Budi Guntoro, 2010, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: This study aimed to determine the bio-physical and socio-economic characteristics of the community, to determine the problems encountered by the community with emphasis on livestock, agriculture and livelihood and to recommend appropriate plans of action in addressing these problems. Field observation and interviews with key informants were conducted. The data gathered served as basis in the preparation of a Community Develop- ment Plan for Lopati Village, Yogyakarta Province, Indonesia, which was the ultimate goal of the activity. In addition, this data provided guidelines in plan implementation as well as serving as a basis for determining the different changes or accomplishments to be made. Eight key informants were involved in the interview. The results showed that there are many problems faced by the community, including low income, lack of capital and credit sources, low prices of products and business management. Several plans of action that were made and proposed included strengthening of the existing farmers’ multipurpose cooperative, conversion of the farmers and women’s association into a cooperative, introduction and implementation of swine dispersal project, intensification of cattle, goat and duck raising, home industries, introduction of purely self-help projects, training workshops for farmers, youth and women, competitive farm gate prices for the community’s products, payment of previous loans, encouragement/reactivation of other banks to participate in a credit program, and general assembly meeting/monitoring and evaluation of projects/program.

Socio-economic and geographical factors of development
Goran Rajović, Jelisavka Bulatović, 2012, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The paper analyzes the socio-economic and geographic factors for Berane Andrijevice and Plava. The above urban settlements are located in the northeastern part of Montenegro. Isolated traffic and geographical position adversely affects the economic and social development of urban settlements. For the development of cities of greater importance are the geo-morphological and hydrological characteristics of the terrain, the climate and geology, which limits greatly compensates for modern construction techniques. Berane population increased in the period 1948-2003 to 26.81%, while in Andrijevica decreased by 42.48% and 12.43% of Plav. These data suggest to us most vividly, what are the demographic changes occurring in the region. Age groups, due to migration and decreasing birth rate changes and gets unfavorable features - reducing the proportion of younger and older increases the proportion of the population. In both cases, the disturbed age structure has a reverse effect on the movement of the population (the size of reproductive contingent), but also to all other structures of the population (the size of contingent employment, population, compulsory school contingent, contingent dependent population ratio). The main characteristic of modern urban development of cities provide processes of industrialization and urbanization. However, the economic crisis in Montenegro at the beginning of the nineties due to isolation, the economic and social strategy of circling and lack of long term economic development, stopped the social, economic, technical and technological development of urban settlement Berane, Andrijevica and Plav.

Life in Veszprém, in the "town of queens"
Tibor Lenner, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Every settlement is a unique place. This uniqueness is manifested, among others, in cultural and historical values. Truly reflecting the settlement’s history and development, the ground plan of a town safeguards these unique characteristics over the centuries. Therefore, it is practical to analyse the spatial extension within its historical relations when researching a settlement’s morphology, development and functional structure. This method has traditions dating back to Tibor Mendöl in the Hungarian settlement geography. By means of historical settlement geography, one can interpret the creation of a settlement space, the principles of spatial arrangement, and explore the expansion or regression of a settlement. In the present study, we attempted to find a correlation between the historical, functional and formal aspects of the transformation processes on the example of Veszprém, a county capital in Transdanubia. The authors’ aim of doing so was to establish a basis for a later settlement- morphological examination of the town.

Confirmation of this has to be done together by theoretical and empirical knowledge. All above mentioned assumptions have been confirmed.

A comparative analysis of life style of the local people before and after the construction of the dams in the sub zone of Mendfera
Mohammad Afsar Alam, Masihulla Khan, 2014, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Eritrea is one of the Sahelian countries in the Horn of Africa facing acute shortage of water. In areas where rainfall is low and unreliable, the construction of dams is utmost important for irrigation, domestic and livestock uses. Agriculture is the mainstay of Eritrean people; it has been playing a vital role in the process of economic development. It is estimated that about 75 per cent of the population depends on agriculture and allied activities. In such a country where agriculture is the backbone of the economy regular supply of water for irrigation is as important as the veins and arteries in the human body. In fact, dams serve multi purposes i.e. water supply for agriculture and domestic uses, flood control, hydro-power generation, navigation, fisheries and recreation activities. But in Eritrea, dams are mainly constructed to supply water for irrigation, domestic, industrial and livestock uses. This research paper is carried out to examine a comparative analysis of life style of the local people before and after the construction of the dams in the sub zone of Mendefera (Zoba Debub, Eritrea).

Rahman Nurković, 2014, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This paper explains the impact of fish farms on the development of rural areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Fishing in Bosnia and Herzegovina was recognized as an opportunity for industrial production, tourism and placing high quality healthy food on market as well as rural development and the possibility of creating new jobs. In terms of agroclimatic conditions, Bosnia and Herzegovina has a very favorable geographical, hydrological, climatic and ecological conditions for fish production, which is reflected in the availability of water resources of rivers, lakes and marine fish farms. In Bosnia and Herzegovina there are 41 registered fish farms of freshwater and saltwater fish and it is estimated that there are about twenty unregulated fish farms. With the available resources, the existance of tradition in production, decades of existance of lake fish ponds and dynamic development of production in cages classify fish farming as a significant branch of economy, which ensures it in the domestic market, but also on the markets of neighboring countries, the European Union.
