1. Clinical reasoning needs to be explicitly addressed in health professions curricula : recommendations from a European consortiumIoannis Parodis, Lina Andersson, Steven J. Durning, Inga Hege, Jure Knez, Andrzej Kononowicz, Marie Lidskog, Tadej Petreski, Magdalena Szopa, Samuel Edelbring, 2021, original scientific article Abstract: Clinical reasoning entails the application of knowledge and skills to collect and integrate information, typically with the goal of arriving at a diagnosis and management plan based on the patient’s unique circumstances and preferences. Evidence-informed, structured, and explicit teaching and assessment of clinical reasoning in educational programs of medical and other health professions remain unmet needs. We herein summarize recommendations for clinical reasoning learning objectives (LOs), as derived from a consensus approach among European and US researchers and health professions educators. A four-step consensus approach was followed: (1) identification of a convenience sample of the most relevant and applied national LO catalogues for health professions educational programs (N = 9) from European and US countries, (2) extraction of LOs related to clinical reasoning and translation into English, (3) mapping of LOs into predefined categories developed within the Erasmus+ Developing, implementing, and disseminating an adaptive clinical reasoning curriculum for healthcare students and educators (DID-ACT) consortium, and (4) synthesis of analysis findings into recommendations for how LOs related to clinical reasoning could be presented and incorporated in LO catalogues, upon consensus. Three distinct recommendations were formulated: (1) make clinical reasoning explicit, (2) emphasize interprofessional and collaboration aspects of clinical reasoning, and (3) include aspects of teaching and assessment of clinical reasoning. In addition, the consortium understood that implementation of bilingual catalogues with English as a common language might contribute to lower heterogeneity regarding amount, structure, and level of granularity of clinical reasoning LOs across countries. These recommendations will hopefully motivate and guide initiatives towards the implementation of LOs related to clinical reasoning in existing and future LO catalogues. 2. Social aspects of electric vehicles research : trends and relations to sustainable development goalsVasja Omahne, Matjaž Knez, Matevž Obrecht, 2021, review article Abstract: E-mobility sustainability assessment is becoming more comprehensive with research integrating social aspects without focusing only on technical, economic, and/or environmental perspectives. The transportation sector is indeed one of the leading and most challenging greenhouse gaspolluters, and e-mobility is seen as one of the potential solutions; however, a social perspective must be further investigated to improve the perception of and acceptance of electric vehicles. This could consequently lead to the European Green Deal's holy grail: faster decarbonization of the transportation sector. Another way to achieve it is by promoting more comprehensive sustainable development goals. Therefore, this paper combines a systematic review of recent research with research emphasis focused on social aspects of electric vehicles and their interconnection with specific UN Sustainable Development Goals. By knowing the current research focus mainly related with "perception" of electric vehicles and assessing their social "impact" as well as an emerging area of "user experience" and their relations with UN Sustainable Development Goals enables better insight on the current and future directions of electric vehicle social sustainability research. The current priority is identified as "climate actions". Increasingly important "sustainable cities and communities" shows potential forbecoming one of the future research, policy, and community priorities. 3. Promoting sustainable development while building upon components of reading literacyBarbara Bednjički Rošer, Dragica Haramija, 2024, independent scientific component part or a chapter in a monograph Abstract: The paper sheds light on the evaluation of books for pre-school children and the theory of reading children’s literature while bearing in mind the various components of reading literacy. Like reading literacy, education on sustainability is also a life-long process, and for understanding the concept of sustainability and the role of the individual in its implementation, which begins to form in the pre-school period, we chose the work by Adèle Tariel and Julie de Terssac 1000 Cows (French original: 1000 vaches), which indicates that illustrations affect the comprehension of the story and (at least partially) change or present more clearly the key morphological characteristics of the text. We conducted a case study in which we included part-time students from the third year of Early Childhood Education Studies (n = 13). An analysis of the content of responses was carried out. These demonstrate a broad semantic field of understanding literary-artistic reading and represent an example of interdisciplinary integration that can significantly contribute to the development of components of reading literacy as well as a sustainable future. 4. Sustainability of organizations : the contribution of personal values to democratic leadership behavior focused on the sustainability of organizationsZlatko Nedelko, Vojko Potočan, 2021, original scientific article Abstract: The main purpose of this study was to examine the influence of leaders’ personal values on their democratic behavior from a sustainability perspective. We specified and tested the research model, drawing upon modified versions of the theory of basic values and the autocratic–democratic leadership continuum. A total of 208 Slovenian and 196 Austrian leaders’ responses were used in hierarchical regression and structural equation modeling analysis. The results reveal a significant and positive influence of collectivistic values in both samples on democratic leadership behavior. A significant and negative effect of individualistic values on democratic leadership behavior is present in Austria, while in Slovenia, the effect is positive but not significant. Based on acknowledged associations between leader’s values, leaders’ democratic leadership behavior, and sustainable development, we argue that democratic leadership behavior contributes to the sustainable working and behavior of organizations. These results have theoretical implications, indicating how personal values affect leaders’ democratic behavior and contribute to the sustainable working and behavior of organizations. The practical implications relate to the strengthening of leaders’ democratic behavior in Slovenian and Austrian organizations. In addition, these findings will be helpful in increasing the sustainability of organizations via fostering democratic leadership behavior and its underlying personal values. 5. Economic growth and environmental sustainability determinants : a panel ARDL evidence for EU CountriesArdita Bytyqi, Hyrije Abazi-Alili, Shenaj Hadzimustafa, 2024, original scientific article Abstract: Economic growth and environmental sustainability nowadays are considered to be of particular importance, so understanding the main contributing factors is very important as well. This paper aims to examine the common determinants of economic growth and environmental sustainability, inspect the relationship between these key elements, and check their significance in economic growth and environmental sustainability. With data from EU member states for a period of ten years (2011-2020) the panel autoregressive distributed lag technique (ARDL) is used for the aim of this paper. Common determinants such as recycling and environmental taxes were found to be the major contributors to economic growth in the long run. Recycling is found to be a major contributor to environmental sustainability as well, however, environmental taxes are detected to have a negative impact on environmental sustainability in the long run, but none of these determinants have any impact in the short run. 8. Exploring the neglected voices of children in sustainable tourism development : a comparative study in six european tourist destinationsMarko Koščak, Mladen Knežević, Daniel Binder, Antonio Pelaez-Verdet, Cem Işik, Vladimir Mićić, Katarina Borisavljević, Tina Šegota, 2023, original scientific article Abstract: For years, sustainable tourism has commanded the attention of academics and practitioners given its achievement through participatory planning. However, much research in the area has neglected to consider all voices of those (i.e., children) affected by tourism. This study, employing a post-test only experimental design, addresses this gap by including the voices of 498 children from six diverse European destinations concerning perceptions of tourism. Results show that children are willing to express their opinions given the opportunity. Moreover, their attitude towards tourists is negative, while they perceive locals to hold a subordinate position to tourists. In general, this study offers insight into children's attitudes to tourism from the host perspective, demonstrating that there is a unique insider's perspective that needs further research.
