Opis: The 5th International Conference on Technologies & Business Models for Circular Economy (TBMCE) was organized by the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, University of Maribor in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Štajerska and SRIP- Circular Economy. The conference was held in Portorož, Slovenia, at the Grand Hotel Portorož from September 12th to September 14th, 2022. TBMCE 2022 was devoted to presentations of circular economy concepts, technologies and methodologies that contribute to the shift of business entities and society as a whole to a more responsible, circular management of resources. The conference program included a round table: Asia – factory of the world, what about the EU?, 4 panel discussions, 1 plenary and 4 keynote lectures, oral and poster presentations on the following topics: Sustainable energy, Biomass and alternative raw materials, Circular business models, Secondary raw materials and functional materials, ICT in Circular Economy, Processes and technologies. The event was under the honorary patronage of Mr. Matjaž Han, Minister of Economic Development and Technology.

Implementing a business idea: an example of a business model for a digital marketing agency

Opis: In the diploma thesis, we researched the process of implementing a business idea, mainly because we live in a rapidly changing digital world, where more and more individuals opt for entrepreneurship, yet many business ideas remain unrealized due to lack of knowledge about the implementation process. We prepared a business model for the development and implementation of our business idea, namely the establishment of a digital marketing agency where we will provide services related to support in digital marketing and IT solutions. In the first part of the thesis, we defined the development and generation of business ideas in more detail, presented the ways to assess business opportunities, defined the importance of a properly designed business model, presented the models for assessing the value of business ideas, defined the general importance of a business plan, presented different types of business structures and possible ways of obtaining financial resources when starting a new company. In the following, we analyzed modern methods of developing a new business referring to the lean start-up method which is currently considered an innovative approach to business development in the world of entrepreneurship. We then compared the lean start-up method with the traditional business planning approach, analyzed key arguments, and formed an opinion on an approach that is suitable for the implementation of our business idea. In the empirical part, we developed our business idea according to the "lean" canvas business model with the corresponding financial plan. With the help of this model, we tested the viability of our business idea. In each segment of the "lean" canvas business model, we wrote down in detail the factors that we obtained from the research. We found that the lean start-up method with associated financial plan is a suitable method for developing our business idea. The reason for this is that we will be operating in a global market where the competition is very high, which consequently makes our business idea time sensitive. We have also found that the financial plan used in the traditional approach should not be completely neglected, mainly because of the insight into costs, revenues, and possible opportunities for obtaining external funds. With the help of the mentioned method and the analysis of the financial side of our business idea, we found that our business idea will be profitable, and that the business idea can be realized with the set investment.

K-vertex: a novel model for the cardinality constraints enforcement in graph databases : doctoral dissertation

Opis: The increasing number of network-shaped domains calls for the use of graph database technology, where there are continuous efforts to develop mechanisms to address domain challenges. Relationships as 'first-class citizens' in graph databases can play an important role in studying the structural and behavioural characteristics of the domain. In this dissertation, we focus on studying the cardinality constraints mechanism, which also exploits the edges of the underlying property graph. The results of our literature review indicate an obvious research gap when it comes to concepts and approaches for specifying and representing complex cardinality constraints for graph databases validated in practice. To address this gap, we present a novel and comprehensive approach called the k-vertex cardinality constraints model for enforcing higher-order cardinality constraints rules on edges, which capture domain-related business rules of varying complexity. In our formal k-vertex cardinality constraint concept definition, we go beyond simple patterns formed between two nodes and employ more complex structures such as hypernodes, which consist of nodes connected by edges. We formally introduce the concept of k-vertex cardinality constraints and their properties as well as the property graph-based model used for their representation. Our k-vertex model includes the k-vertex cardinality constraint specification by following a pre-defined syntax followed by a visual representation through a property graph-based data model and a set of algorithms for the implementation of basic operations relevant for working with k-vertex cardinality constraints. In the practical part of the dissertation, we evaluate the applicability of the k-vertex model on use cases by carrying two separate case studies where we present how the model can be implemented on fraud detection and data classification use cases. We build a set of relevant k-vertex cardinality constraints based on real data and explain how each step of our approach is to be done. The results obtained from the case studies prove that the k-vertex model is entirely suitable to represent complex business rules as cardinality constraints and can be used to enforce these cardinality constraints in real-world business scenarios. Next, we analyze the performance efficiency of our model on inserting new edges into graph databases with varying number of edges and outgoing node degree and compare it against the case when there is no cardinality constraints checking. The results of the statistical analysis confirm a stable performance of the k-vertex model on varying datasets when compared against a case with no cardinality constraints checking. The k-vertex model shows no significant performance effect on property graphs with varying complexity and it is able to serve as a cardinality constraints enforcement mechanism without large effects on the database performance.

Importance of business models in circular economy : bachelor thesis

Opis: This bachelor thesis studies and analyzes the importance of business models in the Circular Economy. The company studied is an SME, i.e. 10 to 250 employees. The smaller companies are mainly confronted with the problem of resources, and the larger ones with their strategic orientation. The aim is to generate a guideline or way of doing that serves as a model for the SMEs already created so that the transition from the Linear Economy, which is still predominant today, to a Circular Economy. The idea is, after the study, a real case study of SMEs working with the premises of CE to establish a market model that follows the same. To support changes, we have documented the different business models currently in use, choosing the Canvas Business Model for several reasons and making the various changes necessary to make this a sustainable and circular model. In addition, it is established that the process of innovation and modification must be applied as a continuous cyclical process. If the company wants to be successful, it is a continuous cycle model, which should never stop.

Opis: The Bled eConference, organised by the University of Maribor, Faculty of Organizational Sciences, has been shaping electronic interaction since 1988. After 2 years COVID-19 pandemic, when the conference was held online, this year we met again in Bled, Slovenia. The theme of the 35th conference is "Digital Restructuring and Human (re)Action". During the pandemic, we experienced the important role of digital technologies in enabling people and enterprises to interact, collaborate, and find new opportunities and ways to overcome various challenges. The use of digital technologies in these times has accelerated the digital transformation of enterprises and societies. It will be important to leverage this momentum for further implementation and exploitation of digital technologies that will bring positive impacts and solutions for people, enterprises and societies. The need to achieve sustainability goals and sustainable development of society has increased. Digital technologies will continue to play an important role in achieving these goals. Uporaba programskega jezika al v okolju microsoft dynamics 365 business central

Opis: Celovita informacijska rešitev je programska oprema, ki jo podjetja uporabljajo za upravljanje in integracijo poslovnih procesov znotraj podjetja. Dandanes podjetja nenehno iščejo načine, kako izboljšati svojo uspešnost, pridobiti poslovno prednost in ostati konkurenčen na svojem trgu. Konkurenca jih sili k temu, da čim bolj optimizirajo področja, na katerih delujejo, iščejo nove rešitve in tehnologije ter tako povečujejo pomen sodobnih informacijskih sistemov. Sodobno vodstvo se močno opira na informacije kot nujen vir za razvoj drugih virov in pridobivanje prednosti pred konkurenco. Uporaba ene baze podatkov dramatično poenostavi pretok informacij v celotnem podjetju. Celovite informacijske rešitve vključujejo več modulov, povezanih z eno centralizirano bazo podatkov. Ti moduli so: prodaja, človeški viri, finance, logistika, proizvodnja, izpolnjevanje naročil in upravljanje dobaviteljev. Celovite informacijske rešitve tako odpravljajo težave s podatki, kot so odvečnost, nedoslednost, podvojenost itn. Omogočajo tudi vpogled celo podjetje v realnem času, saj omogočajo sledenje naročil in inventarja izdelkov, avtomatizacijo naročil in plačil, nižje stroške namestitve, skrajšanje časa cikla naročil in izboljšanje upravljanja z denarnimi sredstvi. Večina podjetij, ki imajo uvedene celovite informacijske rešitve, ima višje rezultate pri odločanju in višjo kakovost sprejetih odločitev. Ena izmed teh rešitev je tudi Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, ki je oblačna rešitev za mala in srednja podjetja. Microsoft uporablja Visual Studio Code kot razvojno okolje za Business Central. Visual Studio Code je bil predstavljen aprila 2015 in je brezplačen odprtokodni urejevalnik kod. Prav tako si je treba namestiti tudi programski jezik AL. Z nekaj izjemami ves razvoj aplikacij Business Central poteka v Visual Studio Code. V praktičnem delu bomo predstavili del razvoja Business Central v programskem jeziku AL. Ustvarili bomo razširitev za nadzor kakovosti, v katerem bomo ustvarili nove tabele, strani, razširitve tabel, jih med seboj povezali in prikazali končni izdelek v rešitvi Business Central.

Primerjalna analiza rešitev ERP Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in Odoo

Opis: Za podjetja je pomembno, da svoje ključne poslovne procese vodijo uspešno in učinkovito, pri čemer jim pomagajo celovite informacijske rešitve, tako imenovane rešitve ERP. Le-te so zamenjale obstoječe informacijske rešitve, ki podjetjem niso ponujale tako optimalnega poslovanja. Z uvedbo rešitev ERP v podjetja, se tem odpravijo napake podvajanja podatkov, saj so le-ti shranjeni na enem mestu, tudi moduli so integrirani med seboj za lažjo povezljivost podatkov. V svetu, ki ga živimo ni več vprašanje ali rešitev ERP uvajati temveč, katero izmed rešitev izbrati. Poznamo veliko ponudnikov rešitev ERP tako domačih kot tujih. Kljub pestri izbiri ponudnikov rešitev ERP, smo se v tem diplomskem delu omejili in podrobneje raziskali dve rešitvi ERP, in sicer Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in Odoo. Rešitve ERP se lahko uvajajo po različnih korakih oziroma fazah, kot lahko vidimo v nadaljevanju se tudi rešitvi ERP Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in Odoo med seboj razlikujeta v fazah uvajanja. Znotraj uvajanja pa se lahko podjetja poslužujejo različnih pristopov uvedbe rešitev ERP. Kot smo predhodno omenili, smo se znotraj tega dela omejili na dve izbrani rešitvi ERP, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in Odoo, ki sta namenjeni majhnim in srednje velikim podjetjem, vendar je Odoo zaradi svoje pestre ponudbe aplikacij privlačna izbira tudi za velika podjetja. Rešitvi ERP sta zgrajeni modularno, moduli pokrivajo celotno poslovanje podjetja. Čeprav sta rešitvi v mnogih vidikih podobni, pa se razlikujeta predvsem iz vidika funkcionalnosti, ki jih ponujata. Konec tega dela predstavlja primerjava izbranih rešitev ERP iz vidika splošnih in tehničnih značilnosti, uvajanja ter njunih lastnostih.

Primerjalna analiza rešitve erp microsoft dynamics 365 business central in odoo

Opis: Današnji svet se s pomočjo različnih tehnologij hitro spreminja, zato lahko predpostavimo, da bo večina podjetij v naslednjih nekaj letih uvedla eno izmed rešitev ERP. Rešitve ERP bodo podjetjem pomagale pri boljšem in učinkovitejšem poslovanju s pomočjo racionalizacije in avtomatizacije številnih postopkov. Gre za rešitve, ki podpirajo področja, kot so proizvodnja, prodaja, upravljanje s človeškimi viri, računovodstvo, finance itd. V prvem delu diplomskega dela smo predstavili teoretično raven rešitve ERP, kjer smo opredelili rešitev ERP, funkcionalnosti rešitev ERP, razvoj rešitev ERP, značilnosti rešitev ERP, našteli smo nekaj prednosti in slabosti rešitev ERP in na koncu predstavili trenutne vodile domače in tuje ponudnike rešitev ERP. V drugem delu diplomskega dela smo predstavili rešitvi Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in Odoo. Za vsako rešitev smo opisali posamezno podjetje, podrobneje predstavili obe rešitvi, opisali strukturo, arhitekturo in predstavili postopek uvajanja rešitve v podjetje s pomočjo metodologije Sure Step in metodologije Odoo. Na koncu diplomskega dela smo naredili primerjalno analizo med Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in Odoo. Predstavili smo ključne razlike, po katerih se medsebojno razlikujeta, kot so velikost podjetja, ponudniki, cena, moduli, možnosti namestitve, metodologija, podatkovna baza, koncept delovanja, programski jeziki in lokalizacija rešitve. Ugotovili smo, da sta si rešitvi dokaj podobni, saj obe rešitvi ponujata tuja ponudnika in sta namenjeni malim in srednje velikim podjetjem. Obe rešitvi ponujata večjezičnost in slovensko lokalizacijo. Vendar je največja razlika pri metodi uvajanja rešitve v podjetje. Medtem ko Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central uporablja metodologijo Sure Step, Odoo uporablja metodologijo Odoo.

Implementation of a new reporting process in a group x

Opis: Reporting is present in every company. Whether it is small or big, it cannot be avoided. It plays a crucial role in the process and progress of business. The quality of reporting affects the development of the work environment and the company. Since business report is a document that contains business information, which supports the decisions about the future-oriented business decisions, it is very important for it to be designed in such a way that it contains the key information for the recipient and provides support for business decisions. The reporting process can take place horizontally upwards or downwards. Content and structure vary depending on the recipient of the report. We live in an age when our every step is accompanied by digitization, computerization, artificial intelligence, mass data, the Internet of Things, machine learning, and robotics. These changes have also affected the reporting process as well as its processes. The processes of data acquisition, processing and sharing have changed. Furthermore, the data quantity has increased, whereas the speed of the time in which to prepare the reports has decreased. We can have data without information, but we cannot have information without data. There is never enough time, especially nowadays when we are used to having everything at our fingertips. These are two conflicting factors – having more data and less time to prepare quality reports. The systems are developed to optimize the process, increase efficiency and quality and, what is nowadays most important, they have been created to obtain mass data in the shortest possible time. Therefore, it is important to adapt and implement software that can help achieve our daily tasks. We must know how to process huge amounts of real-time data and deliver the information they contain. It is crucial for companies to keep up with the environment and implement changes and innovations into their business process. A company is like a living organism for it must constantly evolve and grow. As soon as it stops growing and evolving, it can fail because it starts lagging and is therefore no longer competitive to others. To deliver faster feedback, companies need data of better quality. There are tools that can improve the business process, better facilitating the capacity of the human agents. The goal is to harness the employees’ full potential and knowledge for important tasks, such as analyzing, reviewing, and understanding data and acting upon them, invoking information technology to automate repetitive processes and facilitate better communication. The focus in this master’s thesis is on the reporting process in Group X. Group X is one of the world leaders in the automotive industry, a multinational corporation based in Canada with subsidiaries around the world. The complexity of the business reporting that is implemented for the Headquarters in Canada has to address the complexity of the multinational corporation to support the decision process. The aim of the thesis is to propose a reporting process for preparing and producing reports with a huge amount of data in a very time-efficient manner. We start by examining the existing processes and upon that, identifying the processes required for the reports to reach the final recipients. Our goal is to identify the toolset, which would increase efficiency, accuracy, credibility, and reduce errors in the fastest possible time. We investigate a short-term and a long-term solution. By a short-term solution, we mean a system, program, or a tool that can help us increase our potential by using digital resources, which are already existing in the organization. By a long-term solution, we mean a solution, which requires employment of specialized future tools in the field of reporting and in repetitive processes, which we can identify with current knowledge and expectations for development. This includes machine learning, robotic process automatization, artificial intelligence.
