Assessment of the innovation system in SMEs using innovation taxonomy and pondering methods
Ana Gallardo Gandarillas, 2021, diplomsko delo

Opis: In this bachelor thesis, the different types of innovation within a company are studied and analysed. The companies studied are SMEs i.e. from 10 to 250 employees. Smaller companies are mainly confronted with the problem of resources and larger companies with their strategic orientation. We have studied the ten types of innovations according to Doblin (Doblin 2014), and we realise that they have a rather marketing-oriented focus, so we analyse five groups of innovations that we consider to be the key (marketing, product, organisational, business model and technological innovation). Five groups of innovations have been weighed on a scale from 0 to 100 % according to their importance to contribute to the economic success of the company. All groups have been weighted and ranked in order of priority to initiate the innovation process in the SME, starting with marketing, followed by product, technological, organisational and business model innovations. We found innovation process needs to be implemented as a continuous cyclical process. If the company wants to be successful, it is a continuous cycle model, which should never stop. Once a particular innovation is chosen, it will be studied and tested whether the investment can be successful. If so investment process will be executed, if not, the cycling process will start again until gives a positive result. This way one of the innovation is recognized as most important according to circumstances in SME involved at a certain moment.

Contemporary network organizations in Slovenia
Jure Kovač, Brigita Gajšek, 2014, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Modern organisations are confronted with enormous challenges. The need to continuously adapt to changing environments represents a main challenge for modern organisations. In order to adapt to the requirements of modern environments more easily and more rapidly, organisations become connected into networks. A network organisation is fast becoming a favourite form of the modern organisation. On the basis of an analysis of members in the field of network organisations, this contribution presents the dimensions and definitions of network organisations. In the follow-up, the starting point for a theoretical explanation of network organisations and their different existing forms is presented. The emphasis of the empirical part of the contribution focuses on presenting an analysis of forms of network organisations that are present in Slovenia from the perspective of their shape, development and actual state. Based on an analysis of relevant documentation, it may be concluded that it was the institutional environment which initiated and directed the start-up processes that led to the establishment of contemporary network organisations within Slovenia.

The values, objectives and management styles of managers in Slovenia
Jure Kovač, Manca Jesenko, 2004, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Managers play a key role in the restructuring and transformation of economic structures in transitional countries. It is, therefore, not surprising that they are at the centre of attention for experts and others as well. This paper describes the results of two studies conducted in 1998 and 2003 regarding the values governing the life, work and leadership styles of managers. Special attention was paid to the shifts in values that occurred in the five-year period between the two studies, and to demonstrating the correlation between an individual's values and his/her leadership style.

New type of roundabout: dual one-lane roundabouts on two levels with right-hand turning bypasses - "target roundabout"
Tomaž Tollazzi, Goran Jovanović, Marko Renčelj, 2013, kratki znanstveni prispevek

Opis: The problems of low level traffic safety on multi-lane roundabouts have been resolved in various ways in different countries, usually by using alternative types of roundabouts that reduce the number of conflict points. Alternative types of roundabouts typically differ from "normal" or "standard" roundabouts in one or more design elements, as their implementation purposes could also be specific. Today, several different types of roundabouts are already in use ("mini", "double mini", "dumb-bell", those "with joint splitter islands" ("dog-bone"), those "with a spiralling circular carriageway" ("turbo"), those "with depressed lanes for right-hand turners" ("flower") etc.). This paper introduces a new type of roundabout, dual one-lane roundabouts on two levels with right-hand turning bypasses, namely the "target roundabout". This paper describes and analyses their design, traffic safety, and capacity characteristics, compared with the standard two-lane roundabouts.

Principal determinants of Slovenian and other NMS' trade in agricultural and food products
Darja Majkovič, Štefan Bojnec, Jernej Turk, 2005, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Trade liberalization for new member states (NMS) of the European Union (EU) following the recent EU accesion towards the East, tends to lead to an increase in trade flows among current EU-25 members. The trade creation effects induce the increased traded volume and the diversified trade types. These development patterns are revealed also in agricultural and food trade inNMS. Comparisons of the Slovenian agricultural and food trade with the similar trade for the other NMS are conducted with the emphasis on distinctionbetween primary and processed agricultural and food products. On the basis of the analysis it has been faund that the prevailing trade type is the inter-industry trade, which implies higher adjustment cost of displacementof resources across different industries. Intra-industry trade, which is often observed in trade among countries with similar factor endowments and smaller economic distances, represents only minor part of NMS-trade in agri-food products. Trade specialization, trade patterns, and trade geography in agri-food products imply some similarities with developing countries with less competitive agricultural and facto sector.

Vegetation of the Stjuža coastal lagoon in Strunjan landscape park (Slovenia)
Nina Šajna, Mitja Kaligarič, 2005, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: A draft history of the artificial Stjuža coastal lagoon was reconstructed on the basis of old maps (1804 and 1873); and compared with the present-day situation using GIS. The current data were simplified to obtain comparable caregories (landscape units) with old maps. The following major landscape units were distinguished: lagoon, salt marshes, mainland, brackish rivers and estuaries, ditches and canals, salt-pans, embankment, villages and roads. On current map, a total of 47 habitat types according to PHYSIS typology occurring in 206 polygons, which cover an area of 41.6 ha, were identified and described. Habitats with greater nature-conservancy value cover 26.7 ha of the total research area and constitute 40% of the polygons described. 55.6% of these belong to halophilous scrubs - Sarcocornetea fruticosi (= Arthrocnemetea fruticosi) - and 25.9% to annual salt pioneer sward communities, dominated by Salicornia europaea. Mediterranean salt swamps (Juncion maritimi) are present to a small extent only. It could be concluded that the artificial Stjuža lagoon, constructed for fish farming purposes, developed in habitat diverse coastal wetland area after partial abandonment.

Is variety of species-rich semi-natural Mesobromion grasslands detectable with functional approach?
Mitja Kaligarič, Nina Šajna, Sonja Škornik, 2005, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The aim of the study was to compare how the relevés of species-rich dry grasslands (classis Festuco-Brometea) in Central and Eastern Slovenia differ among each other on the basis of floristic composition and of 11 Plant Functional Traits (PFTs). On the basis of floristic structure and cover values, the relevés were classified in three well separated clusters. In the PCA ordination, the first axes suggested a gradient of soil pH, while the second, floristically based gradient, was interpreted as soil humidity. On the basis of selected traits, 3 PFTs were clustered, but not clearly interpreted. Despite differences in environmental parameters across Slovenia (climate, geographical position, altitude, soil conditions) and variety of land use disturbances - drivers of floristic variety, no discernible difference in vegetation structure in terms of selected plant traits were perceived by PCA ordination. It could be concluded that secondary dry grasslands share rather uniform functional types with not clearly detectable structural differences among them.

Diversity of spa types among MRSA isolates from Maribor University hospital
Božena Kotnik-Kevorkijan, Marija Klasinc, Slavica Lorenčič Robnik, Živa Petrovič, Maja Rupnik, 2009, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Background: Typing of pathogens is an important part in control and preventionof health care-associated infections. For methilcillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) a new sequence-based and easily internationally comparable typing method, spa typing, was recently described. We have used this method to analyze the MRSA types present in our hospital and to compare them with types reported elsewhere. Methods: 63 MRSA strains isolated from patients in Maribor University Hospital (MUH) during the year 2006 were spa typed. Typing data were compared to the patient hospitalization data to detect possible spatial and temporal clusters. Results: Sixty-three MRSA strains were distributed into 12 spa types. Seven spa types were represented only by a single isolate. The three most prevalent types (t001, t288, t003) included 80 % of all strains. The most prevalent type, t001, was present in many differentwards and during entire year. This type is also one of the mostly isolated types worldwide. High prevalence of other two types seems to be associated with small scale transmission events. Conclusions: Most of the spa types present in MUH are well known and widespread also elsewhere in Slovenia, in other EU countries and worldwide. Typing has helped us to follow the introduction of different MRSA types to the hospital environment and to detect occasional transmissions.

Tanja Zelenik, 2013, diplomsko delo

Opis: The noun is one of the most important sentence elements in grammar. Accordingly, it plays an important role. It occurs in various forms, but generally, we can say that in English language the nouns may be divided into a limited number of categories, which differ according to their meaning and grammatical use. These categories, and more specifically, the countability of English nouns based on the examples of the noun 'work' and the noun 'time', are the focus of the graduation thesis. Moreover, the aim of the thesis was to research the countability of these two nouns. In particular, the emphasis was on the point when or in which cases are the nouns uncountable and when countable; what impacts on the occurance of the shift from uncountable to countable (and vise versa); the grammatical changes and changes in meaning that follow and, nevertheless, which countability form is their basic form. After the presentation of the noun as a sentence article in the theoretical part, the noun is in empirical part analyzed based on the examples of the noun 'work' and 'time' with the help of Corpus of Contemporary American English - COCA. Based on several examples of the use of nouns 'work' and 'time', which were also obtained from the corpus, it is also possible to conclude in which circumstances are the nouns used most frequently as singular nouns or in which as plural.

Anita Flis, 2009, diplomsko delo

Opis: The aim of this diploma paper was to determine whether different advertising slogans share the same language characteristics, first on the level of individual theme groups and within the individual criteria and then on the level of all analysed slogans. Research sample included 125 randomly chosen advertising slogans which were then classified into five theme groups each one having 25 slogans.. These theme groups were then analysed according to the following criteria: type of clauses, personal pronouns and possessive determiners, forms of figurative language and sound devices, number of words in slogans, and frequently used words. The analysis has shown that advertising slogans do share certain characteristics. These characteristics included the domination of two types of clauses and of personal pronoun you and possessive determiner yours. The majority of analysed slogans was also formed with forms of figurative language and sound devices and did not exceed five words in a slogan. Frequently used words were found mostly on the level of individual theme groups and not that often on the level of all analysed slogans, with the exception of the verb to be and the adjective good with their forms.
