Organizational culture in service sector
Irena Gorenak, 2015, znanstvena monografija

Opis: In every organization various modes of behaviour of the employees, their various activities, interpersonal relationships and customs can be observed. In some organizations the employees are all on first-namebasis, still in others they address themselves formally. In some organizations the employees use academic titles and surnames; still in others they call themselves by names, only. In some organizations each employee has its own office, whereas in others they are all use one office, which may be separated by improvised walls. In some organizations the employees celebrate personal holidays together, whereas in others they do not. In some organizations they pose each other obstacles and obstruct each other’s work, but in others no such misconduct can be detected. Differences may also be observed within one single organization. Differences are even greater and more noticeable in cases of organizations from other environments, neighbouring countries or even from other continents. In the business world the differences are present, they should be recognized, and the existing diversity should be tolerated; however, this is not enough; diversity should also be understood and made use of to the benefit of everybody. Significant behaviour of the group of people within an organization, or at its work, in a country or a state is described by the term of culture, which can simply be defined as: “This is the way we operate, act, aim at. This is the way we work …”. It is a question of the mode of behaviour of people within an organization, among themselves and towards others, of their customs and habits, and of all the characteristics of behaviour in an organization in a wider sense. Culture is an organizational factor, directly linked to all the other elements of the organization, its environment and every individual. Every activity, change or behaviour is reflected also on the culture and vice versa, every change of culture triggers the changes in every other area of organization. For this reason it is important to manage the culture, as this is beneficial for the organization as a whole and every individual, in particular.

A conceptual model of the relationship between personal values and personal tax culture regarding the perception of tax system fairness
Aleksandra Vehovar, Damijan Mumel, Lidija Hauptman, 2018, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between personal values and personal tax culture regarding the perception of a tax system’s fairness. The paper deals with the main theoretical starting points of the fundamental cornerstones of the general tax culture such as tax evasion, tax compliance and tax system. Based on findings in Schwartz's model of personal values, the paper discusses some of individual personal values, categorized into ten groups within a two-dimensional circular design, along two bipolar dimensions. Because this field of research is largely unexplored and based on the previous theoretical research, a conceptual model for analysing this relationship was developed.

Knowledge-cum-values management belongs to the way out from global crisis
Zdenka Ženko, Matjaž Mulej, Vojko Potočan, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Background: The contemporary world-wide socio-economic crisis tends to escalate and contribute to the global crisis. Limitation of education to one-sided ‘knowledge management’ rather than socially responsible ‘knowledge-cum-values-management’ is one of the crisis’s causes. Objectives: The limitations to current knowledge management should be analyzed with systemic thinking. Which values are prevailing in it now and which values will enable the survival of humankind? Methods/Approach: In the first part, literature is reviewed for analysis and conceptual generalization of knowledge management. The theoretical framework based on ‘system theory’, ‘knowledge management’ and ‘knowledge-cum-values management’, and ‘values of social responsibility’ is introduced. In the second part a new theoretical concept “A potential methodological support for human transition from one-sided to requisitely holistic behavior via social responsibility” is discussed. Results: Knowledge management is a too narrow concept, it tends to leave aside human values, an impact on the natural environment, and extremely growing differences. Humankind needs consideration of responsibility, interdependence and holism in order to minimize detrimental impact of individual behaviour on society, i.e. humans and nature. Conclusions: The research indicates that individuals should attain more requisite holism, and should not be irrational by trying to attain only rationalism in human decision-making and action.

Ethics in public administration
Zlatko Nedelko, Vojko Potočan, 2013, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The main purpose of this paper is to examine how employeesʼ personal ethics, expressed through their personal values and attitudes toward social and environmental issues, are associated with the ethics of organizations in public administration. The authors introduce their own theoretical model that examines the relations between employeesʼ personal ethics - expressed through employeesʼ personal values and attitudes toward natural and social environments - and the ethics of public administration. The reported study examined these relations and tested a proposed model based on the answers of 212 employees from public administration organizations in Slovenia. Employeesʼ attitudes toward natural and social environments and the ethics of their organizations were measured using a questionnaire designed to measure aspects of ethics whereas personal values were measured using the Schwartz value survey. The results demonstrated that employeesʼ self-enhancing values significantly influence their attitudes toward the natural environment. Employeesʼ self-transcendence and self-enhancement values significantly influence their attitudes toward the social environment and the ethics of organizations. In addition, research results about the mediation effect of employeesʼ attitudes toward natural and social environments on the association between the employeesʼ personal values and their perception of the ethics of public administration organizations reveals that employeesʼ social attitudes have a significant impact on the ethics of public administration while the impact of self-transcending and self-enhancing values becomes insignificant. Based on results of testing our model we can conclude that the employeeʼs attitudes toward to the social environment represent a significantly more powerful predictor of ethics in public administration organizations than the employeesʼ personal values. These results present a solid basis for further theoretical and practical advancement of public administration ethics.

Innovation of enterprise vision toward social responsibility
Tjaša Štrukelj, Matjaž Mulej, Simona Sternad Zabukovšek, 2012, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: Businesses need new bases and methods taking in account new values, culture, ethics, and norms (VCEN) of humans, leading both humans and businesses to their own requisite holism. This covers also enterprise governance and management and their predisposition to (responsible) enterprise vision (and resulting enterprise policy) we studied. Thus we are researching the formation and development of enterprise vision, the period and wholeness of which are relative. In our discussion we originated in different definitions of vision and we showed a possible development path for it, in order to direct vision towards social responsibility (SR) in enterprise behaviour.

Ethics of managers in Slovenian public administration
Zlatko Nedelko, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The main purpose of this paper is to examine how managers´ personal values and managers´ attitudes towards the natural and social environment are shaping the ethics of those same managers in public administration. The findings are based on a sample of 212 managers from Slovenian public administration. Personal values were measured using the Schwartz value survey, while attitudes toward natural and social environment were measured with a validated questionnaire. Results show that managers´ self-enhancing values are positively related to their attitudes toward both natural and social environment and their ethics. Managers´ self-transcendence values were found to be negatively associated with their attitudes toward the social environment and their ethics. Managers´ attitudes toward natural and social environment are both positively related with the managers´ ethics. The mediation effect of the attitudes towards the social environment on the relationships between managers´ personal values and their ethics is positive and significant. The main cognition is that managers´ attitudes towards the social environment are a significantly stronger predictor of managers´ ethics than are managers´ personal values.

The influence of employeesʼ values on the acquisition of knowledge in organizations
Nataša Pivec, Vojko Potočan, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: In this paper, we focus on the importance and influence of employees’ values as an essential element of organizational culture in the acquisition of knowledge. Based on empirical research, we studied the influence of employees’ values in Slovenian organizations on the acquisition of knowledge, enabling us to identify the core values that exert the greatest effect on the acquisition of knowledge. The results of the analysis confirmed the positive impact of employees’ values on the acquisition of knowledge. We found that the more employees are dedicated to personal development and the more they feel connected and loyal to the organization, the more they are inclined to the development and acquisition of knowledge.

Medical education in the field of communication as a value and a means of health quality improvement
Jana Goriup, Kleopatra Kodrič, 2014, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The article discusses the issues of communication between a doctor and a patient as one of the main approaches within the patients' medical treatment. This approach, which includes the field of communication in medicine as a value, more and more appears as obligatory not only in the field of profession itself, but also in the field of the patients' needs. Communication covers a huge part of our social as well as intimate lives . Our social functioning is based on communication. The transfer and preserving of values is based on communication. Especially in the field of medicine, the function of communication appears to be one of the key elements to allow a better and complete treatment of the patient. The article discusses studies which have shown that communication skills have to be developed, it is advisable to introduce them into the educational programmes for med students and medical staff. Researches have shown that students, who were taught the field of communication skills, later as doctors or medical staff obtained a lot more information about patients than those who were not given such education.

Volumetric properties of ethanol-water mixtures under high pressure
Aljana Petek, Darja Pečar, Valter Doleček, 2001, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Densities of ethanol-water mixtures have been measured using a vibrating tube densimeter and a different arrangement high-pressure experimental set-up. Measurements were carried out at 298,15 K in a pressure range from 0.1 MPa to 5MPa. Partial molar volumes, excess molar volumes and coefficients of isothermal compressibility were calculated. The molar volumes of alcohol and its partial molar volumes in mixtures with water are found to decrease monotonously with increasing pressure. Excess molar volumes are negative at all pressures. The numerical P-V relations at each composition are correlated satisfactorily as a function of pressure by the Hayward equation.

Children and virtual reality
Jasminka Zloković, Metod Černetič, Olga Dečman Dobrnjič, 2009, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Possible responses to the extremely complex and delicate question of the influence that exercises on the development of a child as a unique personality, on the child's psycho-social development and on the education of a child generally may be provided by serious research of a cohort sequential design, either in research programmes in the field of educational sciences or of other social disciplines. The present paper confronts some dilemmas of the modern world. Particularly those between the educational values, families and schools and education supplied (imposed) by virtual reality that promotes the social standardization of behaviour and the perception of values and of the world around us. The aggressiveness of the mass media in presenting as and without an often results in a virtual life for a child, with virtual friends, education and even virtual families. In the time of developing technology, an important question arises: how to deal with such a situation. Do we direct young people to carefully select from what modern virtual reality has to offer and how do we do that?
