1. Discrete memristive Hindmarsh-Rose neural model with fractional-order differencesFatemeh Parastesh, Karthikeyan Rajagopal, Sajad Jafari, Matjaž Perc, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Discrete systems can offer advantages over continuous ones in certain contexts, particularly in terms of simplicity and reduced computational costs, though this may vary depending on the specific application and requirements. Recently, there has been growing interest in using fractional differences to enhance discrete models' flexibility and incorporate memory effects. This paper examines the dynamics of the discrete memristive Hindmarsh-Rose model by integrating fractional-order differences. Our results highlight the complex dynamics of the fractional-order model, revealing that chaotic firing depends on both the fractional-order and magnetic strength. Notably, certain magnetic strengths induce a transition from periodic firing in the integer-order model to chaotic behavior in the fractional-order model. Additionally, we explore the dynamics of two coupled discrete systems, finding that electrical coupling leads to the synchronization of chaotic dynamics, while chemical coupling ultimately results in a quiescent state. 3. Suitability of test procedures for determining the compatibility of seal materials with ionic hydraulic fluidsDarko Lovrec, Vito Tič, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The compatibility of seal materials with the working fluid is crucial for the flawless, energysaving, environmentally sustainable, and safe operation of any technical system. This is especially
true for hydraulic systems operating under high operating pressure. The problem of materials
compatibility comes into play when either a new type of seal material or a new type of fluid comes
into use. The paper discusses the research findings regarding material compatibility testing of new
high-tech ionic hydraulic fluids with commonly used seal materials. Due to the completely different
chemical composition of these new fluids compared to the classical mineral-based oil, for these fluids,
there are no standardized testing procedures. In these cases, we can only lean on the Standards
that apply to classical fluids, which can lead to incorrect results. In the forefront of the paper is the
discrepancy between the results obtained by the standardized test, and the test under real operating
conditions. FKM, an excellent material for seals, proved to be the most suitable in the case of using
ionic hydraulic fluid, according to a standardized test. However, it failed in the comparison test
under real operating conditions, as the cylinder leaked. NBR seals proved to be a better solution.

4. Factors of hospital mortality in men and women with ST-elevation myocardial infarction - an observational, retrospective, single centre studyMartin Marinšek, David Šuran, Andreja Sinkovič, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Purpose: There are well-known gender differences in mortality of patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Our purpose was to assess factors of hospital mortality separately for men and women with STEMI, which are less well known.
Patients and Methods: In 2018– 2019, 485 men and 214 women with STEMI underwent treatment with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). We retrospectively compared baseline characteristics, treatments and hospital complications between men and women, as well as between nonsurviving and surviving men and women with STEMI.
Results: Primary PCI was performed in 94% of men and 91.1% of women with STEMI, respectively. The in-hospital mortality was significantly higher in women than in men (14% vs 8%, p=0.019). Hospital mortality in both genders was associated significantly to older age, heart failure, prior resuscitation, acute kidney injury, to less likely performed and less successful primary PCI and additionally in men to hospital infection and in women to bleeding. In men and women ≥ 65 years, mortality was similar (13.3% vs 17.8%, p = 0.293).
Conclusion: Factors of hospital mortality were similar in men and women with STEMI, except bleeding was more likely observed in nonsurviving women and infection in nonsurviving men. 5. Time pressure, work-related spousal support seeking, and relationship satisfaction : spillover and crossover effects among dual-earner couplesSara Tement, Katarina Katja Mihelič, Bettina Kubicek, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The present study examined how time pressure at work is transmitted to the home domain and how it affects individuals’ (spillover) as well as their partners’ relationship satisfaction (crossover). We examined the role of work-related spousal support seeking and proposed that it serves as a mediator of the spillover as well as the crossover process. We further explored whether the proposed spillover-crossover process is gender-contingent. Using a sample of 308 dual-earner couples, we found support for a positive link between time pressure at work and spousal support seeking. As hypothesized, spousal support seeking served also as a crossover mechanism. However, distinct spillover and crossover processes were found for men and women. These findings not only point to a new spillover and crossover mechanism but also highlight gender-specific patterns in the role of support seeking. As this coping strategy is feasible when job stressors are high, it should be considered a part of stress management trainings and organizational practices. 7. Intercultural differences in the purchase and information behaviour of young consumersBeno Klemenčič, Gabrijel Devetak, Darko Števančec, 2012, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Pressures in the contemporary marketing environment are getting bigger and companies and marketers are required to know consumers and their purchase and information behaviour. In this article we studied the behaviour of consumers and the factors of purchase and information behaviour of young consumers when choosing clothes. We found out about the meaning of individual clothing characteristics having impact on the purchase decision making (price, trademark, fitting of clothing, design, quality, etc.). Consumers receive and look for information at different sources (radio commercials, TV commercials and shows, fashion magazines, catalogue sales, social networks, friends and acquaintances, etc.). With the empiric research we wanted to find out to what measure individual sources influence the purchase decision of an individual. We studied young people aged from 15 to 24 in the countries of the EU (Slovenia, Austria and Germany) and the United States of America. We especially focused on characteristic differences. Knowing intercultural differences is important for global companies of the clothing industry for forming their marketing strategies. On the sample of 440 young people who took part in the survey we found out that intercultural differences exist regarding the influence of individual information sources and regarding the factors of purchase decision making. Considering the stated we propose companies operating in global markets on both continents to prepare differentiated marketing strategies. 8. Cross-country entrepreneurial intentions study : the Danube region perspectiveUrban Šebjan, Polona Tominc, Darja Boršič, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: In this article, we investigate how entrepreneurial intentions of individuals in the eight countries of the Danube region are shaped by different components of individuals’ personal attitudes, the subjective norm and personal behavioral control. We analyze the internal structure of these components as well as some demographic and human capital factors. Cultural and developmental differences influencing variation in causal effects among variables in the model are analyzed. Structural equation modeling is used for data obtained by adult population surveys within the GEM research. Results of our study show that the entrepreneurial intention model is applicable across countries and that the internal effects among components of motivational antecedents exist, although not all hypothesized relationships are confirmed. Our study suggests that the process from perception to intention is similarly shaped across the eight countries of the Danube region, although there are several differences in the magnitude of causal effects as well as differences regarding influential factors. 10. Comics as a literary-didactic method and their use for reducing gender differences in reading literacy at the primary level of educationMaja Kerneža, Katja Košir, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The aim of the present study was to examine the effect of the systematic use of comics as a literary-didactic method to reduce gender differences in reading literacy and reading motivation at the primary level of education. It was assumed that the use of comics would have a positive effect on pupils’ reading literacy and reading motivation, while also reducing the aforementioned differences between boys and girls. The dimensions of reading literacy and reading motivation were examined in experimental and control groups, before and aſter the intervention, by means of questionnaires and tests for pupils. The sample consisted of 143 pupils from second to fifth grade from two Slovenian primary schools in a rural environment, of which 73 pupils participated in the experimental group and 70 pupils represented the control group. Effects of the use of comics as a literary-didactic method were not found: using comics as a literary-didactic method did not have a statistically significant effect on pupils’ reading literacy and reading motivation. However, when the four-way structure of the research (taking into account the age and gender of the pupils) was considered, some subgroups showed a statistically significant increase in reading interest and attitude towards reading. No reduction of gender differences in reading literacy and reading motivation was found. Based on the results, guidelines for further research are established and suggestions are offered for teachers’ work.
