1. Digital transformation reduces costs of the paints and coatings development processTomaž Kern, Eva Krhač Andrašec, Benjamin Urh, Marjan Senegačnik, 2020, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: An essential characteristic of the new product development process is to develop a new marketable product in the shortest possible time with the lowest reasonable costs. Therefore, the key factor of the process is efficiency. The paints and coatings industry development process contain numerous laboratory tests to determine the appropriateness of new formulation. It is proven that digital transformation can reduce the number of laboratory tests and consequently shorten the throughput time of the development process. This raised the question of whether the faster development process also reduces the process’ cost, or they even increase due to information and communication technology implementation. Therefore, the research’s purpose was to determine whether reducing the number of laboratory tests, based on the implementation of information and communication technology (ICT), affects reducing costs in the paints and coatings development process. The conventional process and the redesigned process of paints and coatings development were used as the basis of the research. The comparative analysis of the costs incurred during the development process was made. The analysis compares the types and amount of incurred costs. The article proves that digital transformation has a significant impact on up to 48% on reducing costs of the paints and coatings development process. 2. Speeding up the implementation of industry 4.0 with management tools : empirical investigations in manufacturing organizationsRok Črešnar, Vojko Potočan, Zlatko Nedelko, 2020, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The main purpose of this study is to examine how the use of management tools supports the readiness of manufacturing organizations for the implementation of Industry 4.0. The originality of the research is reflected in the exploration of the relationship between the use of the selected well-known management tools and their readiness for the implementation of Industry 4.0, which was assessed using a combination of two models—one developed by the National Academy of Science and Engineering (Acatech) and the other by the University of Warwick. The relationship was assessed by applying structural equation modeling techniques to a data set of 323 responses from employees in manufacturing organizations. The results show that the use of six sigma, total quality management, radio frequency identification, a balanced scorecard, rapid prototyping, customer segmentation, mission and vision statements, and digital transformation is positively associated with Industry 4.0 readiness. Inversely, outsourcing and strategic planning are negatively associated with Industry 4.0 readiness, while lean manufacturing, which is often emphasized as the cornerstone of Industry 4.0 implementation, is not associated with Industry 4.0 readiness in our study. These findings can help organizations to understand how to consider and measure readiness for the implementation of Industry 4.0 more comprehensively and present guidelines on how the use of management tools in manufacturing organizations can foster their implementation of Industry 4.0 principles. 3. Possibilities and concerns of implementing precision agriculture technologies on small farms in SloveniaJurij Rakun, Erik Rihter, Damijan Kelc, Denis Stajnko, Peter Vindiš, Peter Berk, Peter Polič, Miran Lakota, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Precision agriculture (PA) through the use and utilization of innovative technologies is a concept in agricultural management that enables long-term efficiency gains, control of unforeseen changes, and a reduction of negative impacts on the environment. However, there are even more reasons and benefits to using precision agriculture technologies (PATs) on farms, but the actual use on small farms is often questionable. The main objective of this research was to evaluate and analyze the current state of PA and its potential on a set of small farms. In addition, a comparison was made between small farms located in less favored areas (LFAs) and more favored areas (MFAs) to find if specific characteristics of the surrounding environment affect the (non-) implementation of these technologies by farm owners, with respect to the given regional possibilities. The result shows that 57.5% of respondents on these farms have never implemented PATs before and 20% are beginners in their respective fields. It was found that there were no statistically significant differences in the integration between fewer LFAs and MFAs technologies and their use in this study. The majority of respondents believe that the main changes need to occur on the level of politics. The results show that the level of cost or initial investment is the main reason and the main obstacle in the implementation of PATs on the surveyed farms. 4. Barriers to applying last-mile logistics in the Egyptian market : an extension of the technology acceptance modelMohamed Amr Sultan, Tomaž Kramberger, Mahmoud Barakat, Ahmed Hussein Ali, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Drawing on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), this research aims to investigate
the impact of social, environmental, and technological barriers on adopting the last-mile logistics
application. This research used a self-administrative questionnaire to collect 1060 respondents from
the Egyptian market and analysed it using partial least square structural equation modeling. The
findings revealed that some elements could obstruct the implementation of last-mile delivery technologies, namely complexity, collaboration efforts between users and application developers and the
impact of technical knowledge and expertise on the potentially involved users. The sharing economy
helps organisations reduce contaminants, emissions and carbon footprints, and last-mile logistics is
one of the tools of the sharing economy that can enhance the productivity and competitiveness of
logistics and boost consumer fulfillment. This research will help enhance organisations’ performance
in Egypt as a developing country and push towards applying environmental sustainability practices,
as it introduces a tool to enhance customer satisfaction and reduce emissions by illustrating how
last-mile logistics can be implemented. This is particularly important as last-mile logistics face some
implementation barriers, especially in developing countries. In addition, it will help in extending
the theory through conceptualising its abstract ideas with the research variables and applying it in a
different context.

5. Improving comprehension of process diagrams with Graphical highlightsGregor Jošt, 2018, doktorska disertacija Opis: The main purpose of business process diagrams is to facilitate the communication between the process-related stakeholders, which directly affects the decision-making. For this reason, they must be easy to understand. However, this is often challenging to achieve, since business process diagrams can become large and complex. This, in turn, can negatively affect their correctness and understandability. The goal of this doctoral thesis was to propose and investigate an approach that makes business process diagrams appear less complex, without changing the corresponding diagrammatic notation or the business process diagrams themselves. This was done by manipulating the opacity of graphical elements in order to emphasize the important parts of a business process diagram by lowlighting the irrelevant ones. The proposed solution, named Emphasis, implemented with opacity-based Graphical Highlight pattern, abbreviated as simply Graphical highlights, was subsequently applied to sample business process diagram, modeled in Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN). The analysis demonstrated that the structural complexity of the business process diagrams decreased when the proposed solution was applied. Afterwards, a Web application prototype was implemented, which supports the proposed set of Graphical highlights.
Furthermore, we empirically validated whether Graphical highlights positively impact cognitive effectiveness of business process diagrams, and if the users will find the prototype implementation useful. To this end, an experimental research, which included 85 participants, was conducted. The participants were randomly assigned in either the treatment group (Graphical highlights diagram representation approach), or the control group (conventional diagram representation approach). In accordance with the definition of cognitive effectiveness, speed, ease, and accuracy of answering 26 comprehension questions were observed, along with the perceived usefulness of the prototype. The results of the analysis demonstrated that participants who used Graphical highlights significantly outperformed those that used the conventional approach in all experiment's observations.
We can conclude that using Graphical highlights increases the cognitive effectiveness of business process diagrams, while the corresponding prototype implementation is perceived as being useful. 6. Characteristics of Austrian remedies against enforcement and a general analysis of their suitability for achieving the objectives of Brussels I recastBettina Nunner-Krautgasser, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Regulation No 1215/2012 (Brussels Ia or Brussels I Recast) was another big step forward towards the establishment of a genuine European judicial area. In the wake of the Brussels I Recast, two facts have rather soon become apparent: One, several well- known (or better: infamous) issues are sadly still unsolved. And two, some other issues have emerged. Because of the abolishment of the “exequatur procedure”, esp. the issue of remedies against enforcement, in both the Member State of origin as well as in the Member State of enforcement, has gained more importance again. Therefore this paper analysis the characteristics of Austrian remedies in enforcement and their suitability for achieving the objects of Brussels I Recast. 7. Green logistics - development and implementationMatjaž Knez, Matevž Obrecht, 2016, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji Opis: Environmental problems, material depletion, and high dependency on fossil fuels are core problems of logistics in the EU as well as globally. Therefore, numerous countries, in particular Member States of the EU, have ambitious goals for the increased use of renewables, increased energy efficiency, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, transition to sustainable transportation and similar changes. EU companies are, therefore, strongly committed to reducing their environmental impact, reducing the use of fossil fuels and becoming more sustainable. Logistics companies are no exception due to the impact of logistics processes, such as transportation and distribution that impact human health, ecosystem and air quality, climate changes (with noise, vibrations, fossil fuel related harmful emissions etc.), warehousing (especially with energy used for heating and cooling) and packaging (especially with the use of material). Therefore, the implementation of green logistics is necessary for the sustainable future of our planet. This chapter identifies how the idea of green logistics was developed and has evolved, analyses key problems for its implementation, and presents the current status of green logistics, including the best practices of green logistics implementation in selected organizations. 8. The impact of managers on successful ERP implementationFranc Ravnikar, 2010, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Lately, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) has been implemented in public organizations and organizations without competition in the marketplace. It is the ERP system that is almost as badly needed for the competitiveness and success of those organizations in the marketplace. The main reason lies in the fact that operating costs have to be reduced and the optimization of business processes is an option which nowadays is normally implemented together with new ERP. The success rate of ERP implementation remains very low with up to a 90% failure rate, as it is quoted in a lot of researches. Critical success factors (CSF) which influence successful ERP implementation are identical in all organizations. The main goal of this research is to find out the managers' impact on the critical success factors and thus their impact on the successful ERP implementation. Top management support is the most important critical success factor for successful ERP implementation, regardless of the fact whether the organization is on the market or not. 9. Survey of accomplishments in BIM implementation in Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, and SloveniaMario Galić, Vaclav Venkrbec, Franziska Chmelik, Immo Feine, Zoran Pučko, Uroš Klanšek, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Building information modelling (BIM) may currently be considered the fastest developing concept in the field of construction management, aiming to become a global standard. Although the roots of the concept date back to the mid-1970s, some original expectations are still missing from its implementation. There has been a time gap between its theoretical and practical implementations. While the simultaneous development of information technologies is one reason for the implementation delay, other reasons remain unclear. This paper analyzes the gaps between theoretical and practical BIM application, as well as the legislation regarding BIM implementation in four countries (in alphabetical order: Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Slovenia). The paper additionally presents a survey of current practical BIM applications as well as general and theoretical feedback from construction projects that implemented BIM. 10. A successful CRM implementation project in a service company : case studyFranka Piskar, Armand Faganel, 2009, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Customer relationship management - CRM implementations increased rapidly in Slovenia in the last few years, following the trends elsewhere. Studies reporting how the implementation project goes on before, between and after the implementation are scarce. We offer a thorough case study analysis of the CRM implementation with a positive outcome in a Slovene service company. Case study demonstrates that CRM implementation is a holistic and complex concept, which means that it is not merely an integration of new information technology, but everything that happens around the business processes changes. We recommend that the company has already established a process approach and the orientation toward customers. Study showed the need for efficient leadership, acquirement of resources and CRM strategy implementation control; trust to the software solution shouldn't be self-understood. Through implemented analytical CRM company can improve the relationship with customers, achieve larger information sharing between employees and accept better strategic decisions.
