Analiza površine vlaken z mikroskopijo atomskih sil (AFM)

Opis: Mikroskopija atomskih sil (ang.: atomic force microscopy AFM) je ena od oblik mikroskopij, ki omogoča opazovanje neprevodnih površin v nanometrskem merilu. Razvila sta jo Nobelova nagrajenca s področja fizike, Binnig in Roher [5, 6]. Od izuma leta 1986 pa do danes je mikroskop atomskih sil postal zelo pomemben inštrument v laboratorijih za fiziko trdnih snovi, kemijskih, polimernih in bioloških laboratorijih, pojavlja pa se tudi že v industriji. Izredno uporaben je na področju tekstilstva, čeprav njegovih zmožnosti na tem področju do sedaj še niso intenzivneje raziskali. Struktura vlaken je zapletena. Večinoma je morfologija površine drugačna od tiste v notranjosti. Oblika površine vlaken vpliva na procese, ki se odvijajo na mejnih površinah. Zato je toliko bolj pomembno uvajanje novih metod na področje analize površinskih lastnosti vlaken. Mikroskop atomskih sil AFM nudi informacije o fibrilni strukturi vlaken, poleg tridimenzionalne analize površine vlaken omogoča tudi merjenje medmolekulskih in medatomskih sil velikostnega reda nekaj nN. V primerjavi z elektronskim mikroskopom je priprava vzorca mnogo enostavnejša. V prispevku je opisan princip delovanja AFM in predstavljeni rezultati analize PAG filamenta. Na površini PA6 monofilamenta je vidna fibrilna struktura. Najmanjši fibrili, ki jih je mogoče razločiti, imajo premer le nekaj 10 nm. Združujejo se v večje fibrilne snope, ki v najširših predelih merijo 1 do 2 μm. Praznine in vdolbine na površini so različno velike (30-200 nm) in so okrogle ali ovalne oblike, usmerjene v smeri osi vlakna. Površina filamenta je v smeri osi vlakna manj razbrazdana; višinska razlika med najnižjimi in najvišjimi področji znaša v prečni smeri do 70 nm, v vzdolžni smeri pa do 30 nm.

Improving the textile's enterprises knowledge matrix

Opis: The textile enterprises need adequate solutions to face the competition on the global market. Innovation leverages the enterprises competitiveness: however, improving innovation is a task of research providers in the field. The Knowledge Matrix for Innovation (KMI) represents an instrument for quantifying the intangible assets of a textile enterprise. Examples of intangible assets are: innovation strategy / culture, informational resources, training methodology, relationships portfolio, IP rights etc. By improving such factors of the KMI, the textile enterprises are going to improve their competitiveness. This main aim is tackled by the Erasmus Plus – VET Project “Matrix of knowledge for innovation and competitiveness in textile enterprises - TexMatrix” (2016-2018). The red line of the project follows the definition of the KMI, the adaptation of the Benchmarking questionnaire and its implementation on the e-learning Tool, the Benchmarking study by consulting of 50 textile enterprises at consortium level, supporting the Guide with new research and innovation management solutions for the enterprises and Blended courses for 95 young trainees, based on the Guide in e-learning format. The project also aims to counsel 100 decision-factors from textile enterprises on the new solutions comprised in the Guide, within 5 Workshops. X-ray absorption spectroscopy and related techniques

Opis: In the extensive field of X-ray diagnostic techniques, nowadays mostly implemented on synchrotron X-ray sources, the X-ray absorption methods offer a relatively simple tool for structural analysis of materials. The advantage of the methods is the sensitivity to chemical species and the insensitivity to the long-range order. An overview of various detection techniques is given together with the discussion of accuracy of the method with regard to the spatial resolution and the possible contamination by intra-atomic contributions, the multielectron photoexcitations.

Specific EXAFS tools in analysis of MoSI nanowires

Opis: The structure of nanowires prepared by vapor synthesis from Mo, S and I is investigated by methods of x-ray diffraction (XRD) and extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS). Starting with a qualitative model of the structure from XRD, the metrics is introduced with interatomic distances determined from EXAFS. Two specific tools to increase the resolution of EXAFS method are discussed: the reciprocity relation between data from adjacent target atoms, and difference EXAFS from data on samples with small changes in stoichiometry.

Application of semantic technology for calculation of welding time in the development of new products

Opis: Determining the time of execution is very important in the early stages of each project (e.g. making offers, design phase etc.), especially in the stage of planning. This paper presents our approach to estimating the welding time for the purposes of planning the manufacturing processes. The approach is based on the knowledge of welding experts from the Nieros metal d.o.o. company and standards of welding (international and internal). An expert system was developed based on semantic web technologies for calculating the welding time in the product design phase and it is strongly integrated with the main ERP system of the Nieros metal d.o.o. company. Test results are presented at the end of this article.

High-resolution X-ray absorption spectrometry of atomic vapors

Opis: A measurement of an x-ray absorption spectrum of a monatomic sample yields pure atomic absorption essential for the EXAFS (Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure) analysis in cases of a weak structural signal. A construction of an absorption cell to contain vapor sample takes into account specific properties of the investigated element. Metal-vapor absorption cells for the elements K, Zn, Rb, Cd, Cs, and Hg are presented and comments are made on the use of materials and the operating mechanisms of the cells.

EXAFS and IR analysis of electrochromic $NiO_x$/$NiO_xH_y$ thin films

Opis: Electrochromic (EC) thin films of $NiO_x$ and $NiO_xH_y$ are prepared by sol-gel method from nickel chloride precursor and deposited onto a suitable substrate by dip-coating technique. The development of the structure with thermal treatment is investigated by EXAFS and IR spectroscopy in two series of films, with high and low concentration of chloride as counter ions. In the former, the predominant structure before thermal treatment is nickel hydroxide. The baking induces condensation, yet with no trace of NiO. In the latter group, colloidal particles are indicated, on which acetate groups are adsorbed or coordinated. At the maximum EC-response the formation of NiO grains is established by EXAFS and IR.

A multiscale approach to deformation and fracture of heat-resistant steel under static and cyclic loading

Opis: Regularities of static and cyclic deformation, damage and fracture of heat-resistant steel 25Kh1M1F, based on the approaches of physical mesomechanics and 3D interferometry method, are presented in this paper. The applicability of these techniques for different hierarchy levels of deformation was studied. The investigation of scanning microscope photos was conducted for several dissipative structures, fragmentation of the material, localisation of macrodeformation and subsequent failure on macro- and mesolevel. It is shown that the used modern techniques of experimental analysis are very efficient in understanding deformation and damage evolution in materials.

Altered Wiener indices

Opis: Recently Nikolić, Trinajstić and Randić put forward a novel modification ▫$^mW(G)$▫ of the Wiener number ▫$W(G)$▫, called modified Wiener index, which definition was generalized later by Gutman and the present authors. Here we study another class of modified indices defined as ▫$W_{min,λ}(G) = ∑(V(G)^λm_G(u,ν)^λ−m_G(u,ν)^{2λ})$▫ and show that some of the important properties of ▫$W(G)$▫, ▫$^mW(G)$▫ and ▫$^λW(G)$▫ are also properties of ▫$W_{min,λ}(G)$▫, valid for most values of the parameter λ. In particular, if ▫$T_n$▫ is any n-vertex tree, different from the n-vertex path ▫$P_n$▫ and the n-vertex star ▫$S_n$▫, then for any λ ≥ 1 or λ < 0, ▫$^W_{min,λ}(P_n) > W_{min,λ}(T_n)>W_{min,λ}(S_n)$▫. Thus for these values of the parameter λ, ▫$W_{min,λ}(G)$▫ provides a novel class of structure-descriptors, suitable for modeling branching-dependent properties of organic compounds, applicable in QSPR and QSAR studies. We also demonstrate that if trees are ordered with regard to ▫$W_{min,λ}(G)$▫ then, in the general case, this ordering is different for different λ.
