Heterogeneous aspirations promote cooperation in the prisoner's dilemma game
Matjaž Perc, Zhen Wang, 2010, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: To be the fittest is central to proliferation in evolutionary games. Individuals thus adopt the strategies of better performing players in the hopeof successful reproduction. In structured populations the array of those that are eligible to act as strategy sources is bounded to the immediate neighbors of each individual. But which one of these strategy sources should potentially be copied? Previous research dealt with this question either by selecting the fittest or by selecting one player uniformly at random. Here we introduce a parameter that interpolates between these two extreme options. Setting equal to zero returns the random selection of the opponent, while positive favor the fitter players. In addition, we divide the population intotwo groups. Players from group select their opponents as dictated by the parameter , while players from group do so randomly irrespective of . We denote the fraction of players contained in groups and by and , respectively. The two parameters and allow us to analyze in detail how aspirations in the context of the prisoner's dilemma game influence the evolution of cooperation. We find that for sufficiently positive values of there exist a robust intermediate for which cooperation thrives best. The robustness of this observation is tested against different levels of uncertainty in the strategy adoption process and for different interaction networks. We also provide complete phase diagrams depicting the dependence of the impact of and for different values of , and contrast the validity of ourconclusions by means of an alternative model where individual aspiration levels are subject to evolution as well. Our study indicates that heterogeneity in aspirations may be key for the sustainability of cooperation in structured populations.

SOCIAL AND MORAL DIFFERENCES IN THE WORKS OF GEORGE B. SHAW THE MILLIONAIRESS AND THE APPLE CART
Aleš Trstenjak, 2011, diplomsko delo

Opis: The diploma thesis deals with social and moral differences in the plays of George B. Shaw, The Millionairess and The Apple Cart. Both plays deal with society issues, which have caused a growing precipice between classes; however, they also deal with inter-human relationships, pursuit of personal happiness, politics and religion. The characters in both plays are involved in a power struggle; recurrent conflicts between them are depicted with sharp dialogues in comic situations. The prefaces of both plays also play an important role; they give us an insight of Shaw’s opinion and provide an explanation for the behaviour of some characters.

Bridge over troubled water : (a bit on contemporary art, a lot on art education and maybe something on society)
Tomaž Zupančič, 2012, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci (vabljeno predavanje)

Opis: Who should be blamed for the gap between contemporary visual art and the society? Certainly this is not art, irrespective of how strange could be at the first sight. Contemporary art education should build the bridge over troubled water of incomprehension between contemporary visual culture and the society. According to Arthur Efland the main purpose of art education in a post-modern era is to widen and deepen our understanding of the cultural landscape we inhabit. Today's art education involves contemporary art into classroom by using the same methods, attitudes, principles that determine and are characteristic for contemporary art. It stresses teacher's descending the pedestal, the diversity of comprehending, reading artworks and other principles. An artist who is critical of Society sees as a creator, not a destroyer. Contemporary art education tries to do its best and step toward contemporary art, enjoy it and permit it to mirror and reflect the other, sometimes the dark side of ourselves.

Knowledge - keystone of the modern economy
Veselin Drašković, Radislav Jovović, Borut Jereb, Mimo Drašković, 2013, znanstvena monografija

Opis: Over the past 15 years, issues related to knowledge and knowledge management in companies and academic and research spheres have gained on importance. Knowledge is seen as an endless resource, a key element of innovations, competitiveness, economic growth and sustainable development. The present volume examines theoretical and methodological concepts of knowledge management, the knowledge society and the new economy. Drawing on the idea of the knowledge paradigm the growing importance and the role of knowledge in the society, which depend on numerous institutional prerequisites, is emphasized. Moreover, attention is drawn to the need for implementing and spreading the knowledge, as a multidimensional and multidisciplinary notion, efficiently as well as to the need for a critical evaluation of the so-called imaginary knowledge. The authors thus emphasize the need for the criteria of grading and knowledge transfer to be at the highest possible level. The field of knowledge leaves no place for improvisation, imperfection, and manipulation. This is the only ‘recipe’ for a successful future and a way out of any crisis.
