The impact of the acquisition of the letters in a systematic literacy on writing skills

Opis: Learning letters is associated with a long-term learning. Two basic models are present in obtaining letters in a systematic literacy in Slovenia and abroad. One represents a separate acquisition of the uppercase and lowercase printed letters (sequentially) and the other deals with letters simultaneously. In practice, teachers often asked themselves, especially in times of reforms in literacy, which model of the acquisition of the letters in initial literacy is more efficient. The research focused on the effect of the two most frequently chosen procedures for acquiring letters of structured literacy in Slovenia, namely the simultaneous treatment of the uppercase and lowercase printed letters (lowercase cursive letters and upper-case cursive letters) and consecutive treatment of letters (uppercase printed letters, lowercase printed letters, lowercase cursive letters, and at last, uppercase printed letters). Furthermore, the focus of the research was on the impact of gender on the ability to write. The incidence of errors was observed in terms of selected procedures for acquiring the letters in groups and gender. At the same time, the effect of consolidation of writing individual letters (uppercase and lowercase printed letters in 2nd class, and lowercase and uppercase cursive letters in 3rd class), was examined.

The impact of reception literature on reading competence in children with mild mental retardation

Opis: The study investigated the impact of children's literature reception on literacy at children with mild mental retardation in the process designed on the adapted receptive model of children's literature didactics. An experiment of a one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted on the sample of seven children with mild mental retardation. In the period of one semester their literacy program was supported with children's literature education according to the adapted model of receptive children's literature didactics. After that, their reading competence was tested with the Assessment scheme of reading competence (Pečjak at. al., 2011), which was focused on two dimensions of the reading process: reading comprehension and the quantitative and qualitative data of students' reading performance. Among the last one a) reading speed was measured, b) reading rhythm was observed, c) reading mistakes were counted and classified, d) reading accurateness was observed and e) reading expression was measured. The results show the positive impact of the adapted model of receptive children's literature didactics on students' reading competence - the reading speed, the reading rhythm the accurateness of reading performance and the reading expression improved and the number of reading mistakes decreased.

The effectiveness of distanced e-learning in teachers' education

Opis: In the last two decades a remarkable shift from conventional forms of teaching toward e-learning happened on all levels of education. This shift included also teachers’ permanent, lifelong education. The purpose of the study was to find and compare the effectiveness of conventional workshop and an e-learning module in teachers’ lifelong/permanent professional training. A study included 30 mother tongue teachers. The aim of the teachers training course curriculum was focused in their competence for developing students’/reader’s reception metacognition (RRM), a competence which is a prerequisite for differentiation/individualization in the process of implementation of literature curriculum in the frame of mother tongue education. Pre-intervention and post-intervention teaching practice of both groups of teachers were observed and compared to find out, which form of lifelong education influenced participants’ teaching practice in a more effective way. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of data, gained in e-module and compared with those, gained in the traditional workshop education, shows a significantly bigger effect of education on the case study participants teaching practice for the group of teachers, which participated in traditional educational form – a workshop.

Slovene teachers' attitudes of arts and cultural education in primary school

Opis: Primary school teachers (342 in total) from all over Slovenia were questioned on their attitude towards arts and cultural education. The results of the study show that the teachers were most unanimous in regard to the importance of team planning in educational work in the field of the arts and the importance of cultural education for the life of an individual and society; this was followed by measures for raising the quality of arts and cultural education in primary school and the content of teacher training programs. Statistically significant differences in the teachers’ attitudes occurred with respect to their age and teaching position (class teacher and subject teacher). Unlike their younger colleagues and subject teachers, older teachers and class teachers expressed a more positive view of arts and cultural education.

Neuroscience, world wide web and reading curriculum

Opis: Neuroscience has proved a malleable nature of our brain. The way of thinking is changing lifelong and not only in early childhood. New media as television, video games, and the Internet change students' cognitive skills. New visual-spatial skills, such as iconic representation and spatial visualization are developed. But parallel to these changes new weaknesses occur. Those are in higher-order cognitive processes, as abstract vocabulary, mindfulness, reflection, inductive problem solving, critical thinking, and imagination (Greefield, 2009). Those are the reasons why reading curriculum in contemporary educational system should focus on two groups of aims: deep online reading and linear literature reading. By deep reading is meant the sophisticated processes that propel comprehension and that include inferential and deductive reasoning, analogical skills, critical analysis, reflection, and insight. By linear literature reading is meant primarily reading of fiction, which develops the imagination, inductive analysis, critical and abstract thinking.

Children's literature, teachers and integrative education

Opis: The paper represents the results of a quantitative research performed at the Faculty of Education, University of Maribor. The aim of the project was to establish the implementation of the concept of integrative education, which was recommended for the first triennium of elementary education in Slovenia in the 90s. The essence of Slovene integration concept should be the following: focusing on the structure and the process of child's assimilation as well as accommodation in/of the structure, his/her ability to communicate the content of the structure and his/her ability to express the process of changing the structure. Our results show that the majority of teachers follow the recommended curriculum guidelines for integration as the main didactical concept for teaching in the first triennium of elementary school taught as a part of the compulsory Teacher training program - teaching in the first triennium. Nevertheless a big proportion of elementary school teachers (year 1-3) are not entirely aware of the criteria that should be used for integration in the educational process. The same elementary school teachers have difficulties (aware or unaware) with the process of planning and performing the integration concept in the classroom.

Odziv otrok v različnih starostnih skupinah glede na vrste plesnih dejavnosti

Opis: Ples je področje, ki je pomembno za otrokov celostni razvoj. Poznamo več vrst plesnih dejavnosti, s katerimi si otrok pridobi določene sposobnosti, spretnosti ter znanja. V teoretičnem delu diplomske naloge smo se osredotočili na plesno vzgojo in njene značilnosti ter vpliv plesa na razvoj otroka. Podrobneje smo predstavili načrtovanje plesnih dejavnosti, cilje, oblike in metode plesne vzgoje. Poglavje smo zaključili z načeli ter analizo vzgojnega dela. V zadnjem delu teoretičnega dela smo opisali vrste plesnih dejavnosti, ples in ponazarjanje, rajalno-gibalne plesne igre, plesno dramatizacijo in didaktične igre. V empiričnem delu govorimo predvsem o primerjavi v odzivu med mlajšimi in starejšimi otroki na različne vrste plesnih dejavnosti. Raziskava je potekala v dveh skupinah, starih od 3 do 4 let in od 5 do 6 let. V sklopu enega meseca smo izvajali različne plesne dejavnosti. Empirični del vključuje deset plesnih priprav, od tega pet rajalno-gibalnih plesnih iger, dve pripravi plesnega ponazarjanja, dve didaktični igri ter plesno dramatizacijo. Ugotovili smo, da obstajajo razlike v motiviranosti za izvajanje dejavnosti, v udeležbi ter uspešnosti pri doseganju ciljev.

Fantazija za komorni ansambel Ivana Pučnika: Živim z zemljo

Opis: V zaključnem delu je uvodoma osvetljena politična slika in kulturno življenje na slovenskih tleh pred prvo svetovno vojno in med obema vojnama. Sledi oris glasbenega sloga moderne v evropskem in slovenskem glasbenem prostoru. Kasneje se obravnava glasbeni ekspresionizem v evropskem merilu in kot njegovi vzporednici še v slovenskem. Obravnava se začetnika ekspresionizma na Slovenskem, Marija Kogoja, in Slavka Osterca kot drugo osrednjo osebnost glasbenega ekspresionizma na naših tleh. Preide se na Aloisa Hábo in mlade slovenske skladatelje, ki so Ostercu sledili na praški konservatorij, na katerem je Hába poučeval. Spregovori se o Steinerjevem antropozofskem nazoru, kateremu so idejno pripadali Hába in med drugimi tudi mlada slovenska trojica skladateljev – Franc Šturm, Demetrij Žebre in Ivan Pučnik, ki so se želeli povezati v »grupo treh« in se tako ločiti od Osterca, ki je veljal za steber slovenske avantgarde tridesetih let. Naposled se preide na Ivana Pučnika in predstavi njegov življenjepis iz osebnega arhiva skladateljeve hčerke, gospe Ajše Pučnik. Podrobneje je obravnavano njegovo kratko, a plodovito glasbeno obdobje med letoma 1934 in 1937. Gre za praško obdobje študija kompozicije, najprej privatno in nato na praškem konservatoriju pri Hábi. Predstavi se glasbena analiza zaenkrat edine najdene in ohranjene skladbe Ivana Pučnika z naslovom Živim z zemljo. Gre za fantazijo za komorni ansambel iz leta 1936. Z analizo Pučnikove kompozicije se poskuša opredeliti njegov glasbeni slog.

Vpliv glasbene terapije na odrasle osebe z motnjami v duševnem razvoju

Opis: Namen pričujočega magistrskega dela je bil proučiti, ali strukturirane delavnice glasbene terapije pozitivno vplivajo na odrasle z motnjami v duševnem razvoju na različnih področjih, in sicer na njihovo: verbalno in neverbalno komunikacijo, ustvarjalnost in domišljijo, urjenje socialnih spretnosti, samopodobo udeleženih, ritem in skupinsko dinamiko ter počutje. Pri tem magistrskem delu je bilo uporabljeno kvalitativno raziskovanje, in sicer multipla študija primera. Podatke smo pridobili s pomočjo sistematičnega opazovanja, dnevniških zapisov, introspektivnega poročila iz terapevtskega dnevnika (Knoll, Knoll, 2009), analize skupine po EBL metodi (Rutten - Saris, 1992 povz. po Bižal, 2016, str. 54), intervjujev s klienti pred in po srečanjih in intervjuja s strokovnim delavcem Varstveno delovnega centra Muta. Izvedeno je bilo deset strukturiranih delavnic glasbene terapije v časovnem razmiku treh mesecev s petimi odraslimi uporabniki, ki imajo zmerno motnjo v duševnem razvoju. Rezultati raziskave so pokazali, da so strukturirane delavnice glasbene terapije pozitivno vplivale na vključene uporabnike v to raziskavo na vseh raziskovanih področjih. Še posebej se je videl napredek pri izboljšanju njihovega počutja, urjenju nekaterih socialnih spretnosti ter izboljšanju ritma in skupinske dinamike. Nekoliko manjši napredek pa je bil viden pri izboljšanju njihove verbalne in neverbalne komunikacije.

Open educational resources in e-learning

Opis: Open educational resources in e-learning are the future source of information for lifelong learners. Open source and open standards are defined as the basis of the "Open educational resource movement" that is beginning to form on a global level in the last decade. The characteristics of the OS are investigated in the relation to e-Learning, existing and new pedagogical principles and copyright issues. Several good practices, ideas and existing initiatives are presented and the vision of the future of open educational resources is introduced.
