2. Improving mutation strategies in differential evolution with a new pbest selection mechanismJan Popič, Borko Bošković, Janez Brest, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Differential evolution, which belongs to a group of population-based algorithms, has received a lot of research attention since its introduction in 1995. A population-based algorithm is required to guide individuals to visit potentially better basins of attraction in the search space when searching for a globally optimal solution. Additionally, individuals need to interact with each other during an evolutionary process to explore the search space effectively. In this paper, we propose a novel pbest selection mechanism for DE/current-to-pbest mutation strategy and its variants designed to enhance the potential for exploration of different attraction basins. The proposed mechanism enforces a minimal distance between the selected pbest individual and all other better individuals. This means that possible candidates for the pbest individual, used in mutation, are further spaced apart. As a result, the likelihood that the new trial vector will be generated in a different attraction basin of the search space is increased. The mechanism is incorporated into the L-SHADE, jSO, and L-SRTDE algorithms, and its effectiveness is evaluated using CEC’24 benchmark functions. Experimental results demonstrate improvements in the performance of the selected algorithms, particularly in higher-dimensional problem instances. 5. The challenges of translating metaphors in Slovene retranslation of Edgar Allan Poe's short storiesNatalia Kaloh Vid, Agnes Kojc, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The article focuses on translations of metaphors, a unique aesthetic and poetic figure that requires special attention and accurate rendering in a literary translation. When translating metaphors, the translator should understand and preserve the meaning and the aesthetic component of the metaphors. The study discusses the rendering of metaphors in translations and re-translations of three short stories by Edgar Allan Poe: “The Gold Bug,” translated by Boris Rihteršič in 1935, and Jože Udovič in 1960; “The Pit and the Pendulum,” translated by Rihteršič in 1935 and by Udovič in 1972, and “The Fall of the House of Usher,” translated by Zoran Jerin and Igor Šentjurc (1952), and by Udovič in 1972. In gothic fiction, Poe established himself as a master of metaphors, which he used with astonishing fluency and precision. The results of the analysis demonstrate how and in which way Slovene translators rendered metaphors in the short stories of one of the greatest writers of gothic fiction, and what strategies they used to preserve Poe’s unique, dark, and delirious metaphorical style. 6. Communication with disabled fans at sports events : approaches, challenges, and opportunitiesMartin Koželj, Iztok Podbregar, Maja Meško, Irena Nančovska Šerbec, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This study investigates how effectively European football clubs communicate
and implement accessibility features for disabled fans, aiming to develop a comprehensive
framework for evaluating these practices. Using a multi-phase research design, the study
analyzes disability support systems through semi-structured interviews with representatives from eleven European football clubs and a systematic analysis of club documentation.
The methodology combined traditional qualitative analysis with large language model
(LLM)-assisted content analysis, enabling robust identification of thematic patterns and
performance indicators. Our findings reveal significant disparities in disability support
practices, with larger clubs demonstrating structured approaches through dedicated Disability Access Officers (DAOs) and comprehensive communication strategies. Analysis
identified three distinct performance tiers: Elite Performers, primarily well-resourced clubs
with advanced systems; Solid Performers, mid-tier clubs with established frameworks; and
Developing Systems, smaller organizations with emerging support structures. We present
a validated Fan Communication Model incorporating key weighted criteria, including
infrastructure, dedicated personnel, engagement, specific adaptations, ticketing, challenge
management, and feedback systems. This model provides a standardized framework
for evaluating disability support communication in football organizations. The research
demonstrates the importance of integrating technological solutions with human-centered
approaches while maintaining universal design principles. Our findings contribute to the
sports accessibility literature and provide evidence-based recommendations for football
organizations seeking to enhance their communication with disabled fans.

10. PICOT questions and search strategies formulation: a novel approach using artificial intelligence automationLucija Gosak, Gregor Štiglic, Lisiane Pruinelli, Dominika Vrbnjak, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Aim
The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare artificial intelligence (AI)-based large language models (LLMs) (ChatGPT-3.5, Bing, and Bard) with human-based formulations in generating relevant clinical queries, using comprehensive methodological evaluations.
Methods
To interact with the major LLMs ChatGPT-3.5, Bing Chat, and Google Bard, scripts and prompts were designed to formulate PICOT (population, intervention, comparison, outcome, time) clinical questions and search strategies. Quality of the LLMs responses was assessed using a descriptive approach and independent assessment by two researchers. To determine the number of hits, PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and CINAHL Ultimate search results were imported separately, without search restrictions, with the search strings generated by the three LLMs and an additional one by the expert. Hits from one of the scenarios were also exported for relevance evaluation. The use of a single scenario was chosen to provide a focused analysis. Cronbach's alpha and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) were also calculated.
Results
In five different scenarios, ChatGPT-3.5 generated 11,859 hits, Bing 1,376,854, Bard 16,583, and an expert 5919 hits. We then used the first scenario to assess the relevance of the obtained results. The human expert search approach resulted in 65.22% (56/105) relevant articles. Bing was the most accurate AI-based LLM with 70.79% (63/89), followed by ChatGPT-3.5 with 21.05% (12/45), and Bard with 13.29% (42/316) relevant hits. Based on the assessment of two evaluators, ChatGPT-3.5 received the highest score (M = 48.50; SD = 0.71). Results showed a high level of agreement between the two evaluators. Although ChatGPT-3.5 showed a lower percentage of relevant hits compared to Bing, this reflects the nuanced evaluation criteria, where the subjective evaluation prioritized contextual accuracy and quality over mere relevance.
Conclusion
This study provides valuable insights into the ability of LLMs to formulate PICOT clinical questions and search strategies. AI-based LLMs, such as ChatGPT-3.5, demonstrate significant potential for augmenting clinical workflows, improving clinical query development, and supporting search strategies. However, the findings also highlight limitations that necessitate further refinement and continued human oversight.
Clinical Relevance
AI could assist nurses in formulating PICOT clinical questions and search strategies. AI-based LLMs offer valuable support to healthcare professionals by improving the structure of clinical questions and enhancing search strategies, thereby significantly increasing the efficiency of information retrieval.
