1. Thermal, mechanical, and microstructural properties of novel light expanded clay aggregate (LECA)-based geopolymer concretesTinkara Marija Podnar, Gregor Kravanja, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The construction sector’s reliance on traditional cement significantly contributes to CO2 emissions, underscoring the urgent need for sustainable alternatives. This study investigates fine (0–4 mm), rounded, uncoated, porous-surfaced lightweight expanded clay aggregate (LECA)-based geopolymers, which combine the low-carbon benefits of geopolymers with LECA’s lightweight and insulating properties. Geopolymers were synthesized using lignite-rich fly ash with varying ratios of LECA to aggregate. Mechanical testing revealed that the reference mixture without LECA (REF-GEO) achieved the highest compressive strength of 37.89 ± 0.75 MPa and flexural strength of 7.62 ± 0.11 MPa, while complete substitution of the aggregate with LECA (LECA-100%) reduced the compressive strength to 17.31 ± 0.88 MPa and flexural strength to 3.41 ± 0.11 MPa. The density of the samples decreased from 2.06 g/cm3 for REF-GEO to 1.31 g/cm3 for LECA-100%, and thermal conductivity dropped significantly from 1.15 ± 0.07 W/mK to 0.38 ± 0.01 W/mK. Microstructural analysis using XRD and SEM-EDX highlighted changes in the material’s internal structure and the increase in porosity with higher LECA content. Water vapor permeability increases over time, particularly in samples with higher LECA content. These findings suggest that LECA-based geopolymers are suitable for low-load or non-structural elements. They are ideal for sustainable, energy-efficient construction that requires lightweight, insulating, and breathable materials. 2. Problemi in priložnosti urejanja podeželskega prostora na primeru naselja Lepa Njiva v občini MozirjeKatja Goličnik, 2025, diplomsko delo Opis: Diplomska naloga raziskuje izzive in potenciale za razvoj podeželskih območij s poudarkom na konkretnem primeru naselja Lepa Njiva v občini Mozirje. Osrednji del naloge raziskuje možnosti razvoja podeželja preko prostorskega načrtovanja. Predstavljeni so definicija podeželja, zgodovinski razvoj in zdajšnje stanje kraja. V nalogi so analizirani dejavniki, ki vplivajo na razvoj podeželskih območij, kot so kmetijstvo, gozdarstvo, upravljanje voda, varstvo okolja, kulturna dediščina, infrastruktura, turizem in družbene dejavnosti. Izdelana je SWOT analiza razvojnih potencialov v okolici naselja Lepa Njiva. Podrobna študija primera naselja Lepa Njiva ponuja vpogled v specifične izzive in priložnosti lokalne skupnosti. Različni vidiki, kot so kmetijstvo, gozdarstvo, reliefa, podnebje, hidrologija, vegetacija, varstvo okolja, kulturna dediščina, naseljevanje, infrastruktura, turizem in družbene dejavnosti, so natančno analizirani. Zaključek povzema ugotovitve, poudarjajoč kompleksnost razvoja podeželja in potrebo po celostnem pristopu. Predlagane so smernice za prilagoditve politik, praktične rešitve in dolgoročne strategije za spodbujanje trajnostnega razvoja v naselju Lepa Njiva in podobnih podeželskih naseljih. 3. Flexible assignment of loading bays for efficient vehicle routing in urban last mile deliveryTomislav Letnik, Matej Mencinger, Iztok Peruš, 2020, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Urban freight deliveries are often subject to many access restrictions which creates the need to establish a system of loading bays and to split the last mile delivery into driving and walking parts. A new model based on hard and soft clustering approach is developed to solve the loading bay assignment problem for efficient vehicle routing and walking in last mile delivery. The flexibility of the model is provided by the soft clustering approach based on different membership degrees of customers to loading bays. Especially for instances with large numbers of loading bays, soft clustering seems to give better results, it leads to higher flexibility of city logistics systems, minimal driving distances, and adequately short walking paths, which contribute to the goal of reaching sustainable urban freight deliveries. 4. Development of Methodology for Estimation of Energy-Efficient Building Renovation Using Application of MINLP-Optimized Timber–Glass Upgrade ModulesMaja Lešnik Nedelko, Stojan Kravanja, Miroslav Premrov, Vesna Žegarac Leskovar, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Vertical addition to already-existing structures is an approach to energy-efficient building renovation. It presents an opportunity for the densification of built-up areas and the construction of new usable spaces. While many studies have dealt with the subject of renovating buildings with a focus on energy efficiency, far fewer studies have specifically examined the potential of vertically extending existing buildings, an approach which could be introduced in new sustainable building policies. The objective of this study is to redevelop optimal timber–glass upgrade modules, considering the ideal proportions of glazing for all cardinal directions, by using discrete Mixed-Integer Non-Linear Programming optimization. The novelty of the suggested method resides in the synchronous optimization of the upgrade modules’ daylighting and energy-efficiency performance, resulting in the creation of optimization methods that can determine the optimal glazing proportions for all cardinal directions and incorporate rational design and window measurement. The impact of the developed Mixed-Integer Non-Linear Programming-optimized upgrade modules is compared to previously designed optimized upgrade modules. Finally, a methodology for estimating the energy efficiency of building renovations incorporating vertical additions using the timber–glass upgrade modules was developed, supporting the quick assessment of the reduction in hybrid buildings’ energy consumption for heating and cooling according to boundary conditions, presuming that they undergo the suggested renovations. The findings are applicable (not exclusively) to Slovenia’s residential building stock, which makes up around 20% of the country’s current housing stock and was mainly constructed between 1946 and 1970. This offers a substantial opportunity to improve the overall sustainability and energy efficiency of the country’s housing stock. The proposed approach offers a holistic solution to drive sustainable development in the built environment by incorporating all three pillars of sustainability (environmental, social, and economic). 5. Varaždin: športno - rekreacijsko območje ob južni vpadniciDorian Margetić, 2024, magistrsko delo Opis: Urbana regeneracija območja južne vpadnice v Varaždinu je projekt, ki cilja na revitalizacijo nekdanjega industrijskega območja in njegovo preobrazbo v sodoben mestni prostor. Izpostavljene so aktualne potrebe lokacije po trajnostnem urbanem razvoju, z namenom povezovanja zgodovinskih, družbenih in gospodarskih elementov območja. Osrednji cilj magistrskega dela je prenoviti degradirano območje v dinamičen prostor, ki bo združeval poslovne, javne in rekreativne vsebine. S tem naj bi se okrepila urbana identiteta mesta, izboljšala kakovost okolja in spodbudil gospodarski razvoj. Projekt vključuje vzpostavitev javnih prostorov, povezavo in dopolnitev obstoječih stavb in programa ter gradnjo novih objektov, pri čemer se ohranjajo elementi industrijske dediščine kot pomemben del lokalne zgodovine. Poudarek je na trajnostnih rešitvah, kot so energetska učinkovitost, zelena infrastruktura in zmanjševanje ogljičnega odtisa. Projekt predstavlja ključno priložnost za preobrazbo južne vpadnice v sodoben mestni kvart, ki bo privlačen tako za prebivalce kot za obiskovalce. Vključuje tudi širšo vizijo urbanega razvoja Varaždina, kjer bo območje južne vpadnice postalo pomemben kulturni in gospodarski center, ozko povezan z centrom in drugimi deli mesta. 6. Biofilična arhitektura: zasnova centra za fizikalno medicino in rehabilitacijoKristina Turk, 2024, magistrsko delo Opis: Magistrsko delo podaja idejno rešitev za zasnovo centra za fizikalno medicino in rehabilitacijo, temeljenega na biofilični arhitekturi. Zasnova centra temelji na detajlni raziskavi in preučevanju literature ter ponuja premislek o možnostih tovrstnega oblikovanja in programa.
Skozi raziskave biofilije, biofiličnega oblikovanja, biofiličnih elemetov in referenc, razvijamo in ustvarjamo idejo o oblikovanju in delovanju novega centra. Povezava biofilije in tovrstnega programa, ponuja in odpira možnost oblikovanja funkcionalnega objekta. Zasnova programa, temelji na pravilnikih in referenc že izvedenih centrov, na področju Medžimurske županije in Evrope.
Na podlagi analiz širšega in ožjega območja, je izbrana lokacija za postavitev novega centra za fizikalno medicino in rehabilitacijo, ki omogoča povezavo z okolico in obstoječim kompleksom. Konceptulna rešitev izhaja iz prostora in prostorskih omejitev. Center je zasnovan kot povezava žive narave in grajenega okolja, kar omogoča zasnovo ugodnega bivalnega okolja, bivanje v neokrnjeni naravi v času okrevanja, hkrati pa pripomaga k programski pestrosti območja. Architecture and nature: Eco center in MeđimurjeAna Marija Oreški, 2024, magistrsko delo Opis: Namen magistrske naloge je zasnova turističnega eko kompleksa v vasi Gornji Mihaljevec, ki se nahaja v Međimurju na Hrvaškem. Privlačna lokacija je v kultiviranem naravnem okolju z vinogradom na vrhu hriba in nudi čudovite razglede proti slovenskemu hribovju, Ivanščici in nižjemu predelu Međimurja. Programska zasnova uporabnikom omogoča pobeg v naravo brez motenj današnjega hitrega načina življenja. 8. Event square and multipurpose center with library in the city of StrugaJeta Ajdari, 2024, magistrsko delo Opis: This thesis addresses the redevelopment of a centrally located site in Struga, currently occupied by a large, unadorned parking lot devoid of greenery. Surrounded by key state institutions, including the Health Insurance Office, Municipal Archives, and the Main Post Office, as well as public amenities, such as restaurants and pharmacies, the site offers a unique opportunity for urban revitalization.Until 2016, this location served as the central square of Struga. Following the restoration of the "Monument of Revolution," it was expected that the area would be transformed into a modern, attractive space for local residents. However, contrary to these expectations, it has since been repurposed as a parking lot. This project envisions reclaiming the site as a multifunctional space that serves as a cultural hub and social gathering point for both residents and visitors.Struga, situated on the shores of Lake Ohrid in the Republic of North Macedonia, has a population of approximately 50,000 and is a popular summer tourist destination. Despite this, the city faces a deficit of social gathering places and environments conducive to student collaboration and study. The existing city library, with its outdated facilities and limited collection of 8,000 books, fails to meet modern standards. Furthermore, Struga’s renowned Poetry Nights festival underscores the lack of dedicated public spaces for cultural events, highlighting the need for proper outdoor venues. The absence of adequate library resources and diverse social spaces for various age groups further exacerbates these challenges.This project proposes a comprehensive solution by transforming the parking lot into a multifaceted community facility. The envisioned development includes an open square for events, a gallery and exhibition hall, an innovative city library, study areas, communal spaces, green zones, and a children’s playground. Outdoor reading areas and organized play activities will be integrated into the design, promoting relaxation and leisure within an inviting, green environment.By combining diverse indoor and outdoor programs, the project seeks to foster social interaction across all age groups, enhancing community cohesion. This multi-generational event center and library will become a landmark for Struga, enriching the city’s cultural, recreational, and educational landscape while significantly improving the quality of life for its residents. Revitalizacija stavbnega otoka na Studencih v MariboruAna Židanik, Uroš Lobnik, 2024, magistrsko delo Opis: Naloga je predlog revitalizacije propadlega območja v evropskem mestu na primeru industrijske cone Studenci v Mariboru. Želja je tvoriti kvalitetno okolje za delovanje človeka, mu omogočiti prijetno bivanje in delo, oblikovati veliko površin za rekreacijo in miselno stimulacijo, skrajšati vsakodnevne poti, upoštevati naravo in okolje ter izhodišča za trajnostni razvoj.
Osnove pri oblikovanju projekta so: širjenje goste pozidave centra mesta proti periferiji, vnos centralnih dejavnosti zaradi decentralizacije, mestotvorno oblikovanje, ki se ujame z obstoječo mestno strukturo, ohramba zaznanih kvalitet in njihova nadgradnja ter integracija v zasnovo. 10. Arhitekturna in urbanistična ureditev ob stolpu Kristal v Rogaški SlatiniMatej Jugovar, 2024, magistrsko delo Opis: Magistrsko delo obravnava problem propadanja degradiranega
območja starega mizarstva ob stolpu Kristal.
Na podlagi analiz je izdelana idejna zasnova novega kompleksa objektov,
ki zavzema hotel, wellness in medgeneracijski center. Zasnova povezuje
zdraviliški del mesta z vznožjem Tržaškega hriba, ki ima potencial za
nadaljni razvoj. Medgeneracijski center je preko nadhoda Sonce povezan
z obstoječim domom za starejše občane in z svojim programom ter
prostori omogoča socialno interakcijo med različnimi generacijami. Ločen
hotelski del in wellness hrati nudita zasebnost hotelskim gostom. Območje
