The role of intelligent data analysis in selected endurance sports : a systematic literature review
Alen Rajšp, Patrik Rek, Peter Kokol, Iztok Fister, 2025, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: In endurance sports, athletes and coaches shift increasingly from intuition-based decisionmaking to data-driven approaches powered by modern technology and analytics. Since 2018, the field has experienced significant advances, influencing endurance sports disciplines. This systematic literature review identified 75 peer-reviewed studies on intelligent data analysis in endurance sports training. Each study was categorized by its intelligent method (e.g., machine learning, deep learning, computational intelligence), the types of sensors and wearables used, and the specific training application and approach. Our synthesis reveals that machine learning and deep learning are among the most used approaches, with running and cycling identified as the most extensively studied sports. Physiological and environmental data, such as heart rate, biomechanical signals, and GPS, are often used to aid in generating personalized training plans, predicting injuries, and increasing athletes’ long-term performance. Despite these advancements, challenges remain, related to data quality and the small participant sample sizes.

Recent trends in information and cyber security maturity assessment : a systematic literature review
Alenka Baggia, Alenka Brezavšček, 2025, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: This work represents a comprehensive and systematic literature review (SLR) that follows the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and MetaAnalyses) guidelines for research assessing information and cyber security maturity. The period from 2012 to 2024 was considered and the final collection of 96 studies was taken into account. Our findings were summarised in two stages, a quantitative analysis and a qualitative synthesis. In the first part, various quantitative indicators were used to analyse the evolution of the information and cyber security maturity assessment domain over the last twelve years. The qualitative synthesis, which was limited to 36 research papers, categorises the studies into three key areas: the development of new maturity models, the implementation of established models and frameworks, and the advancement of methodologies to support maturity assessments. The findings reveal significant progress in sector-specific customisation, the growing importance of lightweight models for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and the integration of emerging technologies. This study provides important insights into the evolving landscape of information and cyber security maturity assessment and provides actionable recommendations for academia and industry to improve security resilience and support the adoption of tailored, effective maturity models

Considering family trees as a useful tool in family medicine : a systematic review
Ksenija Tušek-Bunc, Alem Maksuti, Danica Rotar-Pavlič, 2025, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: Aim: The aim of this study was to perform a systematic literature review of the purpose, design, and use of family trees by family physicians (FPs). Background: Family trees offer a valuable contribution to understanding the relevance of the patient's family history in comprehensive primary healthcare provision. There is little research on the role of family trees in the everyday practice of FPs. Studies often focus on specific diseases and their context: however, a comprehensive exploration of the usefulness of family trees is crucial for FPs. Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted through a keyword search in the PubMed and Cochrane databases. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria selected, 24 studies were identified and a qualitative analysis was performed. Findings: A total of 369 publications were identified across 32 fields. Twenty-four studies were included in the final analysis according to the QUOROM statement. The results underscore the role of family trees and highlight the value of this tool's multidimensionality. The use of this tool directs FPs to consider a genetic cause and a possible referral to a geneticist. The value of a family tree lies in the personalized patient-oriented treatment in connection with hereditary risks for chronic diseases. For FPs, the greatest challenge in treating patients is determining their risk of developing a chronic disease or cancer. Using a family tree can improve the quality of their healthcare.

The impact of affective polarization on political participation : a systematic review
Maruša Lubej, Martin Dolezal, Andrej Kirbiš, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Affective polarization is widely considered detrimental to democratic processes, yet recent research suggests it may play an important role in political participation. This systematic review investigates the impact of affective polarization on political participation, synthesizing findings from 18 empirical studies. Through a comprehensive search across multiple databases, we address the fragmented understanding of the link between affective polarization and institutional (e.g. voter turnout) and non-institutional (e.g. protest) forms of participation. Our findings indicate that most studies show a positive association between affective polarization and political participation, with stronger evidence for its impact on institutional than on non-institutional participation. This pattern also holds for habitual versus non-habitual participation, albeit with variations across different cultural and political contexts. Finally, we highlight the need for further research, particularly through longitudinal and experimental designs and by examining the mechanisms through which affective polarization is linked to political participation.

Haftom Gebregziabher Hagos, Dušan Lesjak, Andrej Flogie, Ravindra Babu.B, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Knowledge Management (KM) within higher education, particularly in the Federal Technical and Vocational Training (TVT) sector. This systematic review synthesizes current research on AI-based KM in higher education during the pandemic, aiming to elucidate its effectiveness, challenges, and future directions. Following PRISMA guidelines, we conducted a comprehensive search across major databases, including Web of Science, Scopus, and ERIC, identifying 69 relevant studies published between 2020 and 2023. Our analysis reveals that AI-based KM has significantly enhanced personalized learning experiences, improved health safety measures, and increased administrative efficiency in higher education. However, challenges persist, including technological barriers, ethical concerns, and the digital divide. The review highlights a notable research gap in empirical studies validating AI's effectiveness in real-world educational settings, particularly in developing countries. Furthermore, there is a critical need for comprehensive ethical frameworks governing AI use in education. Our findings underscore the transformative potential of AI-based KM in higher education, while emphasizing the necessity for context-specific implementations and rigorous evaluation methodologies. This review provides valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and researchers, guiding future developments in AI-based KM strategies for resilient and inclusive higher education systems in the post-pandemic era.

6.
A taxonomy of critical success factors for implementing corporate sustainability strategies: a systematic review
Urška Butolen, Igor Vrečko, Iztok Palčič, 2025, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: Businesses are facing increasing pressure to transition to a sustainable economy, requiring the integration of environmental, social, and economic aspects into their corporate strategies. Despite the proliferation of sustainability frameworks, many companies struggle to implement them effectively due to a lack of strategic focus. This study develops a taxonomy of critical success factors (CSFs) for implementing corporate sustainability strategies in production companies, addressing a gap in current research that often focuses on strategy design rather than practical execution. A systematic literature review was conducted to identify critical success factors influencing successful implementation and categorise them, providing a comprehensive understanding of their roles. The proposed taxonomy includes five dimensions: organisational culture, organisational structure, performance management, resources (including digitalisation and technology), and stakeholder integration (including sustainable supply chain management). An explanation is provided of the role of identified CSFs in the successful implementation of corporate sustainability strategies and their interrelationships. The taxonomy serves as a tool for production companies to manage critical success factors influencing the successful implementation of sustainability. This research contributes to the growing body of knowledge on sustainability by providing practical insights for effective strategy implementation and calls for more empirical studies to explore this area further.

Attraction basins in metaheuristics: a systematic mapping study
Mihael Baketarić, Marjan Mernik, Tomaž Kosar, 2021, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: Context: In this study, we report on a Systematic Mapping Study (SMS) for attraction basins in the domain of metaheuristics. Objective: To identify research trends, potential issues, and proposed solutions on attraction basins in the field of metaheuristics. Research goals were inspired by the previous paper, published in 2021, where attraction basins were used to measure exploration and exploitation. Method: We conducted the SMS in the following steps: Defining research questions, conducting the search in the ISI Web of Science and Scopus databases, full-text screening, iterative forward and backward snowballing (with ongoing full-text screening), classifying, and data extraction. Results: Attraction basins within discrete domains are understood far better than those within continuous domains. Attraction basins on dynamic problems have hardly been investigated. Multi-objective problems are investigated poorly in both domains, although slightly more often within a continuous domain. There is a lack of parallel and scalable algorithms to compute attraction basins and a general framework that would unite all different definitions/implementations used for attraction basins. Conclusions: Findings regarding attraction basins in the field of metaheuristics reveal that the concept alone is poorly exploited, as well as identify open issues where researchers may improve their research.

Software self-hosting : a systematic review of quantitative research☆
Luka Hrgarek, Lili Nemec Zlatolas, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: In an era marked by heightened concerns surrounding personal privacy and data security, software self-hosting has gained significance as a means for individuals and organizations to reclaim control over their digital assets. This systematic review aims to identify relevant research gaps in the quantitative analysis of self-hosting, primarily focusing on studies employing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and regression techniques. Employing a refined version of the Systematic Mapping Process, we analyzed 49 quantitative research papers whose concepts were grouped into 12 substantive groups. The findings reveal a predominant concentration on constructs related to the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), with limited exploration of self-hosting specifically, overshadowed by an emphasis on cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), and privacy aspects. Our review provides a comprehensive overview of the existing literature and highlights the need for more focused research on self-hosting itself. This systematic review serves as a foundational resource for researchers and practitioners aimed at advancing the discourse on self-hosting.

Measuring climate knowledge : a systematic review of quantitative studies
Maruša Lubej, Žiga Petraš, Andrej Kirbiš, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Climate change is a pressing issue that necessitates a climate-literate population. This systematic literature review investigates how climate knowledge, a key component of climate literacy, is measured in scientific research. Analysis of 92 studies reveals that climate knowledge is primarily assessed as objective knowledge (facts and evidence). A minority of studies measured subjective knowledge. Most often, the target population was general adult population, followed by students and teachers. Furthermore, most studies are concentrated in North America and Europe, while climate knowledge remains underexplored in other regions. This review highlights the lack of consistency in the measurement of climate knowledge, particularly in defining its dimensions. Our findings underscore the need for future research to focus on developing a standardized, reliable, valid, and comprehensive instrument for measuring climate knowledge. This would enable the comparison of findings across different regions and populations.

Prevalence of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) : systematic review and meta-analysis
Sara Popit, Klara Šerod, Igor Locatelli, Matej Štuhec, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Background: The estimates of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) prevalence across various studies are significantly variable, contributing to uncertainty in ADHD prevalence estimation. Previous systematic reviews and meta-analyses have attributed this variability primarily to the methodological characteristics of the studies, including the diagnostic criteria, source of information, and impairment requirement for the diagnosis. Methods: Review identified studies reporting ADHD prevalence in representative samples of children and adults in Europe and worldwide. Studies that were conducted in the general population were included. We focused on studies that report ADHD prevalence based on clinical diagnosis (clinical diagnostic criteria based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and International Classification of Diseases criteria, other diagnostic tools, such as various scales or interviews based on clinical diagnostic criteria). PubMed/Medline was searched to identify relevant articles published until 2024/2/01. The study was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42020200220) and followed Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses 2020 guidelines for systematic review and meta-analysis. Results: In total, 117 studies were subjected to full evaluation. In the meta-analysis, 103 studies representing 159 independent datapoints were included. The overall prevalence of ADHD in register studies was 1.6%, 95% CI [0.9; 3.0], in survey studies 5.0%, 95% CI [2.9; 8.6], in one-stage clinical studies 4.2%, 95% CI [2.9; 6.0], and in two-stage clinical studies 4.8%, 95% CI [4.0; 5.8]. Conclusions: Exact comparisons among studies with different diagnostic criteria and types of sampling can impact prevalence estimates. When comparing data from methodologically different studies, these factors need to be considered.
