The importance of perception and consciousness for E-learning
Vanda Rebolj, 2010, strokovni članek

Opis: The article presents the results of a research on perception during the learning process of adults in a virtual environment. The aim of the research was to determine why the process of e-learning introduction in Slovenia has been slowed down. Perception and its effects upon learning are important on the conscious as well as on the unconscious level but they have not been given as much attention as in the classical learning environment. Disturbed perception which results from the lack of expertise in preparation of the e-environment is a serious obstacle for learning. The objective of the research was to find solutions for the actual teaching practice but at the same time the research emphasizes that conclusions cannot always be made on the basis of former facts about students. We have to bear in mind that the impact of technology changes the students as well. Lack of professional arguments and of good practice leads to pedagogical conservatism which can cause the school's progress, also in the area of adult education, to be directed in the opposite direction from the one required by business processes in the organizations in which the adult students come from or in which the students are employed after they finish their education.

The organisational and personnel aspects of introducing ICT into grammar schools
Srečo Zakrajšek, 2009, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This article presents the results of comparisons between investment into ICT and the current state of equipment in Slovenian high schools compared to similar schools in the EU member states. Extensive research is based on surveying and interviews with the headmasters of 10 Slovenian high schools, jointly representing a typical sample of schools, as well as the different aspects of using ICT in their schools. The research results have shown that Slovenian high schools are substantially worse equipped with ICT than similar schools in the developed countries of the EU. This is evident in the lack of modern forms of organization, operation and education based on ICT. Slovenian high schools can only modernize their organization and operations if the Slovenian government starts investing substantially more into purchasing equipment, teacher training and the promotion of the knowledge, skills and competences that can only be developed using ICT.

Trends in ICT and multimedia supported education
Marko Papić, Janez Bešter, 2012, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: The formal educational system is facing different problems regarding adaptation towards the needs of a modern knowledge society. In the article, two important and comprehensive challenges to today's formal educational system are discussed and commented upon. The first problem is the incoherence between the needs of the labor market and formal education system outcomes in terms of graduated students. Another problem is the distancing between the prevailing traditional pedagogical methods within formal educational institutions and the ways in which students acquire information and knowledge outside of the schools as they are becoming less and less interested in traditional lectures. It is argued that specific information and communication system technologies (ICT) supported mechanisms, such as social learning and virtual communities may address these challenges. Theories of communities and social learning that may be useful for implementation in the education system are explained and practical implementation is proposed.

Is education for using humour in nursing needed?
Jana Goriup, Jadranka Stričević, Vida Sruk, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Introduction: Although there has been considerable discussion regarding the presence of therapeutic aspects of humour in the nurse educational programme and syllabus, little is known about the use of humour in the nurse - patient relationship and the needed topics in the Slovene educational system for nurses. From educational and medical perspectives, humour is anything that evokes laughter and it has been proven that laughter contributes to physical health. A sense of humour in nursing has a conformist, quantitative and productive importance which is manifested through the essential elements of humour: meta-communication sensitivity, personal affection for humour and emotional admissibility. As nurses spend a lot of time with patients, humour adds to the quality of their work as well as to the nurses’ satisfaction with their work with patients. The aim of this paper is to contribute to a better understanding of the significance of humour in nursing both for the employees and for the patients and to discuss humour within the framework of nursing profession in Slovenia. The specific objective of our study is to explore the attitudes of Slovenian nurses towards humour and their actual use of humour during their interaction with patients. Methods: For the purpose of this study, a quantitative research methodology was adopted. A questionnaire was used to collect data on the topic and a set of statistical analyses (frequency distribution method, the χ2 and Spearman rank correlation test) was performed on the data obtained. Results: Our study shows that Slovenian nurses are prone to the use of humour in their work and they welcome it as an integral part of their work with patients. We found that humour also enhances their sense of belonging to the nursing profession and serves as a tool for socialization. Discussion: Humour, employed in nursing can help overcome certain difficulties which nurses face in the workplace as they also try to fulfil some social objectives and get socialized via humour. These psychological-sociological features of humour stand out as cognitive and social benefits of the positive emotions of joy, the use of humour for social communication and their influence on the release of stress and coping, which draws from the ergonomics of humour as social interaction. Therefore, topics of humour in nurse education are required. Limitations: 279 Slovenian nurses with different levels of education participated in the study. Conclusions: Humour should be used by nurses since it is important in their professional interaction with patients. It can be used as a bridge between individuals and can serve as a means of individual's integration into groups, cultures and, consequently, into the society as a whole.

Gender gap in Slovakia
Katarína Danielová, Viliam Lauko, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The article focuses on the gap between women education and their career. Women’s education has significantly increased in a few last years, but their position on the labour market has been more difficult in comparison with men. The share of economical active women and also the share of working women with higher education have been growing till the present time. However, it is questionable how do women use their higher education in career or whether they can build even some career. We have used the data from Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic and some problems have been presented in the area of Slovakia on the level of regions (kraje).

Teachers' views of the potential of art therapy in young learners
Ivana Marijanović, Dubravka Kuščević, Ina Reić-Ercegovac, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The aim of the study conducted on 205 class teachers was to explore the extent to which they care about their pupil's artistic expression, how much they know about art therapy and it's potential for young learners, especially when working with abused children and children with developmental disabilities, and their willingness to seek additional knowledge about art therapy. The research results showed no significant difference in art therapy knowledge and its implementation when working with young children according to teachers' age, work experience or education. Still, the assessment of their own knowledge about art therapy and its potential did differ according to age and level of education.

Book of abstracts of the 2nd International Scientific Conference Teaching Methods for Economics and Business Sciences, 7. May 2018, Maribor, Slovenia
2018, druge monografije in druga zaključena dela

Opis: Today’s global business environment is faced with complex and multidisciplinary issues. As business schools educate new generations of business people who will need to deal with these issues, the teachers at these institutions need to constantly innovate their teaching methods and approaches in order to pass relevant knowledge about business practices, processes and environments to their students. New, innovative approaches to teaching economics- and business-related subjects are thus essential to spark our students' curiosity and innovativeness and to develop their professional competences and skills so that our graduates, once employed, will have a positive impact on the economy as well as on the society. This book presents the abstracts of the 2nd International Scientific Conference »Teaching Methods for Economics and Business Sciences« held on 7 May 2018 at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Economics and Business. I would like to express my thanks to all authors who submitted their work for this conference in our common response to the above challenges.

The transition of young people from study to employment in the light of student work
Vesna Novak, Anja Žnidaršič, 2018, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Background and Purpose: We are living in a time of accelerated globalization, which has a far-reaching impact for youth employment. Therefore, the paper presents the problem of the transition of tertiary educated young people into the working environment in terms of the importance of education and gaining work experience during their studies. The main purpose of the study was to analyze the attitudes and thinking of students regarding the selection of studies and work experience that young people are gaining during their studies with student work in connection with their job prospects. Design/Methodology/Approach: The data used in our research come from a broader research on Slovenian Youths (SY) dating back to 2013. Among all the respondents of SY we selected those who classified themselves as students aged between 19 and 24, who filled out the part of the questionnaire pertaining to employment. The research hypotheses were tested with the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and independent samples t-test. Results: We found that among students who chose to study for different reasons there were differences in the belief that they will immediately find employment after graduating. We also found that between those students who supported themselves during their studies and those who only studied there were differences in individual statements regarding their transition from education to employment. We concluded that work during their studies, especially in the field of the profession they were studying for, had a positive impact on the thinking of students pertaining to the transition toward employment. Conclusion: The analysis of employment issues faced by young people with tertiary education was supported by empirical data, while in conclusion suggestions for improvement were presented. The article also deepens the understanding of the problems of youth employment in a broader perspective and the understanding of the observed developments in society.

Preparing students for mobility in vocational education and training
Tina Rajhman, 2019, magistrsko delo

Opis: The following master’s thesis focuses on preparing students on mobility in vocational education and training. The focus lies on English for specific purposes which is an integral part of English in technical secondary and vocational technical education. The thesis also concentrates on exchange programmes and their effects on students’ L2 and communicative competences. The above-mentioned educational programmes have to focus on both general English as well as English for specific purposes because the students need the knowledge at school, during the vocational training and later at work. The EU helps promoting language diversity by financing various international mobility programmes. The following MA thesis focuses on Erasmus+ which supports education and training at all levels and helps the schools send vocational education and training learners abroad. As proven by various studies, mobility has a beneficial effect on students’ English and communication skills. The case study included seven students attending upper-secondary programmes at the school centre Škofja Loka. The purpose of the study was to analyse the influence of the students’ vocational training abroad on their foreign language competences and to see whether students’ communicative competences improved during the vocational training abroad. The results were used to prepare helpful language exercises for future Erasmus+ students. According to students’ answers, a four-week exchange period is long enough for both weaker as well as more advanced students to make progress in English. All of them also confirmed that the most used language skills during the mobility were speaking and listening. For that reason, the practical part of the MA thesis presents four examples of exercises focusing on woodworking vocabulary, listening and speaking.
