Tourism potentials of selected medieval fortresses in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Ranko Mirić, Nusret Drešković, Boris Avdić, Senada Nezirović, 2017, original scientific article

Abstract: The medieval heritage in the context of cultural and historical tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina is often neglected, but the practice of other European countries shows that this segment of history can be exploited on a very high level. This is primarily related to large objects in the form of fortresses, which generally have a dominant position over the surrounding area. In Bosnia and Herzegovina there are a large number of such forts (over a hundred), which testify to the turbulent medieval past. The fact is also that a large number of such facilities are in an inadequate state, but there are also those who may or already have their tourist function. Within this paper, four examples of medieval forts in Bosnia and Herzegovina - two in the Bosna River valley and two in Northeast Bosnia, from the aspect of their tourism attractiveness and degree of valorization have been analyzed. The methodology in this paper is based on detailed empirical research conducted through very extensive field observation, with the application of combined qualitative and quantitative comparative method of tourism valorization. The particular method used in the paper was based on the application of GIS cartographic models for adequate spatial representation of the study objects.

Thermal regime of annual air temperature in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Nusret Drešković, Ranko Mirić, 2017, original scientific article

Abstract: Horizontal air temperature is defined by the value of the mean air temperature for a certain surface area unit. It is defined by the value of horizontal thermal gradient, i.e. the value of average change of horizontal temperature per unit area. In order to define the horizontal change of air temperature in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a GRID thermal model was constructed whose spatial resolution is 20 m. Based on obtained thermal model geo-database it was determined that the mean annual air temperature for the whole area of Bosnia and Herzegovina is about 10.9 °C, keeping in mind that there are significant thermal differences with respect to the two existing climate zones. More specifically, on the territory of the northern temperate climate zone the average annual temperature is about 9.7 °C, while in the Mediterranean climate zone the said value is 12.1 °C. In this work, it was also found that thermal contrasts are very pronounced as well, due to the fact that average annual temperature in the highest mountain peak zones in southeastern Bosnian highlands is negative and is found to be -1.4 °C (Maglić peak), while at the Neum coastal zone it is measured at 15.9 °C. The above stated pronounced thermal contrasts are determined on a small horizontal distance, as a consequence of climactic position of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as highly pronounced terrain dynamics.

Dejvid Balek, 2017, original scientific article

Onesnaženost zraka z delci PM$_{10}$ v Mariboru, Ljubljani in Kopru v obdobju 2005–2014

Članek analizira letne in dnevne režime delcev PM$_{10}$ v Mariboru, Ljubljani in Kopru v obdobju 2005–2014, interpretira linearni trend koncentracij delcev PM$_{10}$, primerja povprečne vrednosti delcev PM$_{10}$na vseh treh merilnih mestih in analizira primera dnevnih režimov ekstremno visokih koncentracij delcev PM$_{10}$, ki sta ju povzročila ognjemeta in uporaba zasebne pirotehnike.

Geographical reflections of mine pollution in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia
Snježana Musa, Željka Šiljković, Dario Šakić, 2017, original scientific article

Abstract: Numerous landmine fields cause an immense problem for the development of economy in rural areas of the Republic of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Even twenty years after the Homeland War in Croatia, i.e. the same period after signing the Dayton Accord and war cessation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, huge areas are still contaminated with landmines. In Croatia are approximately 1.69 % of contaminated territory agricultural areas in the east part of country, forests and forestry land, i.e. pastures in highlands and the Mediterranean areas are most endangered. Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the most landmine contaminated countries in the world. Severe landmine contamination in Bosnia and Herzegovina has been detected on pasture and forestry land, in the vicinity of the former war zone, in the central part of the country. Out of the total number of 1,366 landmine contaminated settlements in the Bosnia and Herzegovina territory, some 1,169 are rural communities.

Ekološki odtis Mestne občine Maribor
Patricija Tjukajev, 2017, original scientific article

The generation of a swimming pool cadastre for Graz (1945–2015)
Ariane Droin, Wolfgang Sulzer, Matthias Wecht, 2016, original scientific article

Abstract: This paper deals with the generation of a swimming pool cadastre for Graz by means of multitemporal analyses of aerial photographs. Twelve temporal steps between 1944/45 and 2015 are analysed partly by digital image processing and visual mapping. The result shows an enormous increase of private swimming pool between the 1990 (600) and 2015 (5600). The distribution of swimming pools and their different types shows specific patterns, which can be geographically interpreted by social settlement structures.
