaches of appraising the nexus of the financial system’s banking component on agriculture growth in general as well separate farm groups. The results of our study has important implications on policy making authorities efforts to stimulate agricultural growth by improving the efficiency of the financial system’s banking component.

Theoretical scope of EM and sustainability
Marina Zhuravskaya, Elena Morozova, 2016, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: It is no secret that the amount of accumulated waste in Russia today is about 90 billion tons. And the situation is that distinct economic incentives for integrated waste management just do not exist (http://kn51.ru/news/society/ecology/2013/5/02/ekologiya-kak-indikator-zrelosti-obshchestva.html). Many people believe that there are only two ways of development: go back to primitive society or go forward to the inevitable destruction of the environment. However, there is an alternative that combines the preservation of the environment and social well-being – it is the concept of sustainable development.

Sustainability
Borut Jereb, Matjaž Knez, Darja Kukovič, Tina Cvahte, Matevž Obrecht, 2016, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: Sustainable development aims to optimize the balance between economic, social and environmental objectives. Sustainable thinking reflects concerns about the long-term risks posed by the current consumption of resources, taking into account the objectives of intergenerational justice. This is clearly defined in the detailed definition of sustainable development by WCED (1987): "in essence, sustainable development is not a particular state of harmony, but rather a process of change in which the exploitation of resources, direction of investments, the orientation of technological investment and institutional changes are in harmony, in order to enhance the current and future potential to meet human needs and aspirations." The starting point is given by the economic and social development that meets human needs and desires, but also takes into account the natural resource base and social justice.
