1. Prostorska analiza javne infrastrukture za polnjenje električnih vozil v izbranih evropskih mestih z uporabo GIS : diplomsko deloEngin Ibrahim, 2025, undergraduate thesis Abstract: Diplomsko delo proučuje prostorsko razporeditev in gostoto javne polnilne infrastrukture
za električna vozila v izbranih evropskih mestih, s posebnim poudarkom na prostorski
enakosti. Študija izhaja iz globalnega izziva podnebnih sprememb, ki so posledica emisij
toplogrednih plinov. Evropska unija (ang. European Union; v nadaljevanju: EU) se je
zavezala k ambicioznemu zmanjšanju emisij. Do leta 2050 želi doseči podnebno
nevtralnost, do leta 2030 pa 55 % zmanjšanje emisij v primerjavi z letom 1990. Ker
promet predstavlja približno četrtino vseh emisij toplogrednih plinov v EU, osebni
avtomobili pa več kot 70 % tega deleža, je elektrifikacija mobilnosti ključna za dosego
teh ciljev. Električna vozila so v Evropi doživela hitro rast. Tržni delež je od leta 2016, ko
je znašal le 1 % novih avtomobilov, do leta 2023 presegel 22 %. Toda širitev polnilne
infrastrukture je zaostajala. Do konca leta 2023 je bilo v EU okoli 632.000 javnih polnilnih
mest, medtem ko projekcije kažejo, da jih bo do leta 2030 potrebnih 3.5 milijona. To
pomeni, da bo treba v sedmih letih namestiti skoraj 2.9 milijona dodatnih polnilnic, kar
je približno 410.000 na leto. Poleg tega je razporeditev polnilnic močno neenakomerna
med regijami, državami in mestnimi četrtmi, kar ustvarja pomembne ovire za širšo
uporabo električnih vozil.
Delo se ukvarja s to vrzeljo z oceno prostorske pokritosti javnih polnilnic po
administrativnih enotah v osmih evropskih mestih: Amsterdamu, Bologni, Bruslju,
Eindhovnu, Gentu, Ljubljani, Parizu in na Dunaju. Ta mesta so bila izbrana zaradi
razpoložljivosti zanesljivih odprtih podatkov. Teza dela je, da je polnilna infrastruktura
bolj skoncentrirana na osrednje četrti kot na obrobne. Cilji vključujejo kartiranje in
vizualizacijo razporeditve polnilnic v izbranih mestih z uporabo ArcGIS Pro, analizo
prostorske prisotnosti javnih polnilnih mest po administrativnih enotah z izračunom
gostote na kvadratni kilometer ter prepoznavanje četrti z najvišjo in najnižjo
koncentracijo javnih polnilnih točk.
Za izvedbo pregleda literature so bile uporabljene znanstvene baze podatkov. Izbrane so
bile študije, ki so se osredotočale na polnilno infrastrukturo za električna vozila v urbanih
okoljih, s posebnim poudarkom na tistih, ki uporabljajo geografske informacijske sisteme
(ang. Geographic Information System, v nadaljevanju: GIS). Prostorski podatki so bili
zbrani iz občinskih odprtih podatkovnih portalov, OpenStreetMapa in drugih odprtih
virov. Meje četrti so bile pridobljene kot poligonske plasti, podatki o polnilnicah pa kot
točkovne koordinate. Po uvozu v ArcGIS Pro so bili vsi podatki standardizirani v skupni
koordinatni sistem. Polnilne točke so bile pretvorjene v točkovne podatkovne sloje, četrti
pa v poligonske sloje. Prvi analitični korak je uporabil orodje Summarize Within v
programu ArcGIS Pro za štetje polnilnih točk znotraj posameznih poligonov četrti.
Površina četrti je bila izračunana z uporabo funkcije Calculate Geometry, gostota pa je
bila izražena kot polnilnice na km². Rezultati so bili izvoženi v Excel, kjer so bile izdelane
preglednice za vsako mesto, kar je omogočilo enostavno primerjavo. Za vizualizacijo sta
bili uporabljeni orodji za računanje točkovne gostote (Point Density) in jedrne gostote
(Kernel Density). Point Density je prikazal število polnilnic znotraj določenega iskalnega
radija za vsako celico rastra in s tem omogočil lokalne kazalnike visoke in nizke
koncentracije. Jedrna gostota (Kernel Density) je ustvarila zvezne površine z glajenjem
vpliva posameznih vhodnih točk skozi določene pasovne širine, kar je omogočilo
prepoznavanje gruč in prostorskih gradientov, ki presegajo meje četrti. Simbolika in
postavitve so bile standardizirane za vse zemljevide, kar je omogočilo neposredno
primerjavo med mesti.
Vrednosti gostote, izračunane z orodjem Summarize Within, kažejo na dosledne vzorce v

2. Simulacija poplav v urbanem okolju z uporabo geografskih informacijskih sistemovSelma Bubić, 2025, undergraduate thesis Abstract: Namen diplomskega dela je bil ovrednotiti uporabnost orodja ArcGIS Pro za simulacijo poplavnih scenarijev v urbanem okolju na primeru mesta Celje. V okviru raziskave so bili izvedeni štirje simulacijski scenariji, ki so zajemali različne padavinske razmere, od obdobja brez padavin do intenzivnih in dolgotrajnih nalivov. S tem je bilo mogoče preučiti prostorsko in časovno dinamiko zadrževanja padavinskih voda ter oceniti, v kolikšni meri orodje uspešno zajame ključne dejavnike, ki vplivajo na pojav urbanih poplav, kot so topografija, prepustnost površin, infrastrukturne ovire in smer gravitacijskega toka vode.
Rezultati kažejo, da ArcGIS Pro omogoča realistične simulacije, ki ponujajo vpogled v kompleksne procese odtoka in akumulacije padavinskih voda. Ugotovitve potrjujejo praktično uporabnost orodja pri načrtovanju prostorskih in hidrotehničnih ukrepov za zmanjševanje poplavne ogroženosti, hkrati pa nakazujejo možnosti za nadaljnjo nadgradnjo modelov z vključevanjem dodatnih okoljskih in infrastrukturnih podatkov. 3. Hidrološko–hidravlična študija območja na Zgornjem Jezerskem s programoma QGIS in HEC-RASAljaž Kumberger, 2025, master's thesis Abstract: V zaključnem delu je obravnavana hidrološko-hidravlična analiza območja Zgornjega Jezerskega z uporabo odprtokodnih programov QGIS in HEC-RAS. Namen naloge je oceniti poplavno ogroženost izbranega območja na podlagi različnih povratnih dob (Q10, Q100, Q500) ter izdelati karte poplavne nevarnosti. Uporabljen je bil 2D model, pri čemer je bil teren modeliran na osnovi LiDAR podatkov in geodetskega posnetka. V okviru raziskave smo najprej zbrali literaturo s področja hidrologije in hidravlike ter podrobno predstavili programska orodja. Nato smo izdelali digitalni model reliefa in izvedli simulacije. Pridobljeni rezultati omogočajo boljše prostorsko načrtovanje in obvladovanje poplavne ogroženosti v obravnavanem območju. Zaključno delo tako predstavlja pomemben prispevek k uporabi odprtokodnih orodij v inženirski praksi. 4. Assessing the potential of urban orchards, berry bushes, and apiaries for local food production and carbon mitigation in a small European CityRok Kamnik, 2025, original scientific article Abstract: With the growing concentration of populations in urban centres, ensuring resilient and sustainable food systems has become a critical priority. Disruptions in food supply chains, particularly in small cities with limited logistical flexibility, can severely compromise food availability. In response, the utilisation of urban green spaces for food production has been increasingly recognised as a viable strategy to enhance local self-sufficiency while contributing to broader environmental goals. This study evaluated the potential for integrating urban orchards, berry bushes, and apiaries within the public green spaces of Maribor, a small Slovenian city with a total area of 40 km². Emphasis was placed on publicly owned or publicly accessible land—including municipal holdings, stateowned plots, and land managed by public companies—that remains underutilised yet suitable for edible landscaping. Using spatial analysis conducted through QGis, available green space was quantified and assessed for suitability in supporting fruit trees, edible shrubs, and beekeeping installations. Estimates were then derived for the number of fruit and berry seedlings that could be planted, the volume of potential fruit and honey yields, and the corresponding contribution to carbon dioxide reduction through enhanced urban vegetation and decreased food transport dependency. The results indicate that even fragmented and seemingly marginal green areas possess significant aggregate potential for improving local food resilience, fostering community engagement, and delivering measurable carbon mitigation benefits. Furthermore, urban food forests and community orchards were identified as multifunctional landscape interventions that not only enhance food security but also improve urban biodiversity, air quality, and residents’ mental well-being. These findings align with the European Union’s objectives for urban ecosystem efficiency and carbon neutrality by 2050 and underscore the importance of integrating edible green infrastructure into urban planning frameworks. The study contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting the role of decentralised, nature-based solutions in urban sustainability transitions. 6. Mapping the Transformation potential of streets using urban planning parameters and open spatial datasetsKaja Pogačar, Andrej Žižek, Peter Šenk, 2022, original scientific article Abstract: Streets with an increasingly important place function play a significant role in the contemporary discourse on sustainable cities. The paper addresses urban streets that, observed from the urban planning perspective, have the potential to be transformed into either commercial or residential shared streets. After defining urban planning parameters identified as characteristic of shared streets, streets were quantified based on an analysis of the existing shared streets in Central Europe. By setting up distinctive scenarios that could help to detect specific types of streets, open spatial datasets were used for the mapping and identification of streets that could be transformed into shared streets. The methodology was tested on the example of the city of Maribor in Slovenia. The results of the research show that the selected urban planning parameters can help to identify streets with transformation potential, whereas the basic parameters, such as the building use and the length and width of the street, help us to better understand the urban fabric in which street spaces acquire new functions. The presented mapping method could serve as a testing tool for experts, planners, decision-makers, and the interested public to identify potential street transformations. 7. Spatial modelling of the transport mode choice : application on the Vienna transport networkSimona Šinko, Bojan Rupnik, Klemen Prah, Tomaž Kramberger, 2021, original scientific article Abstract: A new approach for spatial modelling of transport mode choice is presented in the paper. The approach tackles the problem by considering the trade-off between subjective and objective factors. To obtain mode Preference Rates (PRs) based on subjective factors, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method is applied. The objective factors are expressed with the journey time from any point in the map to destination according to the available transport mode choice on the specific connection. The results are presented as PRs of individual transport modes. The model is validated on the con-ducted the survey, with students of Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) as a target audience. Members of different target groups (age, national, employment) decide differently regarding the transport choice, so it is better to analyse them separately. The presented model can be used for the city transport planning in any urban area. It can help promote the sustainable modes of transport in the areas that are less adjusted in sustainable manner. 8. Načrtovanje zaklonišč v Sloveniji s programom ARCGIS PRO za primer trka asteroida : diplomsko deloPatricija Rijavec, 2024, undergraduate thesis Abstract: V diplomskem delu smo se podrobno posvetili ugotavljanju ustreznih lokacij za postavitev podzemnih zaklonišč po celotni Sloveniji za primer trka asteroida. Za to smo uporabili računalniški program ArcGIS Pro, ki nam je omogočil analizo in vizualizacijo prostorskih podatkov. Pri izbiri najustreznejših lokacij za zaklonišča smo upoštevali različne dejavnike. Med njimi so bili gostota hišnih številk stavbnih objektov, prometna infrastruktura in hidrografija. Gostota hišnih številk nam je pomagala določiti, kje bi bila zaklonišča najbolj potrebna, medtem ko sta prometna infrastruktura in hidrografija vplivali na izločevanje neustreznih lokacij zaklonišč. Na podlagi izbranih najustreznejših lokacij zaklonišč smo analizirali tudi dostopnost in časovne intervale evakuacij do njih. Vse postopke, ki smo jih opravili s pomočjo programa ArcGIS Pro, smo podrobno opisali. Poleg tega smo se na podlagi primera enega zaklonišča osredotočili na izzive, povezane z oskrbo s hrano, vodo in elektriko za obdobje petih let. Razpravljali smo o možnostih za pridobivanje sveže hrane med časom bivanja v zaklonišču, kot sta vrtnarjenje in vzreja kokoši. Poudarili smo tudi pomen pravilnega razporeda osebja in medicinskih zalog po zakloniščih. Determining the patterns between meteorological and topographical features is an important scientific job. Cloud cover analysis and properties can be of the utmost significance for potential cloud seeding. Here, the analysis of the cloud properties was conducted by means of Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) satellite recordings. The resolution of used data was 1 km2 within the period of 30 years (1989-2019). This research showed moderate changing of cloudiness in the territory of Serbia with a high cloudiness in February, followed by cloudiness in January and November. For the past three decades, May has been the month with the highest cloudiness. The regions in the east and south-west, and particularly in the west, have a high absolute cloudiness, which is connected with the high elevation of the country. By means of long term monitoring, the whole territory of Serbia was analyzed for the first time, in terms of cloudiness. Apart from the statistical and numerical results obtained, this research showed a connection between relief and clouds, especially in the winter season. Linear regression MK (Mann-Kendall test) has proven this theory right, connecting high elevation sides with high absolute cloudiness through the year. 10. Optimal bus stops' allocation : a school bus routing problem with respect to terrain elevationKlemen Prah, Abolfazl Keshavarzsaleh, Tomaž Kramberger, Borut Jereb, Dejan Dragan, 2018, original scientific article Abstract: The paper addresses the optimal bus stops allocation in the Laško municipality. The goal is to achieve a cost reduction by proper re-designing of a mandatory pupils' transportation to their schools. The proposed heuristic optimization algorithm relies on data clustering and Monte Carlo simulation. The number of bus stops should be minimal possible that still assure a maximal service area, while keeping the minimal walking distances children have to go from their homes to the nearest bus stop. The working mechanism of the proposed algorithm is explained. The latter is driven by three-dimensional GIS data to take into account as much realistic dynamic properties of terrain as possible. The results show that the proposed algorithm achieves an optimal solution with only 37 optimal bus stops covering 94.6 % of all treated pupils despite the diversity and wideness of municipality, as well as the problematic characteristics of terrains' elevation. The calculated bus stops will represent important guidelines to their actual physical implementation.
