The inclusion of children with special needs in folklore activities in Slovenian schools with a special educational programme
Bojan Kovačič, Nejc Černela, Marta Licardo, 2025, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: Using a representative sample (240 professionals from all 28 Slovenian primary schools with a special educational programme), we partially confirmed the hypothesis, which states that professionals who teach in schools with a special education programme agree with the statements about the inclusion of students with special needs in folklore activities. The hypothesis, which asserts that there are statistically significant differences between groups of professionals (special and rehabilitation pedagogues, special needs teachers, inclusive pedagogues, social pedagogues, teachers with special pedagogical qualifications and other pedagogical staff) regarding their agreement with statements referring to the inclusion of students with special needs in folklore activities in schools with a special education programme, was rejected based on the results obtained.

Selected Contemporary Research on Special Needs, Giftedness, and Talent in Slovenia
2025, znanstvena monografija

Opis: This monograph covers an extensive array of topics related to special needs, talent, and giftedness in the Slovenian educational system. It consists of twelve insightful chapters written by twenty-three authors, mostly from the University of Maribor's Faculty of Education. Addressing a wide range of professionals, the book examines innovative research and strategies to enhance the support and education of these special populations. The topics covered include speech and language therapy, reading adaptations and adjustments to music lessons for autistic students, the inclusion of children with special needs in folklore, and the identification and support of twice-exceptional students. It also discusses student involvement in school-home cooperation, early identification of mathematically gifted children, musical talent development, dance creativity in kindergarten, multilingual reading to expand vocabulary, and classroom design to encourage artistic expression. Overall, the monograph promotes a better understanding of these populations' specific needs and encourages discussion about creating inclusive, supportive, and effective educational environments.

The role of communication skills in the development of digital literacy competences using the "DigInGreen"
Mateja Forte, Matevž Obrecht, Bojana Slomšek Šlamberger, 2024, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: The paper deals with the field of developing communicationand digital literacy with the help of the lifelong learning model "DigInGreen" for all layers of modern society, including people with special needs. The aim of the authors is a targeted search for new solutions in the field of using digital learning and communication tools for the development of digital competences in the light of"Society 5.0". We focus on a unique way of connecting paradigms, such as: inclusive society, competences, digital, special needs, literacy and lifelong learning. We want to connect the thinking about the communicative ability, an indispensable part of which is an individual's digital literacy and point out, that the circumstances of living in a modern, but still partially exclusive society, limit the development of an individual's communicativeand digital literacy, due to a demonstrated special need or disability. We believe, that the activities we carry out,are a unique example of good practice, because they connect many scientific disciplines and fields into a modern concept of competence development without excluding or conditioning the end user. We combine the paradigms of logistics, informatics, statistics, social studies, linguistics and didactics. All the above and more represent the concept of "Society 5.0", which cannot exist as a scientific construct,if it does not consider the key aspect of one's own identification -social equality and the provision of equal opportunities.

Differences in self-regulated learning between gifted students, students with special needs and other students in Slovenian schools
Eva Kranjec, Karin Bakračevič, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Self-regulated learning strategies play a crucial role in learning progress and academic achievement of different groups of students. The purpose of the present study is to investigate differences in the use of self-regulatory strategies among a sample of 1,495 students, aged 12 to 15 years, representing three groups: gifted students, students with special needs, and other students. The theoretical framework for the study is Pintrich's (1991) model of self-regulated learning. Data were collected using the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ). Results indicated that gifted students scored significantly higher on the MSLQ subscales of motivation and learning strategies than students with special needs and other peers. Special needs students reported lower intrinsic and extrinsic goal orientation and weaker self-efficacy in learning and achievement than other students. There were no significant differences between these two groups on the MSLQ learning strategies subscales. Positive and statistically significant associations between the MSLQ subscales and final grades in three school subjects (Slovenian, mathematics, and foreign language) were also confirmed. We discuss the implications of our findings for future research and the educational context that contributes most to the development of self-regulated learning in all groups of students.

Literary works including children with special needs
Nika Vizjak Puškar, Dragica Haramija, 2023, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: Owing to their inclusion in the education system, teachers often encounter students with special needs during their work. When working with these students, the teacher’s level of empathy is extremely important, however it is difficult to achieve if they are not familiar with how these students think and feel. One way of becoming acquainted with individuals with special needs is by becoming familiar with their thinking patterns, especially their emotional responses. The paper presents literary sources related to the topic, wherein the sources are evaluated, and the selected works are analysed. Besides the method of analysis (protagonists, supporting characters, literary space, literary time, subject, theme, motifs, narrator, structure, and plot), the descriptive method for presenting theoretical starting points and the method of synthesis in the conclusion are also used.

MEDNARODNE DENARNE REZERVE CENTRALNIH BANK

V raziskavi sem proučevala strukturo mednarodnih denarnih rezerv centralnih bank, torej obseg deviznih rezerv, monetarnega zlata, rezervne pozicije in posebnih pravic črpanja.

Self-concept of students in inclusive settings
Majda Schmidt, Branka Čagran, 2008, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The present evaluation case study investigates the self-concept of the students from 7th grade in regular primary school. The study results indicate that, in comparison to their hearing peers, integrated students with a hearingimpairment have a lower academic and social self-concept, as well as a general self-concept but a higher physical self-concept. There are differences among students with a hearing impairment in both the individual dimension and general self-concept. There are no statistically significant differences between the class with integrated students, on the one hand, and the class without them, on the other; however, there is a noticeable advantage for the students from the class with integrated learners over the other class serving as control group in all three individual dimensions as well as in general self-concept.

Prisoner rehabilitation in Croatia
Irma Kovčo Vukadin, Vladimira Žakman-Ban, Anita Jandrić Nišević, 2010, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: Namen prispevka: This paper gives an analitical overview of historical development and contemporary picture of the concept of prisoner rehabilitation in Croatia within current crime and punishment perspective. Metodologija: For the purpose of the analysis, legislative documents were taken into account, as well as data on crime and punishment (Croatian Bureau of Statistics) and Ministry of justice and Ombudsman reports. Ugotovitve: The authors have found that Croatia has a modern legal frame for meeting all internationally recognized prerequisits for prisoners’ rehabilitation and reintegration but has to solve overcrowding as the main source of many problems in organizing adequate prison life for prisoners and also for the staff. Adequate staffing and incorporation of evaluation plans in special rehabilitation programs were also pointed out as important tasks. Omejitve raziskave: Examination of history of prisoner rehabilitation is sometimes problematic while the laws were rehabilitation oriented (on declarative level) but those who experienced that „law in action“ rarely agreed with that declaration. This may also be the result of different meaning of the term „rehabilitation“ (specially for certain types of prisoners) in different political climates. Praktična uporabnost: This paper showed that concept of rehabilitation may vary at definition level. Also, it prooved that some current elements of the execution of prison sentence (as a part of rehabilitation) have a long history. Izvirnost/pomembnost prispevka: This paper provides a first attempt (to authors knowledge) of Croatian prisoner rehabilitation evaluation.
