1. Suckling behaviour of piglets affected by body weight and sexMartina Dobaj Gomboc, Janko Skok, Dejan Škorjanc, Maja Prevolnik Povše, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Piglet suckling behaviour has been extensively studied, but surprisingly, there are not many studies that specifically consider body weight and sex in this context. These two basic individual characteristics have been considered more as supporting data but not as main factors. Therefore, the objective of the present research was to examine the effect body weight on suckling behaviour of piglets during lactation separately by sex. The study comprised 14 litters with a total of 158 piglets (85 male, 73 female, litter size 6−15 piglets). Suckling behaviour was described in terms of suckling position (the teat at which the piglet suckled during suckling), suckling territory (the range two outermost suckling positions of the piglet encompasses) and suckling
stability (the tendency to suckle successively at the same position), and was observed in six periods: 0−3, 4−7, 8−10, 11−14, 15−21 and 22−32 days of age. In each period, piglets were also weighed. The udder was divided into three areas: anterior (1st-2nd teat pair), middle (3rd-5th teat pair) and posterior (6th-8th teat pair). Body weight affected suckling behaviour differently in male and female piglets (i.e., all traits in females, suckling stability only in males). The relative body weight of females decreased significantly from the anterior towards the posterior part. Heavy females (but not males) suckled considerably more frequently on the anterior area. Heavier piglets (male and female) established more stable suckling order. Suckling territory of males was quite large, but did not differ among body weight classes. Interestingly, light females visited significantly larger suckling territory than heavy females. The present results fill a gap in the otherwise broad knowledge of pig suckling behaviour, which is of great importance for litter management during lactation, especially when cross-fostering is implemented. In this context, knowledge of the detailed role of sex and body weight is of particular importance because breeders rely mainly on basic body traits when managing litters. 3. The effect of the difference in female body shapes on clothing fittingTadeja Penko, Andreja Rudolf, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of body shapes of the studied group of women using different body shape classification methods. The objective was to investigate the fit of clothing for the average body shapes identified. Forty female participants from Slovenia, aged 20–30, were included in the analysis. Body shapes were classified using three methods: Visual assessment of body shape (VABS), female figure identification technique (FFIT), and body shape classification method (BSCM). For each classification method, ANOVA tests were performed to determine whether there were statistically significant differences in body measurements across the identified body shapes. A comparison of body shapes was carried out and also visualised by simulating 3D body shapes. The fit of clothing to body shapes was analysed with the help of virtual 3D prototyping. Four characteristic body shapes have been identified, namely triangle (pear, spoon), hourglass, rectangle and inverted triangle. The VABS method differs slightly from the other two (FFIT, BSCM), which give very similar results. When applying the FFIT and BSCM, the triangle body shape is the most representative, followed by the hourglass shape, the rectangle and the inverted triangle shape. Simulating the fit of the basic dress pattern design on 3D body shapes using the best match of dress size shows that the dress fits the hourglass shape best, while the fit for the other three shapes is inadequate. The latter indicates the need to make most of the garments for the triangle body shape and a corresponding number of garments for the hourglass and rectangle body shapes to ensure the correct fit of the garments. 4. Are health literacy and physical literacy independent concepts? A gender-stratified analysis in medical school students from CroatiaMarijana Geets Kesic, Mia Perić, Barbara Gilić, Marko Manojlovic, Patrik Drid, Toni Modric, Željka Znidaric, Nataša Zenić, Aleksander Pajtler, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Health literacy (HL) and physical literacy (PL) are concepts responsible for achieving and
maintaining positive health behaviors. This study aimed to investigate gender-specific associations:
(i) between PL and HL; and (ii) among HL, PL, and body composition. We observed 253 students
attending health-area high schools from southern Croatia (181 girls; 16.9 ± 1.4 years). HL was
assessed by the European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire, PL by the PLAYself questionnaire,
and body composition by bioimpedance analysis. The t-test was used to assess the differences
between genders, and Pearson’s correlation coefficients were calculated to establish the associations
between variables. The results showed a similar level of HL (t-test = 0.2; p = 0.83) and PL (t-test = 0.01;
p = 0.99) in boys and girls. Significant but small correlations were identified between HL and PL only
in the girls (<10% of common variance). The body composition indices were significantly correlated
with PL only in the boys (15–20% of common variance). Our research highlights the necessity of the
independent evaluation of HL and PL in adolescence. Further studies evaluating other indices of
health status in relation to PL and HL are warranted. Ključne besede: health behavior, knowledge translation, public health, community-engaged research, youth, body build Objavljeno v DKUM: 12.03.2025; Ogledov: 0; Prenosov: 4

5. Using digital technology for the sustainable preservation of clothing heritage: a virtual reconstruction of the 1848/49 uniformAndreja Rudolf, Barbara Pučko, Maja Hren Brvar, Katarina Remic, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This work deals with the sustainable reconstruction of the uniform of the National Guard
of Maribor from 1848/49 with the aim of developing the pattern design of the jacket and trousers of
which it consists of and making a virtual replica of it. The original uniform of the Maribor National
Guard, which can no longer be restored and/or conserved, is kept in the Maribor Regional Museum,
Slovenia. The reconstruction of the pattern design of the jacket and trousers was based on historical
sources, analyses, measurements and the decomposition of the uniform. The virtual reconstruction
of the uniform pattern design was carried out using the Optitex PDS 3D V11 programme. The
construction proportions of the uniform’s basic pattern design were analysed to determine the basic
body dimensions of the wearer of the jacket and trousers and to create 3D body models of the wearers
using the standard 3D body model of the software used. This made it possible to create an accurate
“3D body model–clothing” system that realistically represents the virtual replica of the uniform. The
results of this research help to preserve, understand and explore the cultural heritage of clothing in a
sustainable way and make it accessible to the public.

6. Sarcopenia, obesity, and their association with selected behavioral factors in active older adultsKaja Teraž, Miloš Kalc, Manca Peskar, Saša Pišot, Boštjan Šimunič, Rado Pišot, Primož Pori, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Introduction: The number of obese people in the world is increasing, as is the number of sarcopenic people among the older adults. Although both states are concerning, they can be positively influenced by selected behavioral factors such as adequate nutrition and physical activity. We were interested in the prevalence of sarcopenic obesity in active older people and the influence of behavioral factors on this phenomenon.
Methods: The study included 38 older adults (21 women) with a mean age of 75.3 ± 5.0 years. Sarcopenic parameters were determined with different tests: Handgrip Test, Chair Stand Test, Gait Speed, Timed Up and Go Test, and Short Physical Performance Battery. Body composition was measured by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry. Physical activity level was measured using accelerometers, and nutritional status was assessed using the Mini-Nutritional Assessment and MEDLIFE Index questionnaire.
Results: Of all included active participants (the average number of steps per day was 8,916 ± 3,543), 47.4% of them were obese. Of all included women, 52.4% were obese. Sarcopenic obesity was found in three (7.9%) participants. Nutritional status correlated with strength of lower extremities and physical performance tests (gait speed, Timed Up and Go Test and Short Physical performance battery). Higher number of steps per day positively correlates with physical performance.
Discussion: Interestingly, we did not find any correlation between the main obesity parameter such as percent body fat or body mass index (and thus sarcopenic obesity) and any of the selected behavioral factors (physical activity, sedentary behavior, or dietary habits). In conclusion, reaching the recommended levels of physical activity in older adults may not be sufficient to prevent the occurrence of obesity and sarcopenic obesity. 10. Pevkam so bile preko učenja, spoznavanja in izvajanja raznolike zborovske literature približane značilnosti glasbe posameznih obdobij. Pri petju telo postane inštrument. K boljšemu pomnjenju pripomore sproščenost telesa in mišic.
