More results on the domination number of Cartesian product of two directed cycles
Ansheng Ye, Fang Miao, Zehui Shao, Jia-Bao Liu, Janez Žerovnik, Polona Repolusk, 2019, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Let γ(D) denote the domination number of a digraph D and let C$_m$□C$_n$ denote the Cartesian product of C$_m$ and C$_n$, the directed cycles of length n ≥ m ≥ 3. Liu et al. obtained the exact values of γ(C$_m$□C$_n$) for m up to 6 [Domination number of Cartesian products of directed cycles, Inform. Process. Lett. 111 (2010) 36–39]. Shao et al. determined the exact values of γ(C$_m$□C$_n$) for m = 6, 7 [On the domination number of Cartesian product of two directed cycles, Journal of Applied Mathematics, Volume 2013, Article ID 619695]. Mollard obtained the exact values of γ(C$_m$□C$_n$) for m = 3k + 2 [M. Mollard, On domination of Cartesian product of directed cycles: Results for certain equivalence classes of lengths, Discuss. Math. Graph Theory 33(2) (2013) 387–394.]. In this paper, we extend the current known results on C$_m$□C$_n$ with m up to 21. Moreover, the exact values of γ(C$_n$□C$_n$) with n up to 31 are determined.

Sustainable Development In Transport and Logistics
Vasja Omahne, 2021, magistrsko delo/naloga

Opis: The support for an ongoing global pursuit of sustainable development, consumer awareness about sustainability, and regulations have affected the transport and logistics sector due to the fact that it presents ample environmental, social and economic challenges. The transport sector contributes globally to about 14% of greenhouse gas emissions, and around one third of the European Union's emissions, yet also represents an important economic sector, employing around 10 million individuals, thus requiring an in-depth discussion, especially regarding environmental impact. Due to increasing global concern for the environment, companies and policymakers are facing pressure to reduce the environmental impact related to transport and logistics activities and make them more sustainable. Before choosing a best practice for improvement, especially regarding the environmental perspective, a thorough analysis regarding the environmental impact has to be carried out based on reliable data and methodology. For such purposes, the life cycle assessment (LCA) defined by standards ISO 14040 and 14044 is commonly used. While the LCA focuses only on the environmental perspective, sustainability is represented by three dimensions, which are environmental, economic and social and those are interlinked, which presents a challenge, as each dimension has a major impact on every stage of the life cycle of a product, process or service. Thus there is a need to evaluate all three perspectives of sustainability in order to make transport and logistics processes more sustainable. Another option to make transport and logistics processes more sustainable and to achieve sustainable development is through education. Thus, it is important to integrate sustainability-oriented topics in logistics programs and courses, and consequently educate future logisticians about sustainability. Considering environmental burdens and sustainable development in transport and logistics, we explored LCA regarding its use in transport and logistics and studied the integration of sustainability into logistics education in EU, as it is important to educate future logistics managers and decision makers to gain sufficient knowledge on the importance of sustainability. Also, as logistics processes pose several environmental challenges and impacts, social and economic impacts are the ones that are frequently overlooked. Thus we additionally focused on performing an applicable comprehensive sustainability evaluation of a monkey toy and evaluated its environmental (through LCA), social (through SLCA) and economic (through LCC) impacts through the life cycle. At the same time, we explored options to enhance the present CE concept in the monkey toy company. Exploring the use of LCA in transport and logistics, we focused on the state-of-the-art of transport-related life cycle assessment studies, as they are important for the decision-making processes. Our research of LCA & transport studies was framed around the requirements of the International Organization for Standardization. A specific focus was given to the quality of life cycle assessment phases, comprehending goal and scope, inventory, life cycle impact assessment, and interpretation. Thirty-four research and review papers were studied, sourced from the Web of Science database. Studying the monkey toy, we firstly assessed the environmental impacts of the toy through LCA and additionally combined it with SLCA and LCC to evaluate the toy's sustainability comprehensively. Based on the results of the sustainability evaluation, we gained an insight into environmental, economic and social hotspots that the monkey represents. We then presented a possible enhancement of the CE concept. Lastly, focusing on logistics education, we analyzed and elaborated upon an integration of sustainability topics at higher education programs in logistics and their curricula for bachelor and master degrees at universities across Europe.

Impact of terms-of-trade on Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Croatia in the short run
Karol Szomolányi, Martin Lukáčik, Adriana Lukáčiková, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The terms-of-trade shocks are not main source of business cycles in three post-communist countries (i.e., Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Croatia). The zero or negative reactions of the trade balance in terms-of-trade positive shocks in the countries exhibit the Obstfeld-Svensson-Razin effect, according to which the Harberger-Laursen-Metzler positive effect on terms-of-trade indicates that the smaller the trade balance, the more persistent the terms-of-trade shock is. The conclusions come from the structural vector autoregressive analysis of the cyclical components of terms-of-trade, trade balance, output, consumption, and investment in three post-communist countries.

Limit cycle bifurcated from a center in a three dimensional system
Bo Sang, Brigita Ferčec, Qin-Long Wang, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Based on the pseudo-division algorithm, we introduce a method for computing focal values of a class of 3-dimensional autonomous systems. Using the $Є^1$-order focal values computation, we determine the number of limit cycles bifurcating from each component of the center variety (obtained by Mahdi et al). It is shown that at most four limit cycles can be bifurcated from the center with identical quadratic perturbations and that the bound is sharp.

Damage and failure modeling of lotus-type porous material subjected to low-cycle fatigue
Janez Kramberger, Klemen Sterkuš, Srečko Glodež, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The investigation of low-cycle fatigue behaviour of lotus-type porous material is presented in this paper. Porous materials exhibit some unique features which are useful for a number of various applications. This paper evaluates a numerical approach for determining of damage initiation and evolution of lotus-type porous material with computational simulations, where the considered computational models have different pore topology patterns. The low-cycle fatigue analysis was performed by using a damage evolution law. The damage state was calculated and updated based on the inelastic hysteresis energy for stabilized cycle. Degradation of the elastic stiffness was modelled using scalar damage variable. In order to examine crack propagation path finite elements with severe damage were deleted and removed from the mesh during simulation. The direct cyclic analysis capability in Abaqus/Standard was used for low-cycle fatigue analysis to obtain the stabilized response of a model subjected to the periodic loading. The computational results show a qualitative understanding of pores topology influence on low-cycle fatigue under transversal loading conditions in relation to pore orientation.

Computational simulation of biaxial fatigue behaviour of lotus-type porous material
Janez Kramberger, Marko Šori, Matjaž Šraml, Srečko Glodež, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: A computational simulation of low-cycle fatigue behaviour of lotus-type porous material, subjected to biaxial in-phase loading cycles is presented in this paper. Fatigue properties of porous materials are less frequently published in the literature. This paper evaluates computational analyses, where different pore distribution and biaxial loading conditions in relation to the pore orientations is considered in each simulation. The fatigue analysis is performed by using a damage initiation and evolution law based on the inelastic strain energy. The computational results are subjected to the appropriate statistical analysis, because of different pore topology a different fatigue lives are obtained on the same loading level. Results of computational simulations show also a qualitative understanding of porosity influence on low-cycle fatigue failures of lotus-type porous material under biaxial loading conditions.

Experimental determination of fatigue parameters of high chromium steel under different loading and temperature conditions
Matej Drobne, Nenad Gubeljak, Srečko Glodež, 2014, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Fatigue investigation of high chromium steel (HCS) at different loading ratios (R = 0, R = -1) and different temperatures (20 °C, 600 °C) is presented in this paper. Before fatigue testing, monotonic mechanical properties (ultimate compressive and ultimate tensile strength) are determined at different temperatures, using standardized testing procedures according to DIN 50125 standard. Moreover Charpy impact tests at different temperatures were done with specimens that comply with the standard ISO 14556. Fatigue testing is performed on a servo - hydraulic testing machine with consideration of different loading conditions as described above. On the basis of the experimental results the S - N curves are constructed from which typical fatigue parameters (the fatigue strength coefficient 0'f and the fatigue strength exponent b) are determined. After fatigue testing a comprehensive investigation of fracture surfaces is performed using the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Experimental results presented in this paper will serve as a basis for further investigations related to fatigue behaviour of real working rolls in hot strip mills made of HCS.
