The impact of corruption and organized crime on the development of sustainable tourism
Janez Mekinc, Tina Kociper, Bojan Dobovšek, 2013, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Purpose: This study focuses on the phenomenon of organized criminality and corruption. Its purpose is to analyse and explain how organized crime and corruption impact the processes of environmentally sustainable development and, indirectly, the development of tourist destinations and activities. Design/Methods/Approach: We analyzed relationships between tourist destinations, sustainable tourism, organized crime, and corruption from secondary data. We further synthesize findings and supplement them with observations and previous research findings. Findings: Organized crime and corruption have a direct impact on the sustainable development of tourist destinations and also on the services and activities of sustainable tourism. Based on a comparison of several indexes, the sustainable development of tourist destinations is greatly (negatively) affected by ecocriminality which holds back the development of sustainable tourism. It can be concluded that countries with less corruption have a better developmental sustainability, which is the building block of sustainable tourism. Originality/Value: Developing theoretical explanations and systematic studies are necessary as a first order of business if countries wish to prosecute organized crime and corruption relating to tourism. This is the first study in Slovenia dealing with this problem, thereby opening many questions for future research.

Hydroelectric powerplant Kablić - Impact on the environment and spatial development
Ljubomir Mioč, 2017, magistrsko delo

Opis: Hydro energy is simply energy that is taken from water and converted into electricity. The most common method of producing energy from water is taking place in hydropower plants. These facilities represent industrial architecture where water coming down through an area causes turbines to rotate and the energy is captured to run a generator. When creating a hydropower plant for producing hydropower, in some cases, areas must be flooded, which largely affects spatial development during the planning process. In the 21st century, people are becoming increasingly interested in obtaining electricity through hydro potential, especially since water is a clean and renewable source of energy that does not emit toxins and does not pollute the environment. Due to this fact, hydroelectric plants are becoming places of education and receive more visitors, which is developing a new branch of sustainable tourism.

Heritage trails through Dolenjska and Bela Krajina in Slovenia
Marko Koščak, 2016, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: One of the crucial methodologies for growing and developing a level of tourism which is sustainable and enhances the totality of local and regional environments is a multi-stakeholder approach to tourism development. In this paper, we present the case of the 'Heritage trails through Dolenjska and Bela krajina in SE Slovenia' in which sustainable rural development (we take this to include cultural & heritage, vinicultural & gastronomic, as well as ecological tourism) is one of the key elements of the integral mix of business economy, viz. development of the region in the SE of Slovenia. The integral approach showed from the very beginning of project activities, within the Novo Mesto chamber of commerce, its long-time implementation until the present, as one of the key products within the tourist destination of Dolenjska, Bela Krajina and Kočevsko-Ribniška. It takes an integrated approach in terms of start-up, implementation and development and is supported by and benefits from the notion of a core of multiple stakeholders.

Business plan for a Zen garden
Maja Žibrat, Karmen Pažek, Vesna Bukovac, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The placement of a theme park in the form of a Zen garden, as a business opportunity in the Slovenian rural area, is discussed. The design of the garden, with all the major points of a standard business plan, is accurately presented, with a description of the business, branch, and services, market analysis, marketing strategy, financial projections, and a plan of the work and activities. The financial aspect is presented as the amount of investment, net present value, and internal rate of return. The amount of investment is estimated at € 14.891, which should be reimbursed within 4 years of operations. The estimated internal rate of return is estimated at 16.86%. Part of the study is the market analysis - conduction of a survey into knowledge of, and interest in, Zen and Zen gardens. The principles of landscape ecology are respected, as the Zen garden would be set in the woods and will blend seamlessly into the landscape.
