Electric forklifts with vehicle to grid technology for efficient warehouse energy management
Matjaž Knez, Péter Bajor, 2012, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: From an electric utility perspective, the sun is an intermittent electrical generator, tolerable in huge quantities, but increasingly difficult to manage. The nature of sun is unpredictable, and the Slovenian National Grid has no significant storage opportunities - if the V2G (vehicle-to-grid) solutions could be competitive in the near future it could prepare for special circumstances: the batteries of electrically driven forklifts could provide attractive storage functions for renewable electricity storage and for backupping the electrical national grid. This paper shows the study of the current research findings on the ŽVehicle to Gridʼ innovative concept and a proposed theoretical model of Forklift-to-Grid integration into energy management of a warehouse. Analyses of data, calculations of the economic value and of the profitability of the proposed business model yielded positive results that fully confirm the thesis that the integration of environmentally friendly renewable energy sources and new technologies into the logistic processes can improve logistics management while minimizing the negative impact of business on the environment.

Improving city transport with the objective to reduce CO2 emissions
Marjan Sternad, Matjaž Knez, Bojan Rosi, 2010, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: In the past few years traffic volume is increasing. As a consequence, negative external traffic effects are increasing too, in particular CO2 emissions, which result in global warming and climate changes. CO2 emissions, a by-product of vehicles are much higher in cities due to traffic density. According to European standards, Celje is not a large city; however its traffic poses a great problem that the city authorities will soon be confronted with. This paper focuses on the city centre of Celje, where traffic flow was measured and CO2 emissions calculated. Using alternative solutions the aim was to present impacts on the environment in the municipality of Celje in an event of changed traffic regimes. In order to reach the guidelines of sustainable transport development in the municipality of Celje, in the future, different measures for reducing negative external effects of city transport will have to be put into force, for only this way the quality of city life can be improved and compatibility of environmental, economic and social objectives provided.

High-speed rail and air passenger transport : a comparison of the operational environmental performance
Milan Janić, 2003, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This paper presents an overview of the environmental performance of high-speedrail (HSR) and air passenger transport (APT) in the European Union (EU). This performance embraces the direct environmental burdens/emissions such as energy consumption, air pollution, noise, landtake and land use, safety and congestion. A comparison of the marginal values of particular burdens/emissions and their costs (externalities) is carried out. The results have shown that significant mitigation of the impacts and savings of costs could be achieved by substitution of air passenger transport by high-speed rail. The substitution can be carried out through competition and complementarity of operations of both modes.
