Opis: Modern textile and clothing manufacturers can today use the entire range of conventional CAD/CAM systems together with new computer graphics and Internet-based technologies in order to strengthen their position on the market, building a completely new electronic-business offer. Graphical presentation of textile products and processing, or visualisation, presents a promising technology that can be treated as a potential enrichment of conventional computer aided technologies used today by the majority of advanced producers of textile fabrics, clothing, and other textile products. The article presents the results of research on designing computer software for visualising the fabric dyeing process. The program package produced enables the effective visualisation of two fabric dyeing processes: a Pad-Batch machine line for dyeing flat textiles in open-width state, and an HT overflow dyeing machine for fabric dyeing in rope form. Graphical applications of both dyeing processes can be used for both industrial and educational purposes. In this article, we focus more on presenting the program structure and functionalities for using the software to support the education of textile students.

Opis: V članku je predstavljen algoritem za senčenje prostorskih podatkov, ki je zaradi svoje enostavnosti in hitrosti primeren tudi za uporabo na osebnem računalniku. Množice podatkov, ki jih je zmožen vizualizirati, so dovolj velike za učinkovito rabo v medicinskih aplikacijah. Algoritem temelji na sekundarnem geometrijskem modelu, ki smo ga poimenovali seznam vidnih vokslov. Vizualizacijo poskuša pospešiti s predhodnim izločanjem vokslov, nezanimivih za uporabnika. Ti tako imenovani beli voksli predstavljajo zrak, notranjost objektov in dele površja objektov, ki niso vidni iz trenutnega položaja opazovalca. Delovanje in učinkovitost algoritma smo predstavili na nekaj praktičnih primerih uporabe pri vizualizaciji medicinskih podatkov.

COMPARISON OF MYSQL, NEO4J AND APACHE HIVE DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMSMatjaž Moser

Opis: In this work a comparison of three different database management systems (DBMS) is presented. In general a relational data model with a graph data model is compared. The three systems used are MySQL, Neo4j and Apache Hive. Neo4j is a member of the NoSQL database family and is a well-known graph database. The relational databases used in this work are MySQL and Apache Hive. The latter is not a classic relational model but since it is modelled as such it can be considered relational. MySQL is a well-known solution that has been on the market for several years now and is a standard solution for many data problems.
Within this work a detailed comparison of all three systems from different aspects of usage is made, both from our own experience as well as from preliminary research from other authors and sources. Additionally some practical information from our dataset with some simple mining techniques is extracted and the result of our work is visualised in an interactive web side using modern approaches to data visualisation.

MEDITATION IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSROOMTjaša Pegan

Opis: The practical action research study in this diploma thesis, Meditation in the English Language Classroom, was performed as a mini-experiment which was initially set up to explore meditation and assess its potential and use in education. Regarding English as a foreign language, language learning combined visual and auditory information, and it was based on visual and verbal memory. One of the objectives in the theoretical part was to find a ‘universal formula’ which could help bring meditation closer to a classroom setting. Among available techniques, we chose mindfulness meditation for its simplicity. In addition to having this exercise included in the lesson, the participants received the element of visualisation, which is often found in meditation traditions. Guided visualisation or the so called guided mental imagery was presented as a vocabulary learning strategy in the form of multisensory interactive story including multiple intelligences and mindfulness aspects – the pupils had to pay attention to what the teacher was saying. They were supposed to self-generate the pictures in their minds to repeat new vocabulary items or simply listen to the story with their eyes closed. The main purpose of using mindfulness was to create a more harmonious classroom atmosphere and better concentration by helping the participants become more centred by directing their attention inwardly. The main purpose of using visualisation was to remember words by giving them a mental image. We presented lesson plans from the study performed by two volunteering teachers. In total, 8 classes with 114 pupils were included in this mini research. Results are not so clear-cut and promising, mainly due to limitations. Teachers need more training, better school organisation and curriculum for the practices to be seriously implemented in education.
