LAPPD operation using ToFPETv2 PETSYS ASICAndrej Seljak, Marko Bračko, Rok Dolenec, Peter Križan, Andrej Lozar, Rok Pestotnik, Samo Korpar, 2023, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci Opis: Single photon sensitive detectors used in high energy physics are, in some applica-tions, required to cover areas the size of several m2, and more specifically in very strong demand with an ever finer imaging and timing capability for Cherenkov Ring Imaging Detector (RICH) configurations. We are evaluating the Large Area Picosecond Photo-detector (LAPPD) produced by INCOM company, as a possible candidate for future RICH detector upgrades. In this work we perform tests on the second generation device, which is capacitively coupled to a custom designed anode back plane, consisting of various pixels and strips varying in size, that allows for connecting various readout systems such as standard laboratory equipment, as well as the TOFPET2 ASIC from PETsys company. Our aim is to evaluate what can be achieved by merging currently available technology, in order to find directions for future developments adapted for specific uses. 2. How close to reality is the „as-is” business process simulation model?Bartlomiej Gawin, Bartosz Marcinkowski, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Background and Purpose: Business process simulation (BPS) model is based on real-life data form sources like databases, observations and interviews. It acts as “as-is” business scenario can used for reengineering. The main challenge is to gather relevant data and to develop simulation model. Research aims to elaborate BPS model and to systematically assess how close to reality it is.
Design/Methodology/Approach: The research has been performed in Polish telecommunications company. Authors investigate technical process of expanding cellular network. After elaborating “as-is” model, authors use ADONIS simulation tool to run a series simulations and confront simulation results with actual historical events. After this, assessment whether computer simulation model can precisely map real-life business process - and consequently act as credible basis for process improvement - is made.
Results: The simulation model has been constructed with data from the WfMS database, observations, staff knowledge and their experience. Fully equipped simulation model is found to allow reconstructing the historical execution of business activity with low margin for error. Some limitation were identified and discussed.
Conclusion: BPS is not a popular approach for process reengineering and improvement yet. Data collection issues for BPS that require adopting process mining techniques and additional information sources are among the reasons for that. In our study, computer simulation outputs are compatible with historical events. Hence the model reflects the business reality and can be taken as a reference model while redesigning the process. 3. A wearable device and system for movement and biometric data acquisition for sports applicationsMarko Kos, Iztok Kramberger, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This paper presents a miniature wearable device and a system for detecting and recording the movement and biometric information of a user during sport activities. The wearable device is designed to be worn on a wrist and can monitor skin temperature and pulse rate. Furthermore, it can monitor arm movement and detect gestures using inertial measurement unit. The device can be used for various professional and amateur sport applications and for health monitoring. Because of its small size and minimum weight, it is especially appropriate for swing-based sports like tennis or golf, where any additional weight on the arms would most likely disturb the player and have some influence on the player’s performance. Basic signal processing is performed directly on the wearable device but for more complex signal analysis, the data can be uploaded via the Internet to a cloud service, where it can be processed by a dedicated application. The device is powered by a lightweight miniature LiPo battery and has about 6 h of autonomy at maximum performance. 4. From DCOM interfaces to domain-specific modeling language : a case study on the sequencerTomaž Kos, Tomaž Kosar, Jure Knez, Marjan Mernik, 2011, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Software development is a demanding process, since it involves different parties to perform a desired task. The same case applies to the development ofmeasurement systems - measurement system producers often provide interfaces to their products, after which the customersć programming engineers use them to build software according to the instructions and requirements of domain experts from the field of data acquisition. Until recently, the customers of the measurement system DEWESoft were building measuring applications, using prefabricated DCOM objects. However, a significant amount of interaction between customersć programming engineers and measurement system producers is necessary to use DCOM objects. Therefore, a domain-specific modeling language has been developed to enable domain experts to program or model their own measurement procedures without interacting with programming engineers. In thispaper, experiences gained during the shift from using the DEWESoft productas a programming library to domain-specific modeling language are provided together with the details of a Sequencer, a domain-specific modeling language for the construction of measurement procedures. 5. A flexible microcontroller-based data acquisition deviceDarko Hercog, Bojan Gergič, 2014, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This paper presents a low-cost microcontroller-based data acquisition device. The key component of the presented solution is a configurable microcontroller-based device with an integrated USB transceiver and a 12-bit analogue-to-digital converter (ADC). The presented embedded DAQ device contains a preloaded program (firmware) that enables easy acquisition and generation of analogue and digital signals and data transfer between the device and the application running on a PC via USB bus. This device has been developed as a USB human interface device (HID). This USB class is natively supported by most of the operating systems and therefore any installation of additional USB drivers is unnecessary. The input/output peripheral of the presented device is not static but rather flexible, and could be easily configured to customised needs without changing the firmware. When using the developed configuration utility, a majority of chip pins can be configured as analogue input, digital input/output, PWM output or one of the SPI lines. In addition, LabVIEW drivers have been developed for this device. When using the developed drivers, data acquisition and signal processing algorithms as well as graphical user interface (GUI), can easily be developed using a well-known, industry proven, block oriented LabVIEW programming environment. 6. Izboljševanje razpoložljivosti energetskega sistemaMatej Kociper, 2016, diplomsko delo/naloga Opis: V nalogi smo obravnavali energetski sistem hladnih sob in ga z namenom izboljševanja energetske učinkovitosti analizirali z vidika zanesljivosti in razpoložljivosti. Na podlagi teoretičnih temeljev in podatkov o zastojih naprav, zbranih iz obratovanja, smo z uporabo induktivne metode z upoštevanjem popravil na osnovi markovskih modelov ocenili izbrane karakteristike zanesljivosti in razpoložljivosti obstoječega sistema. Z namenom izboljševanja teh karakteristik smo podali konkretne predloge za predelavo strojnih inštalacij in nadgradnjo sistema obstoječe regulacije naprav z implementacijo informacijske rešitve v obliki daljinskega nadzorno-krmilnega sistema SCADA. Na podlagi ponovljene analize smo ocenili izboljšanje povprečnega časa do odpovedi in razpoložljivosti prenovljenega sistema. Na kratko smo opredelili še pogoje za uvedbo predelave, potencialne možnosti nadaljnjega razvoja in razširitve predstavljene metodologije na ostale (ne)energetske sisteme. 7. Bluetooth platform for wireless measurements using industrial sensorsTadej Tašner, Kristian Les, Darko Lovrec, 2013, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The past decade has seen significant advancement in the field of mobile devices. Various smart devices such as cellular phones, tablets and PDAs have become universal tools in our everyday lives. Their versatility is based on their computing power, portability and their integration with other devices and services such as the World Wide Web. However, these smart devices have an even wider usability spectrum. They can also be used for wireless industrial measurements using existing sensors. The wireless connectivity of existing industrial sensors is achieved by equipping them with a Bluetooth module, which digitizes the data and passes it to any Bluetooth capable smart device for further processing, evaluation and logging. This paper describes the specially designed Bluetooth platform for wireless measurements all the way from the basic concept, through hardware, firmware and software implementation, to the sample tests and measurements. 8.
