Community health nursing in Slovenia and Croatia - selected legal aspects
Suzana Kraljić, Blanka Kačer, 2020, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This article is dedicated to community health nursing which today constitutes the indispensable cornerstone of Slovenian and Croatian primary health-care. Authors also stress that community health nursing is recognized of crucial importance for public health and various vulnerable groups (e.g., children, elderly, ...) in many other European as well as non-European states. In Chapter 2, the authors represent basic historical milestones in both countries, Slovenia and Croatia, which have common historical roots. In Chapters 3 and 4, the central part of the article, authors analyze the current legal regulation related to community health nursing and thereby give special attention to differences in both national legal regulations. The major difference is given in concessions. Namely in Slovenia, community health nursing can be performed also based on a granted concession, but not in Croatia. In Chapter 5, some legal views on the role of community health nursing in local communities are emphasized (e.g., domestic violence). The last chapter is dedicated to the summarization of the authors' conclusions, in which they especially stress that the community health nursing in both countries today represents an important key factor for ensuring the constitutional right to health-care.

Legal aspects of the safety of healthcare professionals working with migrants
Dalila Olinda de Sá Gomes da Costa Brito, Idalina Vilela, Noemia Bessa Vilela, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The coexistence of multiple cultures is a challenge that requires behavioral changes for the health professionals, in particular nurses. This work´s objective was to understand the factors and beliefs that influence the demand for health care from immigrants in the Porto metropolitan area (Portugal), and their accessibility to the health services. We developed an exploratory-descriptive qualitative study. We obtained the data through semi-structured interviews of eleven Ukrainian residents of the Porto metropolitan area. We used the twelve cultural domains of Purnell. Sampling was non-probability, of convenience and in ˝snowball˝. Participants were required to give their free and informed consent. The results indicated some difficulties accessing health care due to inefficient communication, resulting from the language barrier and/or of different interpretations, and the disarticulation between the different immigrant support services. This study allowed the implementation of strategies designed to promote health care directed to immigrants, taking into consideration the diversity and vulnerability when accessing health services.

English for Specific Purposes - Students of Nursing Bridging the Gap between Theory and Practice
Sofia Ha Vela, 2016, diplomsko delo

Opis: Theoretical framework: Mastering a foreign language is a necessary component in the pursuit of a successful nursing career. Needs analysis identifies the purposes of learning, the best teaching methods, and the possible problems in implementing the language program. Purpose: This thesis explored the academic and professional needs of the English language for nursing students at the Faculty of Health Sciences in Maribor and for health care employees within the region in order to build a bridge between theory and practice. Methodology: The quantitative method of research was applied and a survey questionnaire was used as an instrument to collect data. Questions included in the survey were mostly of the closed type. Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel were used to analyze, examine, and edit the acquired information. Results: It was determined that the learning needs of the students should focus on verbal communication and listening comprehension and less on grammar. More emphasis should be placed on conversational English, as both the student and employee groups felt that this was the most efficient method for learning. Conclusion: The necessary information is now available to make improvements to the English language courses at the Faculty of Health Sciences in Maribor to better meet the needs of future health care professionals. Ultimately, this can improve communication between nurses and patients in a foreign language and increase the quality of care.
