PRESKUS PRIMERNOSTI NFC V SISTEMU ZA REGISTRACIJO ČASA

Opis: V nalogi smo preučili primernost tehnologije NFC (Near Field Communication) na primeru razvoja sistema za registracijo dela. Opisali smo glavne tehnološke značilnosti te tehnologije. Podana je primerjava z ostalimi brezžicnimi tehnologijami kot so Bluetooth, WiFi in 3G. V nalogi je razvita aplikacija MobileTime, ki uporablja NFC za registracijo dogodkov. Razvit je strežniški in odjemalski modul rešitve. Preskus je pokazal, da tehnologija ustreza poslovnim zahtevam, omejitev pa je majhno število mobilnih odjemalcev z vgrajenim vezjem NFC.

ANALIZA STORITEV ZA POENOTENJE KOMUNIKACIJ V PODJETJU

Opis: V diplomskem delu analiziramo storitve poenotenih komunikacij v konkretnem podjetju. Predstavljene so obstoječe rešitve na trgu ter ponudniki storitev, ki so razvrščeni v naslednje skupine: vodilni, izzivalci, nišni igralci, vizionarji in brezplačni programi. Opisana je struktura informacijskih tehnologij in preizkus prototipa. Preizkus je pokazal, da storitve poenotenih komunikacij preprečujejo izgubo podatkov in prinašajo spremembe v načinu organiziranja ter vodenja sestankov. Poleg tega nudijo hitrejši prenos znanja, pretok informacij, kot tudi skrajšanje odzivnega časa.

DEVELOPMENT OF INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCE IN CONTEMPORARY FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLASSROOM BY INCORPORATING INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

Opis: The idea for the diploma thesis arouse from the fact that technology and the Internet are still not widely used in the English classroom. When thinking about how to integrate technology in the classroom I was inspired by different web sites which offer a vast variety of authentic as well as ELT-specific materials that can be used in the English classroom. I decided to focus on developing intercultural competence with information and communication technology by extending the intercultural topics covered in the coursebooks for students at secondary level. In the theoretical part of my thesis I present the notion of intercultural competence as defined by different authors. A special emphasis is given to developing of intercultural competence in the English classroom, including planning lessons to develop intercultural competence. In the third chapter the information and communication technology (ICT) and the English classroom is covered. Some possibilities of using ICT in the English classroom in terms of Web 2.0 are presented, which is the basis for the empirical part. In the empirical part of my thesis the activities to extend the intercultural topics covered in coursebooks are planned and presented. Since all activities are planned to be done online, they are available also on the Internet.

ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT FOR A HUMANOID ROBOT MOTOR DRIVER USING CAN BUS

Opis: In this thesis, the design of the motor driver electronic board is presented. The motor driver is designed on a Control Area Network bus based communication network. The motor driver is aimed to be used in a humanoid robot as controlling the joint actuators. The designed motor controllers in this project have the capability to be used in a network by multi clients in order to provide different joints control on a common bus. The performance evaluation test of system is made by commanding different desired positions to the controller. The desired positions are approached by the controller by different velocities. The controller is designed in order to provide controllability for the system even in the case of load unstability of the joint. Since the motor controller is aimed to be used for a humanoid robot, the load reflected unstability causes the variation of the overall pose of the robot. Finally, the results are compared and discussed for the evaluation of the designed motor controller.

The sustainable university as a system: The case of the University of Maribor

Opis: This paper deals with the university as an institution that responds to global problems, using creative, real-world problem solving, based on "learningby doing". Sustainability-oriented problem solving at the university require new approaches, based on interconnection and collaboration within a system (university) and with other systems (municipality, enterprises). The University of Maribor has been used as a case study to explore management changes and curricula improvements, based on the principles of communitarianism and improved ways of communication within the university.

Advanced modelling and simulation methods for communication networks

Opis: This paper contains a brief overview of suitable simulation tools available for education and research on network technologies and protocols. Among the mentioned tools we present advanced methods for network simulations using the OPNET modeler simulation tool. This is one of the most widespread simulation tools for network simulations, appropriate for both for teaching and also for the researching procedures of new internet devices and protocols. The basic package is intended for simulating communication networks and for protocols and devices development. There are also additional specific modules, such as a module assigned to the simulation of wireless networks, an ACE module for application analyzing, 3DNV module for visualizing networks on virtual terrain and the "System in the loop" module for simulating networks with real communication equipment in the loop, in real-time.

Holistic strategy of public action and visual digitalization in convergent environment

Opis: Basic operative terms of visual phenomenology are analyzed to develop a holistic strategy for public action within the new culture of communicating inthe global context. New arenas of visual communication are observed as a sociocultural process of adjusting visual technology. Creating a new strategy for public action will enhance daily life and understanding between all citizens, about questions concerning human development and society in general.A theoretical discussion is conducted through diachronic and synchronic analysis of visual communication content. The main goal is to establish a new communicative paradigm for a holistic strategy of public action. Observing visual digitalization, the authors develop a holistic strategy for public action, not only in the technical sense of the transmission and adjustment of analog signal into digital signal. The future of visual communication is a powerful source for creating images, the transmission of pictures via images, and the description or manipulation of reputation, dominance, subjection, and media exhaustion within the convergent environment. The authors identify technical and sociocultural questions regarding visual communication from the perspective of the usage of new information and communication technologies (ICT). The holistic public action strategy seeks to preserve cultural identity within the context of global communication.

Factors that impact internet use and are sensitive to income : cross-country empirical evidence

Opis: This paper examines information and communication technology (ICT) and socioeconomic indicators associated with Internet use based on income level across countries. Although some literature deals with cross-country indicatorsof Internet use, no known study quantitatively examines which indicators are superior or how they differ across countries with different income level. We extract factors with the most important indicators and evaluate their impact on Internet use for four income groups: low, lower middle, upper middle, and high. The results show that Internet use can be stimulated by educated people, available computers, telecommunications connections and increasing income per capita. However, prices of telecommunications services, international trade, investment, population density, unemployment rate or GDP growth rate do not affect Internet use.
