A Multi-criteria decision analysis framework tool for the selection of farm business models on organic mountain farms

Opis: Mountain regions are important producers of organic food. For them, reliable decision making regarding business planning necessitates different critical support methods. KARSIM 1.0 (DSM) is a methodology based on an integrated deterministic simulation system application for decision-making support, consisting of 74 deterministic production simulation models. DSM enables different types of cost and financial feasibility calculations for organic production and food processing. KARSIM 1.0 was used to simulate three specific business alternatives for mountain organic farms. (Alternative 1: spelt grain, fruit cider, wine and brandy, plum brandy, calves meat and sheep-soft cheese production, Alternative 2: spelt flour, pear and apple juice, plum brandy, veal and sheep's milk, Alternative 3: spelt grain, dried fruit, calves, soft and hard sheep cheese). Simulation model results were compared using two multi-objective analysis methods: the analytical hierarchical process (Expert Choice Decision Support System software) and DEX-i method. the results showed the bigest multi-objective decision evaluation for alternative 2 (Expert Choice = 0.361 and DEX-i evaluation = excellent). We can conclude that the combination of a deterministic cost simulation model and multi-criteria decision analysis present an acceptable decision support tool for mountain organic farms; however, further research is desirable.

Modeling of city logistics

Opis: Master thesis has it's fundamentals in the use of theoretical methods for modeling purposes on the case study of city logistics and modeling of traffic flow and transportation problem on the city of Győr, Hungary. In practical part, we made a measurements of traffic flow on street sections in the city of Győr. With Android application, we gathered necessary data. We also prepared maps of the route sections of the city from various entry points to the final, destination point. Purpose of our thesis was finding the optimal solution for the delivery to the city centre with the use of strategic games. Final step was a preparation of mathematical model in Mathematica programming environment, which gave us results, but most important is the development of the model itself. Model is constructed in a way that can be use in various possible situations and on different city centres or case studies.

A Multi-criteria assesment of tourist farm service quality

Opis: Farm tourism is a significant means of supplementing farmer's incomes. This paper presents a methodology for ranking tourist farms by using a multi-criteria model based on the qualitative multi-criteria modeling methodology, DEX, to assess service quality. The software tool DEXi was used to achieve this end. The model was then applied to seven tourist farms with data derived from questionnaires completed by tourist farm operators and guests. The results are shown as service quality assessments for individual farms. The potential of the model for assessing the farms is demonstrated with the aim of providing a comprehensive explantation and justification of the assessment technique. It also indicates potential improvements that farms can make through "what-if" analysis and visualisation. Despite limitations, such as use of qualitative data only, the approach is proposed as being both appropriate and advantageous when compared with other means of ranking enterprises.

Opis: Although the designing of cutting-dies is a complex and experience-based process, it is poorly supported by conventional 3D CAD software. Thus, the majority of design activities, including the (re)modeling of those cutting die-components that are directly responsible for performing shaping operations on a sheet-metal stamping part, traditionally still need to be carried-out repetitively, separately, and manually by the designer. In order to eliminate some of these drawbacks and upgrade the capabilities of conventional 3D CAD software, this paper proposes a new methodology for the development of a parametric system capable of automatically performing a (re)modeling process of compound washer diesć cutting-components. The presented methodology integrates CATIA V5 built-in modules, including Part Design, Assembly Design and Knowledge Advisor, publication mechanism, and compound cutting die-design knowledge. The system developed by this methodology represents an 'intelligent' assembly template composed of two modules 'GAJA1' and 'GAJA2', respectively. 'GAJA1' is responsible for the direct input of the die-design problem regarding the shape, dimensions and material of the stamping part, its extraction in the form of geometric features, and the transferring of relevant design parameters and features to the module 'GAJA2'. 'GAJA2' interprets the current values for the input parameters and automatically performs the modeling process of cutting die-components, using die-design knowledge and the company's internal design and manufacturing standards. Experimental results show that the use of this system significantly shortens the modeling-time for cutting the die-components, improves the modeling-quality, and enables the training of inexperienced designers.

Modeliranje programske kode z Eclipse Modeling Framework

Opis: Eclipse Modeling Framework je modelirno orodje, ki omogoča generiranje javanske programske kode na osnovi vnaprej pripravljenih modelov, ki predstavljajo med seboj smiselno povezane razrede. Predpostavljamo, da lahko z uporabo modelirne platforme in vizualno predstavitvijo programske kode olajšamo razumljivost le-te, saj ljudje veliko lažje razumemo informacije, predstavljene v obliki miselnih vzorcev. V sklopu diplomskega dela smo tako opisali značilnosti orodja Eclipse Modeling Framework, njegove razširitve Graphical Modeling Framework, transformacijskega jezika ATL ter postopek razvoja in transformacije modelov v programsko kodo, na koncu pa smo pridobljeno znanje združili v praktično implementacijo primera.

Numerično modeliranje mešanja v posodi z Rushtonovim mešalom

Opis: Prispevek obravnava numerično modeliranje mešanja newtonske tekočine v mešalni posodi, v kateri je nameščeno turbinsko Rushtonovo mešalo. Obravnavan je ustaljeni turbulentni tokovni rezim, opisan s časovno povprečnim Navier-Stokesovim sistemom enačb. Numerično reševanje temelji na uporabi dvoenačbnega modela turbulence in metode končnih prostornin. Posebna pozornostje namenjena modeliranju vrtenja mešala ter izračunu mehanske moči za mešanje, kakor tudi nekaterim poenostavitvam, ki omogočajo hitrejši izračun zahtevnih diskretnih modelov.

Multi attribute decision model for orchard renewal - case study in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Opis: The fruit production in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIH) is slowly returning to normality after Balkan wars. Due to favorable climatic and soil conditions it presents a clear business opportunity for family farms. The decision which fruit species/variety to grow is a complex decision and should be made on the basis of sound empirical analysis. This paper present a multi criteria model for planning and decision making methodology based on expert system DEX-i. In the first stage the technological and financial cost benefit analysis were conducted for each fruit production alternative. The results were further evaluated with expert system DEX-i considering all possible criteria influencing the fruit grower decision. In the case of a sample family farm the plum yielded with best multi criteria evaluation, followed by apple and pear, while sour cherry gave unsatifactory outcome.

The Decision support system for supplementary activies on organic farms

Opis: In this paper we present the decision support system for ranking food processing projects on organic farms. The system is based on simulation modeling and multi criteria decision analysis. The deterministic simulation system KARSIM EKO 1.0 (DSM) consists out of deterministic production simulation models that enable different types of costs calculations for organic production and on farm food processing in the framework of supplementary activities. Simulation models results were further evaluated using a qualitative multi-attribute modeling methodology, supported by the software tool DEX-i and quantitative analytical hierarchical process - AHP, supported by Expert Choice 2000 TM software. The analysis showed that by using current model input parameter the combination of apple cider, apple vinegar and plum brandy (business alternative 1) results with the best multicriteria evaluation (EC=0,413 and DEX-i evaluation = very good).
