Abstract: Računalniška dinamika tekočin predstavlja učinkovito orodje pri iskanju izboljšav na področju motorjev z notranjim zgorevanjem. Razvoj komercialnega programa FIRE, ki temelji na metodi končnih prostornin, poteka v smeri razvijanja in dodajanja novih modelov, ki upoštevajo nove formule za natančnejši izračun. Te naprednejše modele bi bilo smiselno ponuditi uporabnikom kot privzete parametre za podobne industrijske simulacije. V okviru naloge je prikazana študija posameznih modelnih konstant različnih emisijskih modelov za oceno emisij saj na primeru AVL-ovega raziskovalnega Dizel motorja FM530, in sicer za 5 različnih ESC (European Stationary Cycle) obratovalnih režimov, za katere obstajajo meritve tlaka in emisij. Študija je pokazala, da se s spremembo posameznih parametrov in s starimi nastavitvami ni mogoče približati eksperimentalnim vrednostim.

Recent Canadian advances in nuclear-based hydrogen production and the thermochemical Cu-Cl cycle

Abstract: This paper presents recent Canadian advances in nuclear-based production of hydrogen by electrolysis and the thermochemical copper-chlorine (Cu-Cl) cycle. This includes individual process and reactor developments within the Cu-Cl cycle, thermochemical properties, advanced materials, controls, safety, reliability, economic analysis of electrolysis at off-peak hours, and integrating hydrogen plants with Canada's nuclear power plants. These enabling technologies are being developed by a Canadian consortium, as part of the Generation IV International Forum (GIF) for hydrogen production from the next generation of nuclear reactors.

Weldability investigation of TStE 420 after weld thermal cycle simulation

Abstract: The paper presents a short description and overview of the weld thermal cycle simulation methods. An experimental investigation on the weld cycle simulated specimens is predicted by a plan of experiment using single cycle simulation. The obtained hardness results are compared with double cycle simulated specimens results of individual points in the heat-affected zone. Beside that, the characteristic microstructures of points in the heat-affected zone after a single weld thermal cycle simulation are given. A thermal simulation method is suitable for different weldability examinations. In this paper, the authors would like to investigate the maximal hardness of individual points in the weld joint what is important when considering cold cracking sensitivity.

Bifurcation of limit cycles by perturbing a piecewise linear Hamiltonian system with a homoclinic loop

Abstract: In this paper, we study limit cycle bifurcations for a kind of non-smooth polynomial differential systems by perturbing a piecewise linear Hamiltonian system with the center at the origin and a homoclinic loop around the origin. By using the first Melnikov function of piecewise near-Hamiltonian systems, we give lower bounds of the maximal number of limit cycles in Hopf and homoclinic bifurcations, and derive an upper bound of the number of limit cycles that bifurcate from the periodic annulus between the center and the homoclinic loop up to the first order in ▫$epsilon$▫. In the case when the degree of perturbing terms is low, we obtain a precise result on the number of zeros of the first Melnikov function.

Abstract: This doctoral dissertation, which consists of four substantive wholes, presents several syntheses of sustainable bioprocesses using computer-aided process engineering. In the first part the synthesis of different integrated processes of ethanol production from the entire corn plant is presented. The synthesis of different processes is in the second part further extended to the simplified and more comprehensive synthesis of bioproducts in the whole production supply chain network. Synthesis is based on the generic optimisation model of biomass production and supply chain networks. In the third part three methods for sustainable development assessment, suitable for multi-criteria optimisation, are presented: method of sustainability indexes, footprints and combined criteria, such as eco- and total profit. Methods are further upgraded with indirect effects in order to measure the unburdening the environment, associated with the use and replacement of environmentally-harmful products. Methods include the direct, indirect and total impacts on the environment. In the last part the methodology for reducing a large number of criteria within multi-objective optimisation to a small number of representative criteria is presented. This method is presented on the case of environmental footprints.

Abstract: In this assignment we discuss the issues of line balancing in a complex production line in the example of Hella KGaA Hueck & Co. The assignment describes the terms and constraints needed to successfully balance a line. With different scenarios we can evaluate all the possibilities in a production line. Based on the data we have from the production line, such as time of a station, customer demand and output, we can calculate the best way to balance our production lines, so that we meet our customer demands. The question of the optimum number of workers comes into consideration. Taking into account the trend of performance-based pay, we also consider the extra performance of a workgroup or worker. We also consider the loss of productivity while qualifying a worker in a station as well as the effect of qualification. The goal of this research is to determine the differences in a balanced line within a time wage performance, performance-based work groups and the performance related to the qualification of a worker.

Chromatic numbers of strong product of odd cycles

Abstract: The problem of determining the chromatic numbers of the strong product of cycles is considered. A construction is given proving ▫$chi(G) = 2^p + 1$▫ for a product of ▫$p$▫ odd cycles of lengths at least ▫$2^p + 1$▫. Several consequences are discussed. In particular it is proved that the strong product of ▫$p$▫ factors has chromatic number at most ▫$2^p + 1$▫ provided that each factor admits the homomorphism to sufficiently long odd cycle ▫$C_{m_i}, ; m_i ge 2^p + 1$▫.
