UPORABA ORODIJ ZA PROGNOZIRANJE DALJINSKEGA PROMETA, PRIMER TRANS-TOOLS
Dejan Prapotnik, 2012, diplomsko delo

Advanced modelling and simulation methods for communication networks
Jože Mohorko, Matjaž Fras, Saša Klampfer, 2008, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This paper contains a brief overview of suitable simulation tools available for education and research on network technologies and protocols. Among the mentioned tools we present advanced methods for network simulations using the OPNET modeler simulation tool. This is one of the most widespread simulation tools for network simulations, appropriate for both for teaching and also for the researching procedures of new internet devices and protocols. The basic package is intended for simulating communication networks and for protocols and devices development. There are also additional specific modules, such as a module assigned to the simulation of wireless networks, an ACE module for application analyzing, 3DNV module for visualizing networks on virtual terrain and the "System in the loop" module for simulating networks with real communication equipment in the loop, in real-time.

Intelligent decision support system for ergonomic product design
Jasmin Kaljun, Milenko Obad, Bojan Dolšak, 2011, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: In general, computer tools for ergonomic CAD do not assist designer with higher level advice when performing ergonomic design. Designer has to possess expert knowledge and experience in many fields of engineering design including ergonomics in order to deliver successful designs. Such multi-levelexperts are rare and usually occupied. Two alternative ways are used to substitute these experts: teams of experts covering different areas of knowledge are established or some intelligent computer programs with expert knowledge are applied. In the second case, expert knowledge has to be collected, organized and encoded into the knowledge base of the system. An intelligent decision support system has been developed in order to overcome this bottleneck. This paper presents a knowledge base, containing ergonomic design knowledge specific for hand tools design. A pneumatic hammer handle design is used as a case study to show how ergonomic design knowledge built in the system is used to improve the ergonomic value of the product.

The role of computer-aided chemical engineering education within the european Bologna three- cycle study system
Zdravko Kravanja, Jiri Klemeš, 2011, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: Universities around Europe are currently adopting the new Bologna three-cycle study system and most of Chemical Engineering departments have already developed new study programs accordingly. In this respect, two main questions have been posed in order to reorganize current chemical engineering study programs: i) which skills and knowledge, common to all chemical engineers, should not be ignored whilst developing new chemical engineer curricula, and ii) which are the other chemical engineering topics, engineering fields, and nonengineering knowledge necessary for engineers to manage those problems of specific current and future (bio)chemical and process related industries. One of the aims of this presentation is to discuss basic learning outcomes, and recommended topics common to all chemical engineers, especially relating to those process systems engineering aspects to be embedded within new study programs requiring the use of computer-aided methods and tools during chemicalengineering education. The uses for these methods and tools will be discussed shortly, among them the development of new computer-aided methods and tools, multimedia internet-based teaching and learning programs, and cyberinfrastrucure-based virtual libraries.

Software tools overview : process integration, modelling and optimisation for energy saving and pollution reduction
Hon Loong Lam, Jiri Klemeš, Zdravko Kravanja, Petar Varbanov, 2011, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This paper provides an overview of software tools based on long experience andapplications in the area of process integration, modelling and optimisation. The first part reviews the current design practice and the development of supporting software tools. Those are categorised as: (1) process integration and retrofit analysis tools, (2) general mathematical modelling suites with optimisation libraries, (3) flowsheeting simulation and (4) graph-based process optimisation tools. The second part covers an assessment of tools which enable the generation of new sustainable alternatives to adapt to the future needs. They deal with waste, environment, energy consumption, resources depletion and production cost constrains. The emphasis of the sustainable process design tools is largely on the evaluation of process viability under sustainable economic conditions, synthesis of sustainable process and supply chain process maintenance and life cycle analysis. Major software tools development and the potential of the research-based tools for sustainable process design task are overviewed in theconcluding part.

Segmenting risks in risk management
Borut Jereb, 2009, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The paper describes a segmentation of risks to make each risk segment more manageable. The proposed approach is primarily intended to improve the confidentiality of risk simulations. The description of the approach is based on a logistics business process system which requires that its input is represented as a process graph. Each process is defined in terms of input and output; input comprises general input as well as risks; output comprises general output as well as impacts. The model takes into consideration internalas well as external input and output. Parameters can be used to define individual processes. Processes include functions that calculate new values of parameters and output on the bases of given input. Based on given tolerance levels for risks, impacts and process parameters, the model determines whether these levels are acceptable. The model assumes that parameters and functions are non-deterministic, i.e. parameters and functions may change in time. Although the approach is described on a very general level, each segment can be further subdivided into subsegments in order to include more characteristics of observed risks.

Using wiki for rapid authoring of huge numbers of e-assessments
Ilire Hasani-Mavriqi, Christoph Portsch, Christoph Trattner, Brigita Kacjan, Denis Helić, Hermann A. Maurer, 2010, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: Nowadays, Question and Test Interoperability (QTI) is a de facto standard for management of so called E-Assessments. It is our experience from numerous technology-supported education projects that QTI supports interoperability andexchange of assessments but completely neglects the authoring process of these assessments. In particular, the task of authoring of a large number of assessments for teachers without technical background is very time and resources consuming one. Therefore, we developed a novel format that focuses on supporting teachers in rapid authoring of huge number of E-Assessments and implemented it as a part of an educational Wiki system. In this paper we present this new format together with its implementation and the first evaluation results of the implemented tool.

Improving products' ergonomic value using intelligent decision support system
Jasmin Kaljun, Bojan Dolšak, 2012, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: During the process of defining suitable design solutions, a designer has to consider a wide range of influential factors. Ergonomics certainly belongs to more complex ones. Less experienced designers could encounter several problems during this design stage. Although some literature can be found about ergonomic design of hand tools, a designer still has to have amassed quite a lot of experience and knowledge in the field of ergonomic, in order to choose and carry out appropriate design and redesign actions. Existing computer tools for ergonomic design are not able to assist a designer with higher level advice within design process.
